baddisease 17,648 Posted Saturday at 04:37 PM Butch Ware is clarifying his statements on Twitter: Quote I am neither a Pro-life ‘abortion banner’ nor a transphobe. I believe firmly in the sacred dignity of every single human being. It saddens me to have to announce this, because I have NEVER - in public or in private - taken a position against a woman’s right to choose, or against the rights of the lgbtq and trans communities to live the lives they choose. Yesterday I was made aware of the hurt caused by the proliferation of two shorts clip of my recent comments on a political interview program. These comments were taken out of context and used to paint me as holding views I fundamentally reject. Let me be clear: the values I stand for and the principles I uphold are rooted in full inclusion, respect, and justice for all communities, especially our LGBTQAI2S+ family, who have long been at the forefront of the Green movement for equality. The remarks in question, presented in a hostile interview, were misrepresented through selective editing to suggest otherwise. In context, I was engaging in what I thought was a discussion of a nuanced policy on Olympic inclusion based on information shared by the IOC, not making a statement against trans inclusion. Unfortunately, certain individuals have chosen to distort my words, weaponizing them to undermine our movement and campaign. In my eleven-week crash course into the world of electoral politics, I have learned that unethical people are paid good money to twist the words and sully the name of good people. They turn midnight into high noon with selective editing, cherry-picking sound bites to produce ‘gotcha’ moments that never were. The fear and desperation of democrats to drive a wedge into the Green Party base has driven this process into overdrive. They have now been caught multiple times trying to utilize black talk radio to further this agenda. Throughout my career, I have been a vocal advocate for queer rights, and I remain committed to the liberation of all marginalized communities. It is a priority for me to stand alongside trans and queer individuals in every fight for equity, including the urgent struggle against violence targeting queer and trans women of color. I know that the misperception caused by these comments has hurt members of the LGBTQ+ community, especially those who have felt misrepresented or unprotected. For that, I am truly sorry. I have already spoken with the officers of the National Lavender Greens Caucus and appreciate their willingness to engage in open, honest conversation on this matter. I am committed to continuing this dialogue beyond the immediate demands of this election season, to ensure that our party's values and my own are as clear and unwavering as ever. In fact, in four years of life on social media running for office (I opened a public IG after the Floyd murder) the most controversy that ever reached me before this past week was from ‘conservative’ Muslims who saw my views as radical because I refused to accept the right wing talking points of ‘manosphere’ gender warriors. Back when it was basically only my Muslim community listening, I posted in June 2022 upon the repeal of Roe v. Wade that the repeal of this precedent was extremely dangerous to the health of all women and the religious freedom of all Muslims, and indeed to the freedom of all Americans to not have their shared secular legal framework determined by Christian evangelical extremists. In June 2022 I posted the following: “Make no mistake about it; the new abortion restrictions enacted in many US states directly infringe upon the religious freedom of Muslims to live by our understandings of religious law. In every Sunni and Shi'a school, abortion is permitted AT ANY TIME before birth to save the life of the mother. PERIOD. There is no bizarre, misogynistic suggestion that unborn embryos, fetuses, or even fully grown children inside the womb have the same 'right to life' as the grown woman who is sustaining that life.” I also thought it was important to demonstrate that traditional Islam did NOT have the restrictive conception of abortion that has animated the culture wars of 21st century America. I have always affirmed and defended a woman’s right to choose. In August 2023 I also drew controversy among Muslims when, in the aftermath of yet another murder of a black trans woman, I posted a warning to Muslims that contributing to hate filled rhetoric against communities leads to direct harm, often bloodshed, and that this violates the basic ethics of our faith. I do not - in point of fact oppose inclusion of trans people in sports- the question I thought I was responding to was about elite athletic competition, and I was essentially endorsing the IOC position that “every person has the right to practice sport without discrimination and in a way that protects their health, safety, and dignity. At the same time, the credibility of competitive sport - and particularly high-level organized sporting competitions- relies on a level playing field, where no athlete has an unfair and disproportionate advantage over the rest.” I also want to signal here that I was asked a question about my personal opinion rather than a party platform, and I think it is important to underline that not all voters that support a political party, not members, nor even leaders ought to be required to agree on its every platform or policy. This is thought policing and indoctrination, not political freedom. But while well intended people may disagree on policies and platforms, we should be united in our values- of inclusion and justice in particular. One thing that has always made the Green Party values appealing to me is our refusal to engage in the culture wars that have been utilized to divide people though fear and hatred of ‘the other.’ For me the Green Party’s democratic principles mean that we defend everyone’s right to believe or disbelieve as they choose, and to live and love according to their own code that they affirmatively choose for their lives. This freedom of choice resonates deeply with me. In my Friday Sermon this week I spoke of the gift of Divinely ordained free will, and how it models that love is incompatible with compulsion. In the faith that I chose, we believe that there were 124000 Prophets sent to every branch of the human family with lessons in their vernacular languages and cultures. I believe that the greatest expressions of Divine Love are found in our diversity and our freedom to choose. I know it is incredibly easy to target a straight black Muslim man with accusations of misogyny or transphobia. We can have that conversation another day…but to be clear. I am innocent of these charges, whatever twitter warriors with editing software may have led you to believe. Whatever you believe, I believe in the sacred dignity of every single human being. More than anything I regret that my poor choice of words (though distorted and decontextualized to the point of caricature) brought needless harm to people who have been harmed and oppressed enough. I affirm formally that I will always defend any community that is being oppressed on the basis of its identity, whether I am in office or not. Thank you for the chance to clarify this, and to reaffirm my dedication to the Green Party’s commitment to justice, inclusion, and liberation for all. We have an important election ahead, and I hope to focus on moving our message forward for everyone. After the election, I will follow up with a more detailed response to ensure that my stance and values are as transparent as they should be. This comes from his Twitter. Idk how to feel about it.
Mer 61,208 Posted Saturday at 04:58 PM I literally do not take the Green Party seriously enough to read more than two words of all that… Anyways, this morning: - SilverBulletin forecasts a 50/50 chance for the outcome - 538 forecasts a 50/50 chance for the outcome - PredictIt slightly has better odds for Harris. We really aren’t gonna know until all the votes are counted. If Indiana or Virginia are too close to call for too long on election night, it’s over. Indiana too close to call until early morning of the 6th = Harris; Virginia too close to call until after 9pm ET = Trump 5 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹

It’s a state (and maybe even district) level decision, and would lead to Democratic states adopting it and Republican ones not. 2 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹

I understand her reasoning for not dropping out - if she gets at least 5% of the vote: she gets nationwide ballot access for the GP, federal election funding for the GP, and I think she'd get the GP access to the next election cycle's debate. I want her to be able to get that 5% AND for Trump to lose. If enough people vote, it's possible for both to happen. But...idk the level of reality of that.
