  1. Oh that must be cool for Lana, knowing the first person who shared you on the waves ...
  2. The Emancipation of Mimi In 2001, after the terrible fiasco that was Glitter and the emotional breakdown that soon followed, Mariah Carey was dead and gone, for the press. Has been. Nothing but a faded dream. Old news. She took some time for herself and released "Charmbracelet", that received a mere lukewarm welcome. And then came 2005. It's Like That : Nothing sensational, chart wise, but to everyone's surprise, the song got airplay and ... Yes, people actually seemed to enjoy it ! Careless, and fun ... BOP "It's a special occasion/Mimi's Emancipation/A cause for celebration/I ain't gonna let nobody's drama bother me" We Belong Together : The song soon became a MONSTER hit. You simply couldn't escape a Radio Station playing it or a MV Channel spinning the video, it was omnipresent. 14 weeks spent to Number 1. Billboard baptized it Song of the decade (little known fact, MC had the song of the previous decade with "One Sweet Day", ft Boyz 2 Men, a song that spent 16 weeks atop the charts). Shake It Off : Shake It Off had to satisfy itself with the second position, well ... Because We Belong Together was still destroying lives everywhere ! Don't Forget About Us : Don't Forget About Us quickly became Mariah's 17th Number One. In the following era, E=MC2, "Touch My Body" earned her her 18th, tying her with Elvis Presley (also 18 number ones, I believe). Only the Beatles have more (21, If I'm not mistaken). Undisputedly one of the biggest and unexpected comebacks of the history of music, Mariah Carey managed, once again, to prove herself to the world (even though she doesn't need to, anymore ).
  3. The way I understood it, his advices are what boy scouts are given. So there's this unexpected parralllel between an American Icon explaining what can/can't be done and God setting the rules for the Garden of Eden.
  4. I am so moved when she sings about looking for love "In all the wrong places", in TBD, because it's so poignant. The lyrics, the melody, the vocals, it's just too much to handle !
  5. I'm not a fan of the ending with the paparazzi, I feel that it would be better if the scenario stuck with one universe, but that's just me ! The rest, I was so drawn into the story with the colors and the descriptions and the song playing in my ears ... If you have more scenarios like this one for LDR songs, make a thread, I'm sure a lot would love to read them, including me !
  6. "Into The Rose Garden" https://www.instagram.com/p/99W_LUH5e5/?taken-by=davidmyrick I'm just making stuff up, but if you click on @davidmyrick" , the last video that he posted is that of a rose garden, but of course, nothing indicates that the "Burnt Norton" project is linked to this video. It's nice, though !
  7. Kill Kill ---- Born to Die ---- Ride ---- Cruel World ---- Honeymoon Queen of the Gas Station ---- Off to the Races ---- American ---- Ultraviolence ---- Music to Watch Boys To Oh Say Can You See ---- Blue Jeans ---- Cola ---- Shades of Cool ---- Terrence Loves You Gramma (Blue Ribbon Sparkler Trailer Heaven) ---- Video Games ---- Body Electric ---- Brooklyn Baby ---- God Knows I Tried For K Part 2 ---- Diet Mountain Dew ---- Blue Velvet ---- West Coast ---- High By The Beach Jump ---- National Anthem ---- Gods & Monsters ---- Sad Girl ---- Freak Mermaid Motel ---- Dark Paradise ---- Yayo (Paradise edition) ---- Pretty When You Cry ---- Art Deco Raise Me Up (Mississippi South) ---- Radio ---- Bel Air ---- Money Power Glory ---- Religion Pawn Shop Blues ---- Carmen ---- Burning Desire ---- Fucked My Way Up to the Top ----- Salvatore Brite Lites - Million Dollar Man ---- Ride ---- Old Money ---- The Blackest Day Put Me in a Movie ---- Summertime Sadness ---- American ---- The Other Woman ---- 24 Smarty ---- This Is What Makes Us Girls ---- Cola ---- Black Beauty ---- Swan Song Yayo (AKA version) ---- Without You ---- Body Electric ---- Guns and Roses ---- Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood Once you've selected your favourite song from each list, count up how many songs you selected as your favourite from each era/album… BTD:4 UV: 4 Paradise : 3 HM: 1 AKA: 0 I think this gives a fairly good overview of my preference. I'm a BTD die-hard, that's no surprise, but I really REALLY enjoy UV as well. Paradise has some awesome tracks. Honeymoon, too, of course, but it doesn't hit me the way the previous ones did. The only "unfairness" is AKA, I looove songs like Kill Kill, Yayo, PMIAM, Mermaid Motel etc etc ... It's just that ... yeah the other songs they were pitted against will always resonate within me in a special way.
  8. Adèle singing BTD is something I'd be curious to hear ?
  9. Is it just me or is the drum only located in the right earphone ? It's a bit irritating, but it could very well be my old pair. Other than that it's very summery, and fun ! Great job, as always !!
  10. Wait wut, I can do a cover, too (granted it Will suck, but SEND ME THE SONG !!!) haha no that's fine I'll Wait ! From the snippet, I can picture Lizzy dancing in her room like in the SOC music video !

    Mariah Carey

Her tone, the music video, the beat, the sexual innuendos, the vocal runaway at the end... What I also love about her Is the way she remixes her songs !
  12. For a moment there I tried to understand what song that was supposed to translate and then ... Haha

    Mariah Carey

"Honey"...My, My... "Mariah, You on Fiyah"
  14. Omg this is so cool ! I love it when remixes give a song a new life instead of slowing down/speeding up the vocals on a différent instrumental ! Can't Wait to hear it in full !

    Mariah Carey

No one writes lyrics like MC. The level of English Acquiescent, Compulsively, Despondency, Destitution,Enmity, Inherently, Painstakingly, Woeful... The list goes on... I'm always amazed at this "Heartbreaker" verse : "It's a shame to be So euphoric and weak When you smile at me And you tell me things That you know persuade me To relinquish my love to you But I cannot resist At all" It all makes sense, rhymes and it's damn well constructed on a complex melody. It's a shame that people believe she's a bitch when she actually plays with that diva image people have given her over the years. She : - writes her own lyrics - produces her own records - arranges everything when it's a cover - has an amazing voice with tons of different textures (agility, power, softness, she's got it all) - can play the piano I mean, to me she's the true definition of an artist. Edit : Rant over

    Ariana Grande

Already recycling her formulas ? That being said, it's not baaaad, but isn't amazing either. Visually, it's a mess, but there are some good shots (I like the one where she stands in that light circle) NEXT !

    Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey Is Amazing ! She doesn't get half the credit she deserves for her lyrics (I'm not talking about Touch My Body lyrics but real poetry like The Roof, or .. Well .. Pretty much everything she wrote)

  22. I'm not good at thinking about what song flows next with others and there are SO many songs in her catalogue (like 3 gazillions, and still counting) HOWEVER I'd be very interested to hear the final result so ... I'll stay tuned
  23. Omg, it's AMAZING ! This is just beautiful, it's really as if the Gangsta Nancy Sinatra had written this for Born To Die ! Great job, I'm gonna check out more of your stuff now, k bye !
