I liked sour but LOVE this album wow

This is one of the only albums in recent years that I’ve immediately loved and didn’t need to have it grow on me. It seems to have a lot of mixed opinions but I honestly see this being a cult-classic in Olivia’s discography later on. To me it perfectly takes the themes of sour and expands upon them while sounding more mature at the same time. The melodies are super catchy and I think the production on the ballads has made them way better than most of the more forgettable ones on sour. Overall I’m obsessed!

Also, I find these types of things to be less of a cash grab and more her trying to secure a certain number debut. It’s clear she wants to get 1mil debut or more for 1989tv. 

Stream the og versions all u want but no need to come into the Taylor Swift thread to talk about how you think she’s the devil for selling merch  I think the tactics can be shady but also I really dgaf because I’m not dumb enough to buy four vinyls of the same album

Well yeah, but most kids don't have like that crazy amount of money to buy all these expensive stuff together, the money comes mostly from their parents and weird is that some parents actually let them buy that many merch. Maybe it's just an American thing because I haven't seen that kind of things in Europe.

It's kinda weird seeing Lana fans complain over Taylor and her team releasing many versions of her albums as if Lana and her team hasn't done the same thing (especially in COTCC era) and the fans going as crazy for this as Swifties do

I feel like some people like Swifties (and sometimes Lana fans) take buying merch too seriously, no one really forces you to do that  

You really can't deny that she takes advantage of her fans' parasocial relationship with her. It's very blatant and she has absolutely no shame about it. This is the same woman that drops different vinyl variations one at a time for a limited time only instead of just dropping them all at once. The same woman that released 4 "Journal Versions" of Lover with each having a different journal so fans will buy 4 copies. The same woman that made the back of the different Midnights variations on both vinyl and CD form a clock so fans would buy all 4, along with a clock stand for both vinyl and CD. And it doesn't end there. She's not your friend, she's a business woman. Putting energy into defending her and telling people to stream the (inferior) "Taylor's Version"s of albums is crazy to me. (mainly directed at the twitter swifties, haven't see much of that behaviour on here)

I really hope there will be more articles like this in the future, also on other artists, as I hope it might cause some controversy so artists don't dare to release too many variants and especially don't copy Taylor's release tactics of 48 hours availability. 
 

this is why no matter how much effort taylor puts into them, the rerecordings will never be as good as the originals. you can't recapture lightning in a bottle.

But is "stealing" the right word when that was the contract she signed and Scooter Braun had all of the legal rights to buy them?  It's not just a Taylor thing, most artists don't own their masters unfortunately. That's just how the music industry works.
 
Like wow, this poor billionaire… having to share a fraction of earnings with a music industry guy. Trust she doesn't need anyones' extra money, but she knows her fans and she knows what she wants: $$$…… further evidenced by this whole CD/vinyl debacle within these last few pages.

lol i just watched it today
i really liked it. its fun! i feel like the people who disliked it just didnt get the irony or just chose not to see it
ill say that when i read that the movie was about 'barbie goes to the real world' i could see where it would go but it was more than that!!
i got a bit emocional with the scenes of barbie thinking about the real world. this feeling was really good but it faded so quick that im thinking of watching it again so im paying attention enough to soak it and understand it idk
i was so into it i wasnt expecting to end with that scene at all. i want more it was so fast for a 2hrs movie😭 thats what i want when i go to the movies not to care ab the time -even though the seat wasnt that good but i payed $8

Watched it today and it was soo fun. Haven't seen people this excited to go to the movies in so long. There wasn't a single empty seat and people were all dressed up in pink, it was real cute. The last movie I saw in theaters was Super Mario Bros and it was near empty in there lmao. When I went to see Bones and All it literally WAS empty like literally just me and my friend bshdfb (it wasn't that big of a movie but still...). People really don't go to the cinema like they used to here. Very iconic that a movie about Barbie became such a cultural phenomenon and managed to do all this.
