Why does Israel target Palestinian children?
Two Palestinian boys have been shot dead by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank, and more than six thousand children have been killed in Gaza. Around 250 minors are in Israeli prisons. So, why does Israel target Palestinian children?

West Bank: Spike in Israeli Killings of Palestinian Children
    https://www.hrw.org/news/2023/08/28/west-bank-spike-israeli-killings-palestinian-children
Last year, 2022, was the deadliest year for Palestinian children in the West Bank in 15 years, and 2023 is on track to meet or exceed 2022 levels. Israeli forces had killed at least 34 Palestinian children in the West Bank as of August 22. Human Rights Watch investigated four fatal shootings of Palestinian children by Israeli forces between November 2022 and March 2023.
“Israeli forces are gunning down Palestinian children living under occupation with increasing frequency,” said Bill Van Esveld, associate children’s rights director at Human Rights Watch. “Unless Israel’s allies, particularly the United States, pressure Israel to change course, more Palestinian children will be killed.”

At least 101 children killed in the West Bank this year
    https://www.savethechildren.net/news/least-101-children-killed-west-bank-year
RAMALLAH, 30 November 2023 – An eight-year-old boy shot dead in the street is one of the most recent casualties of violence in the occupied West Bank, with at least 101 Palestinian children reported killed in the West Bank this year, said Save the Children.
Since the attacks in Israel on 7 October, Israeli soldiers or settlers have killed at least 63 children in the West Bank, according to the UN, averaging more than one child a day—significantly more fatalities than in the first nine months of the already deadliest year. During this same period, the UN has reported that some 143 families, including 388 children, have been displaced from their homes in the West Bank due to settler violence and access restrictions.

I just noticed something while listening to LMLYLAW: there's a "©Lana Del Rey" there among other label and publishing info on the bottom of the screen.
Before it would just be Polydor/Interscope/Universal info. Now it says her name also! Under ALL albums on Spotify. It must've been a recent change.

Other artists' credits on the bottom of the screen say just the record label.
I read that the "℗" symbol indicates owning the masters and hers only says "©".
So what exactly is the subject of Lana's copyright here? What makes her situation different from other artists?

I have 0 knowledge of legal matters tbh. Is anyone educated enough to guess what that means?
  3. Blood Red liked a post in a topic by Andrew in Lana signed an open letter to President Joe Biden, thanking him for his ‘leadership’ and calling for the release of all Hamas hostages.
This letter says nothing wrong and Lana can put her name to it if she likes, like the many other celebrities who have. The criticism some people seem to have is what the letter doesn’t say. I personally think that celebrities shouldn’t sign open letters which tend to be broad and bland. If they really feel they must comment, a statement should be personally issued so it can be more nuanced. I can only imagine the pressure to sign them though and avoid the “Lana Del Rey refuses to condemn terrorists” stories. If you feel it’s a mistake, it’s a small one and doesn’t mean anything anyway. Stop holding her to some sort of impossible standard please. She’s just trying to be empathetic.

Just because Lana wants civilian hostages freed, doesn't mean she's "pro right wing Israeli gov" or "Anti Palestine." Could she do more to support Palestinians, sure, but the idea that people are upset with this one opinion that hostages should be free is just baffling to me.

TBH, it could also be argued that she and others could have done MORE to support the Jewish community after the 10/7 attacks, which resulted in the greatest loss of jewish life since the Holocaust, and yet you people are upset about a letter advocating for the freeing of hostages?

Genuinely shocked at this community right now....

maybe try not to be too obsessed with labeling and binary opposition concept when things aren't just black and white....

like how did you go from "pro palestine" to "zionist" all of a sudden, simply because it missed to explicitly emphasize one talking point that somehow doesnt perfectly fit the echo chamber narrative of what is considered "perfectly correct stance" by a social media platform that is ironically one of the most popular information war platforms full of edited and out of context types of short form videos?

  6. Blood Red liked a post in a topic by pinkelliot in Lana signed an open letter to President Joe Biden, thanking him for his ‘leadership’ and calling for the release of all Hamas hostages.
Excuse me ? "Because" ? Are you really trying to justify the fact that a terrorist group (=Hamas, officially labeled as that for tens of countries) killed more than 1400 people + is still holding people (including children) captive in horrible conditions today ? Justifying terrorists actions is CRAZY, I'm genuinely horrified when reading some of the posts on this thread. Am I the only one ? Just wondering . Supporting (or justifying) Hamas actions here in my country (France) is called "apologia for terrorism", and it's illegal. Don't know how it works in the US tho.
I also find it very weird for "fans" to keep saying that Lana is dumb, uneducated, that she doesn't know what she is talking about etc., every time she's saying something that YOU don't agree with. Maybe she's a grown, educated woman, who CHOSE to sign that letter because she wanted to. And maybe she wanted to sign it because she saw what Hamas did and wanted to stand by the thousands of bereaved families, just like Biden and almost all the democratic countries in the world did.
Palestinian people dying everyday is of course revolting. But let's not forget that Hamas is responsible for that too in many cases, by holding palestinians captive when they know Israel is going to bomb a specific spot for example. So they can, after that, say that Israel deliberately killed innocent people. So Israel is saw as the main villain and people forget that they're fighting against terrorism before all, that's what they want. Hamas is also calling for terrorist attacks everywhere in western countries so yes, they're the ennemies of everyone and some of you should be aware of that. Don't get me wrong, Israel's policies are far from perfect, but all they're trying to do right now is eradicate a terrorist movement that is dangerous for the whole world. They're defending themselves as they can and as every country in the whole world would have been defending its population after such an atrocious attack. They're also the only Jewish country, and they're only surrounded by countries that want them to disappear from the world map. I truly believe they try every time not to bomb innoccent people. In comparison, Hamas didn't care about killing innocent people, they did it on purpose. If Israel is supported by a majority of democratic countries, by your favorite artist and surprisingly not by your favorite IG page that is totally biased, or by "woke" people on X, maybe there's a reason for that. Everything's not a conspiracy.
So yeah, let Lana do her thing, have opinions, and unstan her if you want to. Some users on this thread tend to say very often "you don't know what you are talking about" but I don't think they know who they defend either. They're probably women, or gay men, that would be killed within a MINUTE in front of people that are part of Hamas.
I won't elaborate on the conflict even tho I think I'm pretty much aware of what's going on, but let's say that yes, everything's not all black or white. And there's a lot of disinformation going on on social media regarding Israel. Hamas is a very tactical and organized group that knows how to communicate, keep that in mind and try to inform yourself through independant media if you care.
Anyway, total support towards Lana and goddamn ... please stop trying to force on others your way of thinking, or your "facts" that are sometimes just fake news. I was so scared for my own family who lives there these days, and I'm happy to know that Lana is calling for the release of the hostages and that she's condemning what Hamas did. Tbh, shouldn't we ... all ?

Why are people infantilising Lana and stripping her agency to say “she doesn’t know what she’s doing, when this woman is incredibly intelligent and knows exactly what she’s doing. Just because Lana might be not be doing something we necessarily agree with, doesn’t mean she’s an idiot.

This and also I get there is false information in that letter but what major impact could it have anyway… id fully ignore it if Lana’s name wasn’t on it bc I do not care to read celebrities opinions since they’re normal people and I don’t expect them to be fully informed. If anyone’s influenced by a celebrity mere political opinion that must be a real empty person that can’t formulate their own.

There’s really no way to address this conflict that’s not going to piss off huge swaths of people or potentially cause more violence.
(I’m also agreeing that it’s definitely not the best letter, but not as earth shattering and some suggest)

If you expect Israel to give up ownership of the land entirely then you should also expect Americans and dozens of other colonised countries to give up land.

These arguments date back to the end of the 19th century- Palestine needs to be recognised for the abuse they have faced but I say once again- what differentiates the land taken to Australia, America, British colonies.

The deal should have been taken in 2008 with more negotiations instead of flat out refusal because sadly it was never going to improve.
You’re all living on stolen land- it’s just not broadcasted in such a public way.

    Oh that’s not-
its totally valid to criticise Israel as a state/government but let’s be careful not to generalise Jews

To play devil's advocate, if you take that message on face value then there really isn't anything too objectionable in it, WITH the exception of the beheadings (which admittedly is ignorant)
But in terms of Biden's support of IDF, it really doesn't mention or even allude to supporting that at all
To me it reads as anti-Hamas, pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian (if you're someone reading it who knows fuck all about it)
I 100% agree that she should just shut about this stuff but I don't consider that message, in and of itself, to be pro-Israeli only.
And the reason I'm saying all this is cos you know she saw a few news headlines, skimmed over this statement for 10 seconds on her iPhone and went "yeah cool"
Doesn't excuse it but once again, she doesn't think before she does stuff like this
(ETA I'm not saying I agree with/would sign this shit, I'm just trynna to deduce her possible line of thought)

And I absolutely understand and acknowledge that point of view but do you honestly think a country that has imperialist values at heart even if people don’t want to realise it with stolen land in the same vein would read a letter condemning them and even acknowledge it?

These morons feed off praise- anything that satiates their egos and makes them feel better encourages them to take action so they can affirm their moral superiority. This letter has one aim and that’s to free civilians- if a lie has to be encouraged to do so- we should discuss and dissect but also assess that maybe they know that it’s false and just to persuade Biden.
Hell Natalie and Madonna have done several pieces supporting Palestine- I don’t think they’re the enemy
  15. Blood Red liked a post in a topic by Barry in Lana signed an open letter to President Joe Biden, thanking him for his ‘leadership’ and calling for the release of all Hamas hostages.
Good points although I actually like people giving their opinion wether they are uninformed or not, then you can see what and why they think like that and then people can discuss it more with them so they find out more about it or argue with them about how they might be wrong and stuff.
Things like this though signing petitions(which I think is completely stupid and pointless for anything) I don't like as you just think why have they done this and who told them to do it and what actually is their thinking on the situation. If you are signing a petition that is public then you should also at least be commenting about it publicly also so people know what you actually think.

Tropico needed a Cola segment idc.

That song being the most iconic yet the only one without a video aside from American pains me to this very day.

Actually, two short films would have been so cool:
    Ride / Cola / American
Body Electric / Gods & Monsters / Bel Air
