I’m new to her also. Been listening to her almost two months as of now. I’m so upset because I needed her music the last 11 years, I can’t believe I just now started listening to her even though she’s been making music for a decade. The songs “In The Land” and “Danny” actually made me cry. Any artist or song that can do that is special. You’ll be entertained for days going through her discography. I was.

I love both the Chemtrails version of LMLYLAW and the UV Pink Champagne tbh. But I think the song would've been awesome if they were merged by keeping the first verse of the released version, starting out as a ballad but then after the chorus' second time around the bridge have it build up into the rock sound and include some of the unreleased lyrics. So many people prefer the unrleased to released and then say rock would be out of place in COTCC, but nah I think a folk rock ballad sound could've worked with this song and still blend in with the rest of the COTCC theme.

Void and Evil are some of the best songs she's done in a while. My feelings on the album are mixed. I like half of the songs, but then others I either don't like the melodys or production (Death sounds jumpy and I find Nymphology's chorus silly). I still prefer this album over k-12.

I was on a black metal kick during the last half of 2022. While searching for "female fronted black metal bands" I came across a playlist containing the song "Onde Born" by Myrkur, she mixes black metal elements with goth, doom, nordic folk instruments, and even orchestral pop similar to Lana. On the album "Mareridt" she has two collabs with Chelsea Wolfe (Funeral and Kvindelil), which is how I discovered her. I wish I knew who both these artists were years ago, I really love their music and stan them now. I love Chelsea's style of dark americana with goth/darkwave and rock/metal. I bumped this thread because I was listening to "The Grime And The Glow" album today. For an acoustic album with low quality it's still a jewel. It's so poetic, creepy but beautiful. The melody on "The Whys" sounds like something an indie rock or riot grrrl band would be playing, and because of its creepy acoustic sound it makes me picture in my head some story surrounding a haunted music venue. The last four songs are my favorites. The song "Sirenum Scopuli" had the same haunting effect on me that "Bentley" by Lana did. I feel like some of Lana's acapellas and more low quality unreleased Lizzy songs also have a beautifully haunting feel... for example: Bentley, Let My Hair Down, Axl Rose Husband, Elvis, Disco, Money Hunny, Strange love, Methamphetamines, Baby Blue Love, Hangin Around, A Star For Nick from May Jailer. Anyone else know what I mean?

Yes!! I remember when it was called "Dessert Treats" back in 2005. The packaging was cute, everything was candy or cake scented AND flavored. I think it was exclusively sold at CVS. They had a table in the middle of the cosmetics section dedicated to the brand. I was 12 at the time, my parents wouldn't buy it for me, so I'd just spray the samples on myself every time we went to CVS. Yes, it was tasty and sweet. It's gross, but yeah I used to lick it off my arms too. Edit: Found picture of what I remember exactly.

Yeah. I was always okay with Beautiful, not my favorite but I still like it and play it. But I can't like Margaret even after 10 listens, it's the only song on the new album (aside from the interludes since I don't count those) that I don't care about.

Taco Truck x VB
Chocolate Eyes replied to Elle's topic in Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd
On the first verse: The guitar at the very beginning starts off a little Yayo-ish, the rest sort of reminds me of Hawaiian Tropic. Before it switches to VB, the guitar reminds me of Hotel California. -

That's why they call me Lanita When I get down, I’m bonita... This part! But the whole verse is iconic! -
The heavy autotune on the new Jimin EP was painful to listen to.

Been listening to the album nonstop for 3 hours. I just fell in love with it immediately! it's still too early to rank it, but I have a feeling it will fall around #2-5 after time passes by. My favorite tracks are Paris Texas (it sounds so dreamy and retro), A&W, Peppers (does anyone else hear bits that sound a little like Kinda Outta Luck and Last Girl On Earth?), Taco Truck x VB, Candy Necklace (this one feels like a continuation of Cinnamon Girl in a way), Ocean Blvd, Fishtail, and Grandfather.

I heard of her recently after Honeymoun was claiming she sounds very Lana influenced. The most Lana-ish song of hers (aside from the Yayo sample) I would say is "Gaia", it sounds like an unreleased UV/HM outtake and I could imagine Lana singing it.

Lust For Life - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
Chocolate Eyes replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
Someone said a few pages back that "Change" hits differently and is haunting now, after the pandemic/lockdown and other current world news. I felt that way too last time I listened to this song. I actually really like "Love" as an opening. It starts off slow and builds up. It's very cinematic and classic Lana, sounds a little BTD-ish. But I also feel "13 Beaches" could've been a great opening too. Lust For Life does have it's own theme if you look into it. It's not cohesive like BTD, UV or HM, but it isn't as disorganized as LFL haters said when it came out. It does feel like a mixtape in a way, and I think this album is the divide between "old" and "new" Lana. The songs in the first half of the album each sample sounds from her previous albums, the second half from Coachella until the end are more acoustic/ballads/folk like the songs we've heard on NFR, COTCC, new songs on BB. I see LFL as: 1) a nod to BTD/UV/HM (the style of Lana that put her on the spotlight) and a farewell to the "old hollywood influenced lolita sad girl" aesthetics she was known for. 2) an indtroduction to NFR, Chemtrails, the style and music she's making at the moment. -
It's more of a grower. I feel this is one of those songs where you have to have been a fan for a while to get it. It's obviously a pretty personal one.

I never got into Adele either. Not a fan of her voice. I can’t stand most trap, reggaeton, mainstream country/bro country, deathcore/post hardcore/scene core stuff, whiny pop punk. Actually, I’m ok with some pop country. I can enjoy some Shania Twain, and I still have a soft spot for Taylor Swift’s debut album. I just don’t like that super polished pop country associated with soccer moms and football games, lol. I don’t know if this makes any sense.
