I promise you'll barely even notice me
Unless you want to notice me
Unless you prefer a rambunctious child
In which case, I can turn it on, too

this part and her tone reminds me so much of a 1950s housewife or even charlotte haze from the book "Lolita". it's the desperation and need for the man's love and it breaks my heart

feel like this is the first time she's addressed herself with her real name other than as Lizzy

Ugh this is so cute and also very relatable (not the flying lessons, but the overall attitude)

I wonder who the man is she seems to be addressing in most of these poems

You're very welcome, but it's a big group effort!!

I am enjoying writing them out as usually I need a few listens to click with lyrics. There are many amazing heartbreaking and heartwarming moments on this. It's my favourite thing she has made as an artist!

I think everything is covered now but any other q's let me know.

I like the songs you referenced. To me this poem screams Under the Bridge by RHCP. While the song is mostly about drug abuse, it also creates this relationship between narrator and city.

folklore by taylor swift really made me change my mind about the folky sound that cocc might have (of course we have nothing but lana sometimes embodies the music through herself and this one feels stripped back and honest). also i've seen some lyrical parallels between lana and taylor through this new album and it's always nice to have an artist you love be influenced by your fave. very excited for this album

    Ok, pure speculation here but:
Lana was an alcoholic in her teens. Maybe Patty, her mom, had heard that it's important to change the environment of addicts and proposed that they'd send her to boarding school. Maybe her mom was more persistent on the idea that it was the best thing for her daughter and Lana couldn't forgive her for sending her away. "Can I come home now?" "No." There's maybe some deeper things going on too.
Maybe my mind is spiraling and is making up a fan fiction story, I dunno.

Or maybe it's just "Can I come home now?" as in desperately wanting a comforting place to live.

    I'll stop now lol.
