i think the song is great too. it’s annoying to see people hating on it because it’s not her typical glitch eccentric pop that they’ve all come to expect and love but i am so relieved she is trying new sounds finally, it was getting BORING. not to say i particularly love good ones or new shapes but i think they’re both consistent and great additions to her discography.
 
new shapes is most definitely a promo single also. it’s clear there is no intention to actually push it any farther than what they have done already, and technically good ones is still climbing on radio, so

Ok so New Shapes is incredibly well written and produced. Like this song is perfectly crafted. I truly don’t understand the people that are saying it’s basic or disjointed? My best guess is that some of y’all aren’t versed enough in the inspo(or 80s rhythmic/dance-pop in general)? Also Christine and Caroline really elevate the song, allowing New Shapes to outclass Good Ones IMO (& I mean no hate to good ones, but it is the more basic of the two). Plus I love when Charli has a girl group moment, it really ups the replayability of the song for me.
 
Also why is no one talking about how much it slays lyrically? The song kinda ripped my heart out but made me dance whilst. Charli serves us her usual avoidant attached self, but then we get Christine & Caroline to give us the flip side experience of the anxious attached partner (which HITS for me). It’s a bop with depth y’all!

Ed Sheeran is the male equivalent to Adele; in the sense they are both incredibly popular for making the same album at every turn and getting a shit ton of praise and accolades from the industry. But at least Adele can belt. I can't stand the bland ginger. 

This is not about any artist in particular, but I have trouble getting into the catalog of any artist who doesn’t write their own music, or who you can tell contributed one small thing and got a writing credit. I know pop stars aren’t required to write music, that they are performers, but for me, it dampens the quality of how genuinely and powerfully the art speaks to me. I don’t want to just dance around to a song, I want to FEEL IT IN MY BONES AND CRY

I like Adele's personality, there is something very candid and endearing about her, but she's made the same music for like four albums in a row. Not saying there aren't any songs that I like, but her albums are completely indecipherable from the other, and for that reason I do not care.

Sam Smith is the most annoying, whiny ass person i have ever heard in music. Stay With Me was so irritating like bruh you’re not gonna magically find love from a one night stand be realistic with yourself and your expectations
also their cover of I Feel Love is singlehandedly the WORST cover i have ever heard. Donna Summer is ROLLING in her grave from it. If she was alive and heard it she would no doubt become an outspoken homophobe and i don’t blame her.
