I see it more like Bombs On Monday (cancer, bombing, bad news…) with many possible meanings… and that’s part of what makes it kind of mysterious to me. 
 
It could mean fast food industry, advertising, celebrities or even a relationship where u come back to someone who treats u like shit. Many layers to that song 
 
Also BOM is gaining a whole new meaning to me since someone in my family has started chemotherapy recently… the line “promise I’ll love your garden, even with no flowers” hits hard 

I see it more about consumerism in general and maybe even celebrities (?) Not only fast food. Interesting that you see it about a relationship. I mean, maybe to me it's about parasocial relationships.

Here's a totally obvious (pre?)reference to her new character that I just saw from the K-12 tour. We'll probably notice lots more of this stuff in future videos too, so that'll be fun! Reminds me of the Spider Web pic on the calendar, lol.

Sidenote, it looks like our thoughts on the "Can't wait 'til I'm out of K-12" tagline were spot on with so many lyrics in Portals alluding to her being unhappy and bored with the state of her career/life. I'm sure she was still having fun, but I don't think she was resonating with her old work that much by the time After School was in production.

I honestly didn't know how mysterious Unhappy Meal really is for everyone!

Her vocals are also so different in the song. She really has an attitude and it's unsettling in a way like she's yelling at us and blaming us for being naive children. She kinda switched it around from being the child who was lied to, to being the adult/icon who lies to the kids and doesn't give a shit about them. 
Because it's from the other side of her usual perspective, i think it makes it even more genius of a song. [Took this out of the spoiler but can't delete it from there oops]
 
And I always think the roughness makes it sound even better. It sounds so grungy, and imo fits really well with the psychedelic grunge vibe from tumblr, plus vintage TV ads, with images like this:

Does anyone else get slight grunge vibes from Light Shower? That lone, almost sinister sounding guitar is so  ... And then it's this love song. 

ive really grown to really love her vocals in the last half of the song on Light Shower
especially the "baby cleanse me" bits

if she included Test Me on Portals the album would stay #1 up till now for sure 
Test Me cleans my skin and soul everytime I listen

i feel like her ability to write freely and with variety died when she limited herself to one character and storyline. like her sophomore album could've been amazing had she not went in the direction she did. not everything can be a metaphor about school and that's okay 

Portals is the final act for Cry Baby’s story (hence the pink alien spirit reincarnation thing). After this I really hope she comes back with no alter ego, we need some rest and I miss her face too.
