Same here! I'd been BEGGING for a collab between the two of them since like... 2014 or around the time ILYH came out and then he popped up in the Freak video and then we got Coachella which was about being at a show of his with his wife in the crowd and then all interaction seemed to stop.... until LAST YEAR AND THEN WE TRULY ATE THIS YEAR

    Oh for sure!

I just know, personally, that when that one person you have been forever trying to impress and "earn" their love (toxically), and then they make room for you and make u their priority, you will do anything to make them apart of your life

I hear the similarities between Let the light in and tomorrow never came, but i just think FJM is more charismatic and thats what made Let the light in better. I also feel there are so many similarities between this album and FJM's writing tyle in general. And im loving it as a huge FMJ fan myself!

Let the light in seems like such a classic Lana track. It's cinematic, the melody is very beatles-y, very 60s/70s. It's just so fucking good. If she did more songs like it on the next album i'd be absolutely happy. It seems like what LFL should've been, Tomorrow Never Came. I like that song just fine, but this seems like a more perfected sound like that.

It could be her choice, too. She's gotten older and maybe she realizes keeping family around is more important, even if that doesn't include her mother. Her sister has been more included as time goes on and even her brother. But Rob always has seemed to be supportive of her from the beginning. I remember the UV shows, fans would show up to a sold out show and as far as I remember, he'd bought some tickets to hand out. It's also interesting that she refers to him as Rob sometimes, then sometimes dad.

I don't think it'd be his choice if he wasn't present in her life, successful as Lana has become or not. I think that'd be a choice Lana would make. If Patty had the choice, I'm sure Lana would be more present in her life but I don't think Lana wants to be, so Patty isn't in hers. The same would go for Rob too.

Also, sometimes one parent makes decisions for their kids without consideration of the other parent. It's clear Lana doesn't like talking about Patty around Rob so his relationship with Patty might not be very good, if they have any relationship these days at all. Maybe he's sided with Lana over things that her mom did and they were out of his control. "My father never stepped in when his wife would rage at me."

I'm in love with how complex this album is. I feel like with every listen i digest it more. There are more songs i like than others, but I feel it's an album u have to listen to all the way through to understand it.

I don't mind it's wordy-ness, bc I love hearing her speak. I also adore that it's very particular to her fans. Like if u don't know Lana's story and own every album, you won't understand this album or its references.

    My stand out songs are:

    The Grants
    Ocean blvd
    A&W
    Juda Interlude
    Candy Necklace
    Jon Batiste Interlude
    Fingertips
    Grandfather pls
    Let the Light in
    Fishtail
    Peppers

This album makes me feel sad, like a bad bitch, and like im there in the room present with them - hanging out like we're friends.

With this album, I feel like it's a new genre from what she was doing; although it's poetic and wordy, the production is super cinematic. I love the combo of her poetry with the cinematic production. It's almost as if she is singing to us on the set of a musical that only contains soliloquies.

With this album and how its been composed, my reflection on COCC and BB is that they were sister albums, and none of the songs on Ocean blvd are anything like that. She says she doesn't have a vision for where she is going, but me thinks she does know, and it was very clear with this .

i find it interestingly ironic how a lot of the things that people get mad about nowadays regarding lana are things she's done in the past or throughout her career and nobody had any issue with previously

people are already getting upset at her for referencing black dahlia in the upcoming candy necklace music video... but nobody has anything to say about her recreating JFK's murder in the national anthem music video, i can see how referencing such events can be a tricky, and if they referenced, it should be done in a tasteful, respectful way that makes sense for the purpose of art, the music video isn't even completely out yet, it might make more sense once the complete video is released, regardless, i would like to think that lana is referencing her for a reason, i do think it would be distasteful to dress/imitate her just for the aesthetic or for no reason at all

Candy Necklace gives me being drawn into a misty dark forest by a sliver of green light. When she arrives, she’s hypnotized by a man’s “candy necklaces” (which I take as an allusion for drugs). She begins to slur her words and become entranced and he joins in with her singing and takes her deeper into the forest, and eventually down to the depths of hell. Something about Jon’s voice just makes me picture the witch doctor guy from Princess and the Frog for some reason LOL. Then the following interlude is him celebrating finally capturing her and putting her under his spell. I just get such Coraline/ evil presence drawing in an innocent girl to meet her demise.

I never thought Lana would be able to beat NFR, but I think she's done it here. And it's weird to me because I feel like part of the reason NFR is so strong is that each song is so strong. But with this album, there are a lot of songs that have been kinda forgettable to me so far or not even my style of song I'd normally listen to on their own, but listening to them all together, the album just sounds so deeply touching, innovative, and complex in the best way possible. This might even become my favorite album of all time, and I haven't had that change since 2016. The only album that came close to changing that is NFR. I can't believe I've been so lucky to experience and follow an artist this brilliant during my lifetime.
