When is Galactico, Tropico’s sister, coming? I need it more than ever now.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if Lana were not a telepathic witch robot alien who lives in the center of the moon in a mansion bathed in artificial sublight where she keeps a collection of every rose mentioned in earthly literature and plays on a vintage record player the top hits in 1949 while making calls to various world leaders in an attempt to facilitate world peace while, if necessary, utilizing her psychic abilities to subtly influence politicians to do her bidding for the sake of human expansion throughout the galaxy and eventually the universe, to which end she will work tirelessly, immortal until her duty is fulfilled.

I can't imagine it but I think it would be interesting

i think that made it a really good first step, though. like, sure it's a tad formulaic and cliche, but i think that makes it familiar and palatable enough to warm mainstream audiences up to the idea of lgbt romcoms and such
and for the record, i still ate it up and absolutely loved it lmaooooooo

i don't recall ever reading this in the lanalysis thread -- in one of the handful of blog posts Chris C did on Lizzy, he shared screenshots of their messages and a poem she commented on:

the blog is pretty telling. Chris was married w/kids, but talking to Lizzy and another girl named Sarah online. looks like he ended up meeting Sarah, but never met Lizzy before things dissolved. he also seems to suggest that Lizzy didn't really harbor the same feelings for him that he had for her, and he regarded her as more of a muse than a lover

also, sorry if this has already been shared! it was very new to me

So, after scrolling through what's available on Rob's Facebook, I'm just kind of... in awe. I'd like to make a more detailed, coherent post later, after doing some more reading, to connect him to certain songs -- but, for now, I just need to get thoughts out. Firstly, I'm just heartbroken at all the people who seem to really miss his presence -- he seemed to be a truly sweet guy who really impacted everyone he was around.

Secondly, I'm feeling more and more that he's the missing link we've been looking for in Lana's music. I'm not sure if the time fits, but I can't help but reattribute a song like "Kill Kill" -- "I'm in love with a dying man/I have done everything I can..." -- to him, rather than K. I think she could've surrounded him with a lot of metaphorical death imagery, in her fear that she might lose him to drugs.

Also, from reading the Facebook posts by his family, I'm gathering that he traveled a lot -- could this be the real-life inspiration for a song like "1949" -- which is obviously lifted from "Lolita", but could also carry a personal meaning for Lana, as she wishes he could take her on one of these globetrotting trips with him? It fits with the themes of "Yayo", of escaping with him.

Also, I can't help but think that he's almost certainly the subject of "For K, Pt. 2", with the original demo being called "Rehab", and such. So, my question is, could she have met Rob early enough that he could be the subject of even the earliest K songs? For one, I know the name K has been believed to refer to a different man in her life, whose name I won't say here, but I really think K could be Rob -- couldn't the "death row" references just be another metaphor for her fear of losing him to death? I'm feeling that she knew he'd hear these early songs (maybe she even played them for him!), so she gave his character a pseudonym, and a fictionalized vice, so he wouldn't know that she was singing about his drug problem.

It's a lot to take in, and I may be far off the mark. I read all the info late last night, so I need time to reprocess it, but I thought I'd at least get this initial information out of my head in some way.

Also, I don't think this is *actually* significant, but... it's kind of funny. Names and pictures (except for his first name) have been blacked out for privacy, so I hope it's okay to post this here:

OMG I didn't think about this. She will literally be forced to drop the Poppy character in the courtroom.    LMAOOO imagine if she didn't tho

Judge: "Ms. Pereira, it's come to my atten-"

Poppy: "Hi, I'm Poppy. The internet is fun. I'm Poppy! Do you know the meaning of life? My computer is my best friend. I'm Poppy."

Judge: "Excuse me, but this is a professional environment, and a serious case in which you should be concerned about."

    Poppy: *starts bleeding from mouth*

The fact that all of you are forcing comparisons to CMBYN not only reenforces the fact that none of you even understood what that movie was about but is also playing into this annoying notion that there is one singular LGBTQ+ narrative and that these narratives need to compete. If you didn't like CMBYN thats 100% fine but idk why you're talking about it here.

Anyways I haven't seen the movie yet but I read the book a couple months ago and I really enjoyed it. It was a little more YA novel than I like at this point but I think a lot of the themes in it are so universal that I ended up loving it anyways. I'm well out of my adolescence at this point but I really wish this novel/movie had been around when I was in that 15-18 range, I think a narrative like this would have helped younger me so much more than the other YA garbage I was reading at that age. Reading it now as someone who has been out of that time of my life for awhile it still really pulled at my heartstrings about the nervousness and shame that comes around being in the closet and the cathartic release of finally getting it off your shoulders. From what I've seen the movie looks like it stays roughly true to the book's original plot line and I'm so happy that it's getting such a crazy warm response. I love that the movie is accessible to the average adolescent/teenager who may be struggling to realize their sexuality in the mess of finding yourself. In high school, all I wanted to be was normal and accepted, and the idea of being gay seemed to go directly against that. It would have been nice to walk into a theater, see this movie and realize just how possible that is (it also would have helped with a lot of internalized hatred about myself for being gay and not normal).

I really do think the representation is great and I think it's extremely important to have different LGBTQ+ narratives in popular culture. Moonlight (while the film wasn't necessarily about being gay), Call Me By Your Name, Love Simon, Gods Own Country are all extremely different films and it's so cool to be in a time where these narratives are being put at the forefront of culture. When I was younger I knew I was attracted to men (I felt I was also attracted to women) but society had conditioned me to believe that I was not gay or bi because I didn't want to dress in drag and dance in a thong in a club. I know that sounds really stupid but as a pre-teen/adolescent I never really saw LGBTQ+ representation beyond the common stereotypical media tropes. So I think it's really cool that there are these types of narratives and I hope to see tons more.

She did a instagram live last night and she was super cute! She was super emotional, said that the album is just for us, that she wants to know what songs we want her to make videos, because she has ideias for every single song, she just doesnt have the money to make a visual album. A lot of people commented In My Dreams. She wants to collab with Lana too but they don't have time to meet up and record now, but they will definitely do it in the future. She was so surprised and happy with the reception of the album.
Shes so sweet, let's stream the album the more that we can, she really deserves this and did this for us.

So when Lana reveals her true identity as alien queen and takes over the world, will we her most loyal fans get privileges and special treatment for supporting her even before she broke down all of the world's governments?
