The way she sings Ride now breaks my heart but also makes me smile.

I feel like she’s admitting that she’s only putting out songs like “High by the Beach” & “White Mustang” because she thinks it’ll appeal to the general public, but it never does. Probably for some reason she doesn’t understand, the remix of “Summertime Sadness” was her only smash hit (of course there were VG, BJ, + Y&B but when most people think Lana Del Rey they typically only recall the summertime sadness remix) Even in the Complex interview last year the interviewer said to her “Is it weird that it’s probably your biggest hit?” and she replied with “Really?? You’re gonna say that?? Well, you’re probably right...”
 
But then again, right after she sings the lyric, she beams a huge smile. Because I think she knows that all of that aside, it doesn’t matter that she isn’t an artist that produces “hits” because she doesn’t need them. She’s won all of us without it. She has all of us waiting out for hours in the freezing winter weather all over the world to fill an arena just to see her for 90 minutes. But it’s always so worth it to us, and we do it over and over. & she knows that. She feels the love we give her. And she gives us that love back. At one of the other dates, in the middle of Ride she just kind of stopped and said “Do you all know how much you mean to me?” and just smiled and looked at the crowd for a bit before continuing the song.
 
She knows we love her because of who she is, and she loves us back just as much.

It's a shame people still get away with doing that

I'm gonna make some points for you May 26th deniers:
 
- Multiple major magazines like Rolling Stone and NME (just to name a few) have said it'll be out May 26th. I doubt they are allowed to publish false dates.
 
- Paris Match is the only magazine to say it'll be out in July. I'm either gonna guess that Lana purposely gave them a false date to deter leakers, OR since I'm assuming the interviewer was French, she may have misunderstood Lana.
 
- All this promo/magazine shoots/interviews Lana is doing at this point in time would be kinda pointless if an album weren't to be released this month or early June. By the time July arrives, all the hype will have diminished.
 
- Lots of you guys have called up your local Targets, HMV stores, local record shops etc. Some have said the stores don't know when they'll get the record, some are saying next week, some are saying maybe a little later than that (digital release first, psychical copy later). I don't think I came across a person who was told by their local record store that they would get shipments in July

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting Lana to be more active in terms of providing more than just bare minimal effort for her fans, and it certainly doesn't mean she has to "sell out." No one is saying she owes us anything. It is, however, disappointing to be fans of someone who literally does almost nothing beyond just dropping the album and releasing a few subpar music videos. Yes, the music is great and lovely and at the end of the day we will all listen to it, but it quickly runs dry.
 
Lana doesn't care for being mainstream, and I don't blame her after what she went to, nor would it suit her either. However!! Not being mainstream doesn't mean she should literally just scrape by with doing almost nothing. Lana should take advantage of being on such a large label and use their resources to craft eras that she feels comfortable with.
 
For example, she hates singing live television -- why not record a few intimate performances of your favourite songs off the album and post them on Youtube periodically throughout the year? Just her and the band.
 
She doesn't like extensive & exhausting promotion -- you don't want to appear on TV mopping the floor with Jimmy Fallon, fine, we get it. Why not just host a few livestreams that last more than 30 seconds so your fans can see/interact with you??
 
Interviews depress you & make you want to kill yourself because the questions are always dumb and passive aggressive -- why not do a Q/A with your fans where you get to pick the exact questions you want to answer?
 
Lana seems to really like the process of actually making the album and then quickly loses interest in it almost immediately to move on to the next one. Why not document the entire album recording process, showing us how she crafts each song, talking about the history/meaning behind each one...
 
Idk. There's lots of things she can do to make the fan experience a whole lot better + remain completely comfortable in LA going to work or the coffee shops. The fact also remains that she won't maintain her popularity/sales at this level of effort and will quickly lose the ability to even make the kind of music she really wants to.
