it was a bit weird tbh. in the love+fear era she said she wanted to collab but 'no one wanted to work with me' then in regards to the female collab album she said that people were excited and commenting but it was difficult to organise (this was pre-pandemic and jack breakup).
because she put a lot of emphasis of using a female producer and jen only did 4/13 tracks, some people questioned it and she was like 'um I meant man's world was the a female led project' which feels like a lie because it felt very heavily implied that she was going to do a female lead album, not just one song. i wonder if something happened behind the scenes because she wrote quite a nice dedication to james in the credits but jen's felt a bit stale.

stop your conspiracies right there please it absolutely was a tragic accident completely out of anyone else's control not pre-meditated no fabricated details. trying to get a better look at the full moon over athens was beautiful or poetic or whatever and people get weird about that (sorry annie) but there are no mysteries surrounding it, 'tragic accident' is the exact way to describe it 

irrelevant to this but I kind of want her to do a fake notes app apology to announce something this era, like this huge text of rambling non-apology (you know the kind) then at the end ‘sike! brat remix album out on the x’

I know this is kind of rich to post on this site lmao...but "stan culture" and the whole twitter/insta-sphere of it all is so played out at this point. I know forum culture always was & always will be a thing in music, but I hope that particular avenue dies out eventually, especially with how often it's dragged out to the artists themselves irl 

Charli is sweet for speaking up and still defending Taylor for this. If it was the other way around, we all know Taylor would be unresponsive - she doesn't care about anyone but herself and will happily send her fans on witch-hunts 

From what I’ve seen Brazilians mention online, they aren’t actually wishing death on Taylor but it’s slang in the way we would say in English something like “Taylor is gagged”
 
regardless, bringing up Taylor in conversation whenever Sympathy is a knife/Brat is mentioned is so disrespectful to the art that is about Charli’s experiences - not any other artist.
 
Chanting at a live show is kind of crazy because the only relevance is that chart battle, and that definitely isn’t something that she gives a fuck about so it creates a fake competitive narrative which ironically is exactly what she addresses in her songs on the album.

It’s also the right thing to do, as much as I dislike Taylor saying and doing shit like this is so weird. Stop putting so much energy on the internet hating someone and go outside and interact with real people challenge (impossible)

honestly I don't think marina would be on girl, so confusing because she'd probably have to acknowledge the familiar froot in the room, whilst that comment was iconic and low-key funny in itself, tweeting 'imagery is artistic property. please respect your fellow artists.' when she directly took inspiration from cindy sherman and copied some of her shots for the album visuals of electra heart was so

I think Marina’s tweet felt calculated like she thought she had to comment on the song to save face. Maybe she did genuinely think it was beautiful, but the reason to publicly post about it was for her own benefit. It makes the public think positively of her because she’s “supporting” Charli. I don’t think Charli talks to her at all and that twitter interaction is probably all it will be.

I’m not feeling the “there are multiple versions of Girl, so confusing with multiple female artists” theory. That would kinda make the Lorde version less special and run the whole concept of it into the ground. A big part of what makes this so monumental is because it’s Lorde, and the layers behind that. If she did this with Rina or whoever it would be such a non-event. I still see people throwing Marina’s name around (give it up) but their whole beef was never that deep and there’s really no depth to their dynamic. Their beef literally started and ended with Marina sending her fans after her for doing a similar photoshoot as her almost a decade ago, and present day they’re not friends. There’s really nothing more to it. It would not match the concept of the song.
