Heartbroken at the news of Sulli's passing...I don't have any words but I feel like I need to vent here, the amount of online hate that girl had gotten would have made anyone break I really hope korea changes the way they treat women (also if anyone uses sites like netizenbuzz please boycott them because they're part of the problem). I'm really praying for the well-being of Taeyeon as well I can't even imagine how she feels right now, SM needs to have a serious overturn and value the mental health of their artists...sigh what a terrible day

Appreciate the response. I guess I was just curious as to where you draw the line when it comes to the mixing errors you listed from being a stylistic choice. Because I remember we had a conversation about this before. All the criticisms you have about NFR sound right in line with how I feel about LFL. A record where I felt the presence of production errors actually came off as pretentious rather than artistic. I feel it actually it suits NFR but I see what you mean. +1 for Apocalypse Dreams

I guess I see where you're coming from. There were definitely mixing decisions I found to be out of place or weird on LFL, but my biggest complain about LFL would be that it had too much trap beats and collabs, which just felt weird for a Lana album, or her sound for that matter. Also a lot of the lyricism on LFL felt forced or just juvenile in my opinion. NFR is definitely a more mature album overall. 
 
I do not actually hate NFR, I just have a lot of complaints about it. I don't mean to sound hateful, there are definitely songs I love on this record, but overall there are a lot of artistic decisions that were made in the process that just don't make me enjoy this album to the fullest.

Summer Bummer is deeply underrated - I understand why much of the fandom wouldn't appreciate it because of how heavily hip-hop it is, but I think it's this brilliant combination of dark yet charming, light yet heavy, hard-hitting yet laidback. It's danceable and a real summer jam but it's also a little sinister and devilish. Also I fckn LOVE the lyrics: "You can't escape my affection, wrap you up in my daisy chains"; "White lines and black beaches and miles in between us"; "We travel for weeks just to escape your demons".

NFR isn't my #1 though I do love it - but yes, I also think BTD and UV are the most cohesive.

Sadly, I associated all her new music with a volatile relationship at that time and so it just takes me back to memories I could really do without right now. Some day in the late future, I'll listen to it again when I'm better. As for her older songs, they usually bring me such joy and almost like some sort of relief, even if they're depressive or dark (because I feel understood). Her crazy songs, her happy songs and so on - all of her moods all relatable. Her very first bigger songs (from BTD) take me back to when I was especially young and naive. I dunno, I'll always have a place for her ♡♡

You guys need to get over your sensitive selves and stop selectively clutching your pearls. It all comes down to personal taste. I still very much consider myself a fan even though I think her last two records have been really lackluster (in different ways, but still very lackluster!). NFR is obviously a great record, and I'm glad she's finally got good reviews, but it doesn't change how much this record doesn't do anything to me. I have the right to regurgitate the same comment if I feel like it, just like there are people on this sub that basically have nothing but praise for this record, and do just like I do on a daily basis (and good for them honestly!). 
Lana ain't no diety, not everything she does is going to please everyone, and it's honestly a good thing. She's not immune to criticism.

Super interesting topic. I live in a city with pretty much extreme racism towards the Indigenous. They're a very integral part of the population where I live and yet there is next to nothing in regards to Indigenous student representation in our university/education system overall, etc.On the flip side, there's a massive Indigenous over-representation in the justice system (with tons of mistreatment from our own officers though thankfully some of these cases are being cracked down on now). You'll basically never see a homeless person out here who isn't Indigenous, and it's a pretty decent city. Just seems like no one cares. I could go on and on. It's amazing how many people are still delusional over Columbus and everything related.
 
I'm glad for threads like these and how things do tend to change with more attention to them
