I can hear Lana singing dont let me be misunderstood 

She's clearly saying "I was shamed for this in the past - maybe culture's moved far enough through these other artists that I can do what I've always done, and not be shamed for it anymore." Unfortunately we live in a world where people get clicks and cash by misunderstanding people's obvious intentions ...

Love her message, love her biting back at the media, love her making art and releasing it, love her fire coming out again.
 
But the way she phrased her post makes it too easy to misinterpret her.
 
To me, she’s asking if now that it’s normal and celebrated to make songs about sex, being sexual, taking agency over your body, etc, if she can go back to writing about more raunchier topics without being dragged by the critics. She is not saying women should be judged for writing about those things, she is just pointing out how her lyrics get put down as non feminist just because she’s being more submissive to men in her sexual scenarios, as opposed to being more dominant and in power. She’s wondering if feminism has a space for women like her, who love hard and fall hard and will do anything for her man.
 
She’s not dragging other women, She just wants the freedom to sing about what she wants without being seen as weak or like someone who is against women’s rights.
 
Wish she would have phrased it better but what can you do. She’s never been the best at explaining herself, i think that’s why she makes such good art. It’s the only way she knows how to get her words across.

People refuse to understand her point of view. All they see is a grown woman dragging other female artists and being petty cause she doesn't have a number 1 hit. So dumb.

... girl what does race have to do with any of this. Her point was that all women should be able to make music about whatever they want without being scrutinized for it. Imagine if she only mentioned white women with #1s. that probably would’ve upset you too smh. She mentioned black women because those black women are TOP stars. Shouldnt you be happy about that?? Shes mentioning successful women. Its NOT a race thing. Smh smh smh

I also don't think what she posted is "unforgivable" as someone said. She's allowed to not like her mom, and we don't know what happened behind the scenes. A lot of stans dig and dig for personal information on Lana and when she gives us some those same stans don't want it, or have to critique it. I know it was probably comforting to some people who look up to Lana who don't have good relationships with their mothers to see that she doesn't have a great relationship with hers either.

isn't it a little insensitive to assume stuff about someone we don't know at all? majority of the people on this forum haven't even seen her physically in the real life, let alone spoken to her and gotten to know her. you can't assume she doesn't know stuff about "real life", but what we do know is that for some time, she helped volunteer a lot while in college, including volunteer work on indian reservations. and also, for what we know, she lived in trailer park for a little less than a year, played music in clubs and bars, and lived a fairly normal life with regular people. she wasn't filthy rich, her parents are not billionares who are so rich they have lost their grasp of reality and real people. obviously people with affluence are more likely to be out of touch with lower class people, and at this time lana may be one of these people, but that does not mean she knows nothing about real life, it makes it sound like she has never had any struggles or hardships, which is not true, we know this. 

Or she could have just changed, no one is the same person they were 10 years ago. I personally don’t think it’s a question of persona I think it’s more of a natural progression. She is no longer in her mid 20s having fun, going wild. What I’m saying is she’s in her 30s had her fun now wants to relax.

Just because Marina admitted she loves to work with women doesn't mean she's obligated to work with them or that she's not able to stop working with them, that does not make her any less feminist
