It’s crazy how people can claim to stan Lana but not understand that she’s an incredibly selfish artist. She doesn’t make music for us 😭, she makes it for herself which she has said numerous times, whether we like it or not. So if she wants to make 20 piano albums, she’s gonna make 20 piano albums!!!

Good there’s so much more lyrical analysis that can be done just from Fingertips…I feel like it might be the heart of the album that connects to the other songs on the album

The funny part is that you can still hear some of them mess up the lyric 😭

Honestly I feel like this album is gonna really be for people who care to know who Lana the person is, and her past rather than the “sound”. She’s never been as blunt (yet still poetic), as she’s been with these singles. BB was kinda scratching the surface, but this album seems to be completely open.

I’d even go as far to say that in A&W she might have even admitted to having been r*ped. But I think that went over peoples head since it’s hard to know where the persona starts and where it ends. But after singing that r*ped line, she follows it up by singing  with a sneer “on top of this, so many other things you can’t believe”. Seemingly confirming that the r*ped line is actually true, among other things people couldn’t believe due to her reputation.

I don’t know just some thoughts, I think a lot of things get interpreted wrong due to the persona, but I honestly think the persona has faded away gradually since NFR.

I’ll shut up about this fascinating topic (which I’m sure would also be of Lana’s interest, judging by her lyricism and opinions made public) because it’s apparently irrelevant to some people when the discourse diverges from some variation of “Harry Nilsson has a song (…)”, “she’s so mother!” or vinyl color palettes.

Anyways fuck Patty, her voice breaks at 2:05, Jimmy Jimmy cocoa puff, legend slay boots the house down  or some shit like that. Carry on.

I don’t know too much about Annie Mac, but the monolithic kind of feminism you mention here is exactly the kind of mob that has come for Lana time and time again. Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth suggesting that Lana kill herself is exactly the kind of abolitionist, moral exile that extreme thinkers — in any direction — do to people who don’t fit their agenda. And it’s also super black-and-white when pretty much every issue is nuanced. I can know what my values are without feeling the need to dictate the kind of political or theoretical framework people use to interpret their own experiences - but that’s something that both sides often struggle with. And it’s become worsened with the accessibility of discourses online where social regulation of dialogue is less controlled (in the sense of etiquette, not in the sense of free speech and ideas being out in the open)

Her interview with Billboard pretty much confirmed that for me. She's in her singer-songwriter era, and has been for a moment. I still think that she has it in her to make something interesting sonically as well and we'll get that on the album--but she said it herself, she's not in the mood for bombastic the b-word music.
