I think the tepid reaction to her album announcement held more weight than we think. It's clear that Lana is second guessing the entire project so I wouldn't expect her to release it at all this year - and I honestly would rather her not to if she isn't passionate about it. We've seen Lana releasing projects before that she wasn't super ecstatic about and the rollouts/post-releases were non-events (Blue Banisters comes to mind).

I think all the appearances of the past 6-12 months + the tour + rubbing shoulders with celebs and the whole rendezvous with Quavo is pushing her into exploring some new horizons. I don't think she's shelving Lasso altogether but she's clearly keen on transforming it and changing its direction and for all the "Lasso is Lust For Life 2.0!!" talk that's been circulating, it's actually very LFL pre-release of her to be changing the project halfway through.

I hope she abandons the Alabama traditional country aesthetic (which she would slay regardless) and leans onto this southern gothic energy that's been brimming from her latest posts and overall aesthetic. It'd be the perfect sequel to Lizzy Grant, specially if she's been in the mood to write and talk about lighter subjects. Let her have fun and live the best life she can live - only then she's capable of doing the amazing art she's been doing for almost 2 decades now.

I disagree. I think Ocean Blvd was pretty much more of an event than the two albums before it were: tons of magazine covers and interviews, a tour, Grammy noms, a high quality music video that wasn't homemade, the critical reception; it held more weight than Chemtrails and BB combined.

I don't think she has to release anything. My only problem is announcing it. Lana working on a project for 4 years ultimately means nothing unless she releases it - which she doesn't have to. She could be backtracking in her interest to record country music, might be second guessing where she wants to go next and might just be wanting to do these appearances and concerts without having to finish an album. If she's hesitant about it, I'd rather have her take her time to think about the album and work on it - otherwise even if it's released, it'll be treated like BB was aka an afterthought.

But I totally understand your reasoning! I just don't agree with the idea that she has to release the album. I just wish she had shut up about it.

I don’t think Lana performs that many songs off Ocean Blvd because many of them are so painfully personal and self revealing. They can be difficult to sing every other night, maybe they’ll be performed later when she has some distance to them.

Not sure where to discuss this but Lana doesn’t make sense, she just said she’s not interested in doing stadium tours and now she tells a fan one is being prepared? But yay for Lizzy songs!

When you switch on the news at six
Do you believe what they say?
Rock and roll heavy metal baby
Like a broken record, it's all the same
    And sadly I'm mad
I want you to take me tonight
In blood diamond, blue velvet nights
    Jupiter rising, dawn past daylight

Hollywood Jesus my own faux comfort
Crying in your arms when I'm hurt
    I have ten million questions
With no ease by your divine interventions
    I want to fly
Beyond the veil where angels glide
    I want to understand
Is there peace on the other side
Is there peace on the other side

When you switch on the news at six
Do you believe what they say?
    Hollywood starlet overboard
    It's crazy they say
    And sadly i'm mad

I can feel it coming in the air tonight
See you walking on that blue Pacific
I can see you bathing in the summer light
    Glimmering down it's almost mythic
    You got game boy
    You got game boy
    You got game boy

It's so cute that that fan brought their copy of VBBOTG instead of an album like everyone else
I think sis is very proud of it and she would've liked that

Here we can share new LDR content (photos, stories) and updates shared by her family members, friends, staff & colleagues (band members, producers, managers, stylists) in social media and elsewhere because I think that some photos and content shared by her loved ones can get lost in different threads (like the Instagram Updates thread which is meant for Lana's posts). Many of her acquaintances have loved sharing some old or new photos and other content of Lana. This thread is perfect and specific for this topic!

I think it’s been pretty much confirmed for months now that this album won’t lyrically be like Ocean Blvd, BB or Chemtrails, so I don’t think critics will call her repetitive. At most, some might call it a setback if it’s not as clever or heartfelt like her most recent songs.

I’ll never forget the utter shock I felt when I listened to the album for the first time, how raw it seemed to be but on a strange level I wasn’t sure if she was being serious or had added flavor for dramatic effect. How hurt she was, or had been. “Jim raised me up, he hurt me but it felt like true love” like what?? Gurl?? You okay? I loved it from the very beginning. I remember needing a few listens to realize that the album version of Black Beauty was superior to the demo which had leaked earlier - I was just so used to it, haha.

    Happy 10 years, Ultra.

@creditcardromancer Here it is! A friend who used to be here has one too but hers is sharper than mine, I made a stencil out of plastic for hers, mine was of paper. Still, I think it looks cool! Based on a drawing I made.
