well what to say…. This is disappointing, the last few years have been so much better. I’m going to buy only the Paramore record and maybe Wallows (I wanted to get Lilly Allen too but it’s a picture disc unfortunately and I just can’t stand them….)

I don't really look at Lana vinyl prices anymore since I have a complete collection but I just looked at how much some of the rarer vinyl is selling for now on ebay and WOW I am so glad I am over and done with building my collection

i am new to vinyl/ cd collecting but i LOVE it!! something about having a hard copy of my favorite music is so comforting and it’s so much fun when they come with little posters and things.

i ordered the sag yes tk heaven/ black beauty picture disk like a month ago and it still isn’t here but i’m so excited for it

i’m gonna pick up songs to no one and maybe how does that grab you or the chris isaak one. unsure if i will pick up the noah kahan olivia rodrigo 7” for my brothers girlfriend as a gift, depends how many my store gets i’d hate to take it if there’s people who are waiting out for it lol!

Totally nothing 😂🙈 RSD rarely has anything from my favorite artists - luckily I have to say. This day kinda became a reseller's fiest 🙄

 

My latest buys were the new Shakira album (omg, I go crazy for the artworks of the Ruby variant I bought), blue variant of Beyoncé's cowboy Carter (waiting for me at the post office), Kylie's body language (😍 omg, finally) and 2 variants (red target / fantastic Amazon green swirl) of the latest JLo album.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I’m getting tired of artists putting out 50 variants and not a single one is standard black. I’m also tired of people complaining that any black pressing they see is automatically “boring”

black pressings usually end up being the best sounding i think but i appreciate the option of variety. i always prefer to get the vinyl that has a colour/pattern that matches the cover artwork

this might seem stupid, ive never had a vinyl or played one, so im curious, how do you know where to put the needle to play a song, like from the middle of the album?

there should be a slim smooth line with no grooves on just before each song, you try to aim the needle to land on one of those the best you can

or you just play it normally and wait for the song you wanna play to come on which is probably safer and easier

Ok so, i am currently going through the painstaking task of organizing my massive vinyl collection. Full disclosure: it’s fucking big. Like really big. And i don’t mean that as a brag because when you’re as disorganized as me it becomes a monumental task to put things away, even find stuff at times. I have over 1,000 records for sure, but i’m currently trying to alphabetize them by artist and get a exact count along the way. I’m undecided if they should be organized by genre as well. The only issue with organizing by genre is the fact that my collection is 95% random metal stuff and like 5% other mainly being pop and electronic. So going by genre seems a little futile.

Thinking of selling some of my vinyls, mainly my alternate Lana pressings because a) its kind of crazy to have multiple of 1 album and b) i don’t have a quality player so I haven’t been playing them since finding out cheap record players will damage the vinyl.  

 

Does anyone know the safest way to ship a vinyl if I were to resell them online? When I order them they always come in like a box designed for vinyls but I never saved those. Will a regular carboard box be fine? Should I fill the gaps with bubblewrap

or something?

I've sold a ton of my vinyl and I buy the record mailer boxes for them on Amazon (or save boxes from when I get new records in the mail). Yes it sucks to have to buy shipping material but that's just a cost you build into the price you're selling the records for.

I personally wouldn't ship them in a regular box. If the vinyl is moving around a box during shipping, you're risking the vinyl or sleeve becoming damaged and then you might end up with an unhappy buyer who might demand a refund.

I once had someone ship a 7" picture disc to me in a giant empty box, with absolutely no stuffing inside of any kind, and that record went flying around every direction to the point it completely cut through all four sides of the PVC sleeve during shipping, and arrived warped. One the the most expensive records I ever bought (I'm talking hundreds of dollars here, it was a Taylor Swift RSD release) was shipped literally between two pieces of cardboard cut from a box, and then taped together around it. To be fair, the record arrived fine, but I still can't believe that person shipped it like that.

I always mention in my listings that I ship in a record mailer just to give buyers peace of mind before they buy. I actually get paranoid buying secondhand sometimes because you have no idea how the person will ship it. I'd say probably about 85% of the time I buy records secondhand, they use the record mailers, either new ones or reused ones.

If you don't want to commit to buying boxes, maybe you could ask any friends who buy records to save their boxes for you? I guess it depends how many you're planning to sell.
