Probably weird but I have a small family bc I only know my mom’s side and grandparents are dead now and stuff but hearing Lana talk about karmic/family lineage and her own experiences with that has made me want to look into my own.

Definitely a song with so many layers, and I’m totally with you on the Jimmy segment. In my opinion, she’s telling in the first part of the song, but then showing in the second part of the song -  she now embodies “the experience of being an American Whore” through a seemingly fun and loose breakdown.
 
With the samples of the NFR title track, the Jimmy segment feels a bit like a pastiche of two Lanas (the critics’ darling, Lana and the subject of harsh criticism, Lana) - it takes the song that represents Lana’s most critically-acclaimed career-period and periodically distorts it against hip-hop beats and more vibe-y than narrative-driven lyrics. This, in my opinion, is a juxtaposition that marries the Lana who says she lives in Rosemead and the Lana who’s at the Ramada. So I think she’s just representing the lyrics from earlier in the song, but through sonics rather than lyrics.  
 
And I think she just wanted to fuck around in the studio with Jack lol. With her fashion choices and behaviour on social media over the last year-and-a-half, it really seems like she’s having fun with this image of the “American Whore” and reclaiming this stigmatized label assigned to her (by the media, and, perhaps as a result of how things ended with a certain someone based on the lyrics she sang on TikTok).

I’ve taken more of an interest in the idea of my family lineage for that reason. Hearing Lana talk about knowing her familial roots (and all the baggage that accompanies it) to consciously follow her own intuition so as to “heal up to seven generations forward” was inspiring. I also think that it gives you a sense of connectedness, feeling like you’re a part of some grander genealogical thread. If you’re a pretty individualistic person who has only focused on their immediate family like me, then it’s definitely an interesting experience to ground yourself in the most extended of extended family!

Yeah, I'm still holding out there will be a vinyl boxset with the tata vinyl. Not going to lie... I also wished for a Spotify pic disc last week, so my wish came half true at this point. I would of totally wanted a different picture of Lana as the pic disc. Something similar to the pic disc that came out for COCC. The picture they used was one not used on any other variants. I guess I should have been more specific when I was making my wishes last week lol

yeah, i expect it to be. chemtrails was always stocked near me but i only found blue banisters maybe twice so i copped an extra copy when i found it again but never saw it after that initial stocking of it

Omg wait, I’m laughing. The screenshot of the email I just posted I had found on Twitter, but I just received an email myself. I don’t even subscribe to Spotify, but I used their desktop web player to stream the new singles before buying them on iTunes

honestly she could never tour again and only work on more music, i'd be happy getting more records. i still want behind the iron gates but i guess that's kind of a wash at this point

Idk if it’s worth noting or not but when I was looking things up, I found a lot of family members and there are another Charlie and Caroline that obviously Lana’s siblings are named after. I don’t think I ever found anyone with the first name Elizabeth, but from the lineage here we can see where Woolridge came from. Rob’s middle name is England, which is a family name. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lana names her future children something related to her family’s lineage.

It’s her great grandmother. Father’s mother’s mother I believe. I think I read she died in 1967 or something so lana never met her.

I think her relationship with religion is interesting. I feel like she’s mad with God sometimes and expresses it through her music like maybe something bad happened in a church setting or something like that so it makes it difficult for her. But then we know she goes to a Christian church regularly. Wasn’t she raised Catholic?
