idk maybe if she didn't use the jet there would be no jet usage to track down, have you tried that miss alison?

MTE. It's hard to see this as a "safety concern" or to even think safety is her main issue with this. The idea that the private jet tracker is causing her "emotional distress" when she's killing the planet to dash between her home, tour and football games is bonkers. She's like the female musical equivalent of Elon Musk, and I'm tired of both of them.

What this person is documenting isn't even illegal, it's all public information that can be easily accessed by anyone who looks for it.

it's kinda weird how people go out of their way to defend a 34 year old woman's behavior  nothing about what he's doing is an invasion of privacy because as stated, it's public info. just another example of taylor/her team being upset the narrative can't be easily controlled. oh, and the whole 'she lends her jet out to other people' excuse does not make her look any better? lmao. pearl clutching bc some college student is calling out her jet plane usage is as embarrassing as taylor sending out her lawyer to threaten them. there really is nothing stopping her from using a jet this frequently, she just doesn't care

Honestly... In a way I get why Taylor might feel uncomfortable but at the same time that student isn't killing the planet as well as the ears of millions /hj

100% with you, public information. I have no idea who Taylor thinks she is…the Queen of the universe or something. She’s not above everyone else.

If he's posting public information with a 24 hour delay there's literally no issue. I find safety concerns to be very unlikely for this lawsuit

Taylor Swift's attorneys have threatened legal action against a Florida college student who runs social media accounts tracking the flights of her and other celebrities' private jets.

Jack Sweeney, a junior at the University of Central Florida, has for years run accounts that log the takeoffs and landings of planes and helicopters owned by hundreds of billionaires, politicians, Russian oligarchs and other public figures, along with estimates of their planet-warming emissions. The accounts use publicly available data from the Federal Aviation Administration and volunteer hobbyists who can track the aircraft via the signals they broadcast.

In December, Swift's attorney at the Washington law firm Venable wrote Sweeney a cease-and-desist letter saying Swift would "have no choice but to pursue any and all legal remedies" if he did not stop his "stalking and harassing behavior".

Sweeney, 21, told The Post he saw the letter as an attempt to scare him away from sharing public data. The accounts offer only an incomplete sketch of which cities Swift might currently be in, similar to the public schedules for her concerts or any NFL games she might attend, he said. And the letters, he added, were sent to him at a time when she faced criticism over her flights' environmental impact.

Private-jet flights are criticized for their disproportionately high impact on climate change, and Sweeney's accounts have often been used to name and shame their most famous passengers. In 2022, the accounts were cited in an analysis that estimated "climate terrorist" Taylor Swift was the biggest celebrity [carbon dioxide] polluter of the year. "This information is already out there", he said. "Her team thinks they can control the world".

After receiving the letters, Sweeney said he asked for help from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights group, which sent his request to a list of attorneys. James Slater, a Florida lawyer who specializes in First Amendment and internet speech issues, responded on Sweeney's behalf to the Venable letter: "This isn't about putting a GPS tracker on someone and invading their privacy. It's using public information to track the jet of a public figure", he said. “This is their means to try to quash a PR issue and bully my client to have the bad coverage die down".

'climate terrorist' is a commonly used colloquial term for those who lack environmental compassion and/or care for emissions

they are not actively calling taylor swift an fbi watch list level terrorist

this thread has me giggling a lil actually

you do not need to defend a billionaire climate disaster polluter just because she is your fav. you can love her but also question and critique her evidently abhorrent practices, including attempting to sue people spreading publicly available info

as someone said, barbara streissand effect in full swing

p.p.s: crying blackmail over an obvious half joke is so unserious can we please critically think

even if it is, by a strict definition, blackmail, he isn't necessarily being endangered by somebody relaying PUBLIC INFORMATION, and hypothetically giving some random college student a car wouldn't harm him or impoverish him AT ALL, he is literally THE richest person on the planet, i promise you he isn't being kept up at night because some random dude is posting about already publicly-made information and because he said he'll stop if he receives a car, oh, and either way, nothing jack sweeney is doing is illegal and he shouldn't have to stop because it makes taylor swift, another billionaire, mad, she should just stop taking so many damn flights if she's so bothered by somebody posting her already-public flight information

stop defending billionaires who could literally end world hunger/homelessness with the amount of wealth they have but choose not to, and who wouldn't give a single fuck if you live or die, just as long as they're still on top

"Toilet Sniff" is immature likewise to Taylor herself and stupid, yes, but kind of funny. If you felt offended by that name as a Swiftie then... I'm sorry? but that doesn't weaken any of the valid points being made about her environmental destruction like you're trying to imply.

"Childish, conniving and manipulative bully" is true. In this case she's bullying someone who's like, two decades younger and 10000x less powerful than her. A lot of rich people use their lawyers to send threats that have no basis, hoping that the other person will relent because they can't afford a lawyer.

That's bullying and it's childish; she has fully entered villain billionaire territory. She didn't care at all until all her carbon emissions became headlines. Hard to go up against a billionaire when you're a student.

Also Lana hasn't stooped to Taylor's level of climate terrorism as far as I know, but if she (or any other celebrity for that matter) did and tried to sue a student for publicising that already public information... I'd be having the same reaction as I am right now lol. That's insane!!!
