NME about Lana : “Why is it that somebody like Jack Kerouac or Charles Bukowski is universally revered by @beam_me_up_softboi entrants, who are able to nonchalantly separate the artist from the art? In a similar way, Vladimir Nabokov – who Lana Del Rey references numerous times – is regarded separately to his fictional depiction of paedophilia in Lolita. And meanwhile there’s an assumption that art by women is squarely autobiographical – employ a bit of creative licence, or depict a protagonist with questionable morals, and you’re an irresponsible role model – worse, a fraud. And so, Lana Del Rey has historically been unpicked and scrutinised in the past.”

Somebody needs to spam this all over that Rantano review of every Lana record.

love song is just so boring and cheap and it just drags on and on like what was she thinking when throwing it in the middle of the tracklist...

it would be okay near the end of the tracklist where no one cares for it but why in the middle between all the bops :noparty:

The download link I got from buying the vinyl has TNBAR named as "The Next Best American Record (Standard Production Master)" and FIILY as "Fuck it I love you- RE1" while all the other songs are just their titles.

Anyone know what's up with that?

TNBAR: probably was a tag for the record company not to mistake it with the demo?!?

FIILY: the song has two productions. The one in the video has drums but the one on vinyls and Cd doesn’t as much.

Basically it says that a lot of male artists and authors get away with creating fictional characters or personas (think David Bowie) without the press calling them fake or frauds whereas Lana has received a lot of bad press over the years for selling an image of herself that wasn’t believable or morally appropriate. But now that she has stripped it back a little with NFR everyone is praising her artistry. That’s why I said this should be spammed all over that Rantano reviewer who’s been mansplaining Lana’s art for years and now all of a sudden she’s good. Fuck that.
