I'm halfway through and this is the first Lana album I've ever not connected with on the first listen. I feel like subconsciously I kinda expected this which is why I put off listening to it. Maybe it was a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I'm kinda bitter, I feel like this album might've meant more to me on its Sep 5th release date when I start getting in a more melancholic mood for autumn/winter. Now that it's March, COVID cases are down, nicer weather is on the way, spring is about to begin, vaccinations are ramping up, I've had very positive big changes in my personal life, I'm just in the mood for hype music and this is obviously nothing close to that, and I never expected that, but I just don't feel aligned with the ethos of this album at all lol.

Is this how it feels for people who don't "get" Lana's music to listen to her music? :flop:  I legit feel bored, and I can't help but think of parodies of Lana while I listen to this.  Maybe this is a result of my perfect image of Lana being ruined throughout 2020 with her repeated problematic behavior.

Maybe I'll like it better now on future listens now that I know what to expect, or maybe it'll be better when I'm feeling down.

Also, Wild at Heart rips off one of her older songs, something on NFR? I can't place it. What is it? It was like copy + paste.

i may or may not have just spent an hour and a half reediting the white dress mv with the recent pawn shop blues mv and old lizzy mvs because i ran out of clips :air: for my own personal enjoyment i guess since i don't think anyone cares that much but i love it even though it's very very very homemade

I think this album is better than NFR. The production sounds better to me. The vocals are better. It's more cohesive. The lyrics are good on all the songs while some on NFR I found lacking.

Dark But Just a Game sounds like a lost Britpop classic and I'm absolutely obsessed with it. :flutter:

Exactly :defeated: she needs to make an entire album in this vein

Despite me not connecting with the album on first listen, I do love that Lana continues to evolve and change with each album and in her own unique way. She never keeps things static for too long. It makes each album special.

I really loved how the album started with White Dress which was immediately unique compared to anything else she''s released. I also think it's the song that meant the most to me lyrically.

The buildup of Tulsa Jesus Freak was really good. I can see why the album was almost called White Hot Forever.

Breaking Up Slowly stood out to me musically.

Glad you love it. :) I rank it second right now i think. i do love ultraviolence, but the bonus tracks are some of her worst songs ever, and i detest the other woman. the rare lana song i can't listen to past the 10 second mark

Thank You! Ultraviolence is my all time favorite, but Lana does not have a bad album, maybe a few filler tracks, but most songs are wonderful, especially incorporated listening in a full setting of each album. I am happy that she seems to have found her own lane and she stays in it, doesn't try to become part of whatever trend is gaining ground in current music, I respect that and am grateful. She's got the best voice of her peers and the most interesting sound, at the moment, the whole of her works.

Baby now You do~

Zella Day and Weyes Blood SMASH For Free. Witch sisters with our queen. It's my second favorite cover she's ever done for an album besides The Other Woman. Lordt this album is too short. Thank God it has the most replay value almost because of that.

Yes! For me it's her best cover. I am so glad she decided to ask Zella and especially Weyes to join her cause they sound like a beautiful dream. I love the harmonies and the mother-nature flower-girls daisy fresh atmosphere they create.
