I think she's incredibly poised in it, strangely enough, and she explored that real well imho. I was confused for a sec, but, and w the rest of the videos she's released this cycle. Idk how to put this properly, the videos are actually still balanced, just shift the focus from the technicalities, and more so- I think it's supposed to be absorbed in full, as a whole, the animations are cute, but what she actually wants u to see, is her. It's strangely wholesome because although sure it's underwhelming from what her videos got us used to, but- this is her. The intimacy is what's supposed to carry this through, and it did. At least for me.

Why I wanted to ask about the other peeps who aren't from California is because, at least for me, my intuition's been firing on and off in the vids for more reasons than one, bc growing up around here, it's definitely a lot more immersive in experience. And I fucking don't wanna sound territorial or condescending, but I think what she's doing is taking away the glamour from what Hollywood offers, she moves past it, and gives u an average free day of what it's like in LA. Not to make anyone feel unincluded at all, but it's incredibly local-feeling. This is what the culture's downtime in youth can be like sometimes.

It feels like something's ended and I can't put my finger on it exactly. It also feels like she's accepted something about herself that she hasn't before. Damn, her life focus kinda just shifted, and I'm happy for her.

In a more collected, but still collective sort of perspective, she's saying she's basically made it, done w it. She's just gonna live her life.

Just watched it. It’s cute. I’m glad she released it, I always love the homemade style videos. I especially liked that they kept all the giggling in the Bartender part. Definite rewatch value. Loved LDR in front of the pool during NFR best. Very relaxing.

I can't believe her cracked-to-fuck phone screen is immortalized in a video

Or that she brought in Duke to throw food at... ma'am...

    Anyway she looks gorgeous

I feel like she knows most of fans love anything she puts out, and that’s why she stays in her comfort zone.
It’s kind of sad to see how her videos used to be and how they are now. It was a cute video, I guess. Nothing more than that.

I think thats why lust for life tanked so much on an emotional level, there is no way to connect with someone when you know they're so obviously pretending to be happy and have this new fake found lust for life. The only part of that album that felt real was the last 3 songs. Heroin felt very raw and honest, Change actually felt very sincere to me, its one of the only tracks on the album that felt the most happy and sad at the same time, not forced. And of course Get Free which imo was also a masterpiece

the greatest/fiily had allusions to her old videos, but it was nothing like them. the older videos were marked by daring, grand, beautiful emotional truth that no one but Lana was honest, talented, or cool enough to portray accurately

portraying an emotion accurately can sometime only be done through the use of non-naturalistic storytelling

and nfr is Lanas most naturalistic record yet obviously. but the lust for life videos weren't good either. love tried and failed, white mustang video is a flop if there ever was one. so I think Lana is just more reserved in her willingness to portray very strong emotions

I agree ! I don't like it either, which is what I was expressing. trying not to be too harsh though... I always come around to appreciate Lanas stuff more over time

these are all really bad things lol - if being interesting and artistic means being looked down upon by boring people then so be it

I Stan the first 2 parts. the nfr part was my favorite visuals of the whole era. I feel like I understand and appreciate bartender a million times more. happiness is a butterfly.... best song worst video, the injustice is sickening..

lana was acting so teenagery, it was so cute to see but kind of bizarre for some reason

if I was not a fan and I saw these videos, id think Lana Del Rey is a girl band of Lana and those two dancers...

I don't like how I have to actively look away from the  eyes of that one dancer (idk which is which) to enjoy it though
also, incoming "Lana is so white privilege she's making videos about throwing food at cops and laughing, while dating one, when police brutality is...." I couldn't stop thinking about how lanaboards members were gonna be so pissed lol

most people find the style she used in national anthem/ ride / tropico to be unsettling or over the top

and now Lana is more and more like most people

she is moving towards the happy and simple. which isn't bad but it is distinct from her older stuff. mostly I think that Lana doesn't take things as seriously as she did when she was younger, when she was more idealistic and passionate about extreme artistic expression

I just found it super odd to think this is the same woman who delivered National Anthem\Ride\Tropico (hell, even Summertime Sadness and Born To Die) and then... well. iPhone Vintage App happened.

Things started to slow down by Ultraviolence (because West Coast is cute but there's nothing much going on and Shades Of Cool is ok. The title track... we just don't talk about that. Not after what she did with the original video which was probably going to be on her top3 with the ones mentioned above).

Is not that the videos are bad or anything but most of the time they're really boring now. I guess I kinda miss the storytelling instead of... just looking gorgeous.

Do you know when something is so bad but so bad that it ends up being good? lol I don't know what it is, I can't explain...
But I like to see her smile!!! So... I think Lana ended up winning me in the end.
    I like it!

oh my God when she was sitting in front of the pool with the blue notes spilling out the back, i got chills. so beautiful! the NFR bit gave me a bit of Regina Spektor vibes (visual wise). i got super baked before watching this and it just put me at such ease wow

Lmao this video is so funny. It's actually really nice, just them having fun. I love how she put all those flying things and the explosions in the video to add that futuristic touch. It ties into how the world is slowly falling apart, a sentiment strongly conveied in TG too. All the while she's just laughing and having fun, WTWWAWWKD comes to mind.
The Norman part just works, Lana in her house and garden with her thoughts, the imagery was pretty too.
The HIAB part was kind of a hot mess tho lmao. I cringed big time the majority of that part

It should be good, if she is releasing poetry i'd have liked her to have hand written the poetry and released audio of her reading it since it seems more personal.

Also how many people are going to make those "people say you can't dance to Lana Del Rey" memes about this poetry lol

You know what i might do, i would kinda class her poetry as part of the NFR era so once the spoken word album is released i think it would be a good idea to add some of the poems as interludes in between the appropriet songs on NFR. Imagine it suddenly going from a 14 track album to a 20 - 25 track masterpiece with poems and instrumentals, wow
