it’s like das me by brooke is so raunchy, in your face and sexual as hell but still somehow cleverly written and has an amazing message whilst being a BOP. whatever kim was trying to do fell so flat and comes across as lazy, cringeworthy, and unbearable to listen to. it’s not even like she had to make the songs empowering and reclaiming what being a slut is, but where’s the effort? there’s a way to make sex songs and kim has no clue how to pull it off

and the way she marketing her EP is kind of ... off for me tho...
Like okay, she wants to express her slutty side, sexuality and stuff but at the same time... her "slut" propaganda is kind of concerning for me... like does she think this is what women should be represented? Don't get me wrong, i dont know how to explain this concept into words but if any of you guyes heard "Das Me" by Brooke Candy (or just Brooke Candy in general), you'll probably know what i mean - there's just very different vibe in a way she reclaim the "slut" thing into a female liberation, meanwhile Kim is... i dont know about that... it's giving me Demi Lovato posting the "girls - be a slut" on ig story.

i think you misunderstood the point i was trying to make

    a. people need to stop being afraid of the term "hyperpop" - the so-called "experimental" music she's made SO FAR has fit within the genre of hyperpop - this doesn't mean it's bad this doesn't mean i don't like it but it's what the genre of music is and trying to deny that is just wrong

    b. i'm not one of the twitter gays that have been shitting on crash - i actually think this is some of the best music she's made in awhile so yes i agree with you 100% there

    c. i absolutely don't mind her collaborations with ag but i'm a bit confused on what you mean when you say "that kind of approach" - if you're talking about the pc music / hyperpop sound then it's profitable because she's pandering to what people want but i wouldn't even call it experimental anymore - it's good that she enjoys it and i'll take any music she's gonna make but it's become boring and predictable at this point and it contradicts with what charli said in the rolling stone article on how she wanted to make people feel a bit uncomfortable with her music - she can absolutely make music with ag that doesn't fit the hyperpop sound and i hope she continues to experiment in DIFFERENT ways in the future

It’s 1000% a twirl track and I love it so much

I'm not even gonna lie she's ABSOLUTELY serving face and body in this era. Her outfits are everything and her makeup and hair always looks flawless. The only issue is the music that she's releasing!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't a huge fan of some of the singles that have been put out so far. Baby is my fav, Good Ones is a bop buuuut she sampled Mirrors by Natalia Kills so I'd honestly rather listen to that if I were to choose between the two, Beg for You is... okay, New Shapes is NOT for me. The more singles she releases the less I have hope for the album, which makes me sad because I was so excited for it  I don't want to criticize her too much because she's THE Charli XCX, she knows how to blow everyone away, but this era is not doing it for me right now. This bitch KNOWS how to pull off mainstream, 'industry plant' pop because she's practically done it before. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that she's getting some more recognition and I'm happy that she's happy. I just need the album to pop off and change my mind because my current thoughts based on the singles aren't super positive.

Seeing people on this thread talk about Kim's new EP being a masterpiece makes me want to sob. It's the worst thing she's ever released and I dreaded talking about it because of how much it made me cringe.
Kim, you're a grown woman. You're also a rape apologist. If you're gonna be an awful person at least have some talent left in you girly!

    LOUDER GORL, SAY IT LOUDER.
Just have to give u a round of applause because THE WISE is served.
At this point i do agree with you. She is pulling out her trans card to literally cover up her sketchy behavior. I wonder if she grabs any amount of conception at what is RIGHT & WRONG, or just simply use "trans card" to as a bubble to shield her from the controversy.

i also wish she could use her platform to talk about trans education and rights instead of........ whatever this is.

this tweet just solidified what i was thinking after slutpop dropped-- kim petras absolutely cannot keep up with the false persona she has tried to present to the world. and when things start to crack, so does she. this tweet is a giant reach and it is OBVIOUS she is deflecting her terrible choices by saying she receives criticism because of being trans........ just insanity.

to refer to people on twitter that call her out for this rape-apologist-behavior TERFs is so fucking ignorant and is almost trans-exclusionary in and of itself. is kim petras the only artist who also happens to be trans? absolutely not lmfao. sophie xeon, teddy geiger, chase icon, arca, dorian electra...... all exceptionally talented trans/NB artists who don't get criticised for working with rapists.......... cause they don't work with KNOWN rapists and then tell their fans they would never work with someone SHE BELIEVED to be an abuser of women. her words.

and i was a major major fan of miss kimmy honestly. i looked the other way for way too long on this issue and i feel gross and sick that i supported somebody like this lmao. she'll never get another dollar from me as long as she works with luke. i have been preaching about freeing britney since before i heard about petras, and i don't know why i turned a blind eye. but not anymore. i can't be out here yelling about freeing britney, amanda bynes, wendy williams, bam margera, sam williams, etc without SHOUTING at the top of my lungs about free kesha.

and kim petras should really consider herself lucky she's not in a situation like kesha cause it happens sooo frequently in the industry. why be complicit when you could be an advocate? and why surround yourself with people who prove themselves to be pretty bad people..... you become the company you keep. and maybe we could all overlook it if the music were getting was like good or worth a damn. but it's not. so

Honestly I do like Treat Me Like A Slut for what it is (specifically the verses, chorus still cringey tbh) but the rest of the EP is so bad bskdjf. Throat Goat was a full on Ayesha rip off it wasn’t even subtle.. I would’ve probs liked this EP if it was released in like 2019 tbh, but yeah probs won’t listen to it again.

hi girls, i've been a longtime charli stan but i'm a newbie in this site so bear with me lol

i'm sadly not feeling this era, which sucks because i know how much it means to charli. i think baby is a bop and so is good ones but the other 2 singles aren't hitting that hard for me. but honestly i feel like this type of sound is so been there done that with pop girls and it sucks to see charli cave in to it after giving us such innovative material over the years. of course ill wait to hear the full album, maybe my perception will change but this sound is kinda boring to me lol. i'm not one of those snobs who is like she MUST do pc music forever!1!1! but i wish to see something more inspiring and not songs that almost any other indie girl can sing, but maybe that's just me.

i think what makes n1a so special is that it hits the mark for both audiences, the pc girls like us and the gp with basic taste all in one. i get that her and atlantic are trying to cater to the gp but some of the people who care about her more (us) are losing interest instead because we know she can be more inspiring.

sorry for the paragraph lol ive been lurking and wanted to get that out.

i completely agree. i think baby is absolutely amazing and good ones isn’t bad but this era isn’t my favorite so far. it’s not that i want charli to do super experimental pc music again, i just think she could give us more memorable and hard hitting pop music than the singles that've been released. everything has felt pretty lackluster for me, however i don’t think every era that an artist has is gonna be my cup of tea. this era hasn’t been bad, just not my type of music. the amount of people attacking her on twitter honestly disgusts me because her new music appeals to a LOT of people even if it doesn’t appeal to me and i can appreciate that. if charli enjoys the music she’s releasing then i’m happy for her. baby gives me a lot of hope for the album though so maybe she’ll make me change my mind about not loving this era once it’s out

Y'all I am SO sick of whatever the fuck Kim is doing right now with her music. What happened to the spark she had during the neon border phase???? Why won't she put that much passion and creativity into her new music??????? Her three recent TikTok snippets are giving me a headache from how overused and unoriginal they are. "treat me like a slut" "this throat Lady Gaga" GIRL? What happened to the bubbly, adorable, bratty girl from IDWIAA or the vocal power from Heart to Break? Not to mention Coconuts was a complete disaster and I'll never forgive TikTok for blowing that shit up.
Mama needs to get her shit straight and figure out what the hell she's doing but until then I'm gonna judge from a distance
Edit: This sounds TOO picky but someone had to say it. I still love her but y'all can admit something is wrong and she's not putting her best foot forward. She isn't serving the pop princess energy that we all know damn well she's capable of.

I've been a Melanie fan for quite some time, probably around 5/6 years, and I have a lot to say.
Crybaby truly was and will always be a masterpiece. I love that album with my whole entire being and still go back to admire the genius songwriting and vocals that younger Mel had. I don't think there's one single skip on that album and it's so easy to introduce people to her music with Crybaby. There's so many great things about it I genuinely don't even know where to start.
Now, K-12. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it! I just wanted something more from her. It felt boring and overused at this point. Why would I listen to K-12, an album about generic kiddy stuff with boring instrumentals, when I could listen to Crybaby that has so much more depth? Again, I didn't hate it, I actually do enjoy some (if not most) of the songs. Just not my cup of tea.
Her After School EP was absolute garbage. I don't think I liked one single song on it... maybe minus The Bakery. I'm just sick of the kiddy stuff from her! She's grown! I didn't like her vocals, the instrumentals, the lyrics, nothing. I need change from her.
I just hope her next album gives me something to fawn over again. Her getting involved with NFT's honestly pushed me away even further. I don't hate Melanie but I'm sick of the same thing getting recycled and made into something worse. I'll always hold her to the standard of Crybaby because I KNOW she's capable of so much more than what she's currently putting out.
Hopefully this makes sense or resonates with people.
