I've never agreed with a post so much! SO many people dismiss the song for it's mediocre chorus lyrics, but everything else about the song is so terrific! The verses' & bridge's lyrics, the way Lana sings, the humming at the start, the melody, the motorcycle noises...

Apart from the fact that they're likely (confirmed????) to be UV outtakes, I don't think we know anything else.

I totally agree with you! Born to Die mostly hints at bad experiences ('they would rue the day I was alone without you', Dark Paradise & Summertime Sadness et al), but has pretty 'positive' i-really-love-you-forever vibes. Ultraviolence is as she said it would be - darker and way more melancholic than Born to Die. It's so ironic that she starts Fucked My Way with 'life is awesome, I confess' - practically the whole album is about how shit she is treated by her boyfriend(s)/media/others. As you said, Born to Die & Paradise are suns with occasional clouds, whereas Ultraviolence is a full-blown eclipse.

I really love Diet Mountain Dew (album version). The lyrics of the first demo (hit me my darling tonight...) are far superior, but the production of this version is really nice. It's a great song and it's far too often dismissed as simple fluff.

The bridge of Guns and Roses always gives me goosebumps. "I can feel it coming in the air tonight See you working on that Blue Pacific I can see you bathing in the summer light You turn to tan and you look terrific" The lines sound more like they're from poetry than from a song; the imagery is just so strong and clear. The way she delivers it is heavenly too.

I hear cool too, it makes more sense to me, given the nature of the rest of the song.

Seems like a fake to me...but a well made one at that.

i known I already said how much I love this song but GOD DAMN it's like the ultimate Lana song. a celebration of Americana with a dash of relationship issues coupled with a shirt-tuggingly-desperate-don't-leave-me longing. it completely sums up Lana's whole image in a few minutes. LOVE IT

Personally, I think it's more like Big Bad Wolf in terms of demos - two versions exist but neither of them are exactly 'demos', just the common one and the alternative one. I think the 'final' version of Motel 6 is just an alternative version to the one we already have, whilst the acapella one is the 'demo'.

@@Rebel has a fantastic playlist in the Your Favourite Lana Playlists thread, which really encompasses all of her best released songs imo. It's well worth a listen for any newish fans.

I really like the Dan Heath Orchestral version because I think it packs a lot more emotion and certainty than the studio version.

I think it's too light compared to her other albums. Both WR and INL are dark as fuck.

I've been listening to I Never Learn and it's just as fantastic as Wounded Rhymes is. Don't really like Youth Novels, but her later two albums are so fucking amazing.

Just one question - which version of Making Out, On Our Way and Driving In Cars did you use? Cause I know there's the autotuned & regular versions for MO, acoustic demo & final for OOW and the 'regular' voice & monotonous voice for DICWB.
