But after getting with Jeremy in May (wasn’t she possibly with Jack D before that?), falling in love, and deciding to get married, her life took a sudden turn. Now, she’s inspired to write about this new chapter? I mean, she moved to a completely different state and environment—it makes sense that she’d want her art to reflect this new life. Releasing songs from 5+ years ago might feel out of place with where she is now. Which is fine, I just wish she'd communicate that I'd rather wait another year than get an album full of stupid for being happy, hey blue baby, prettiest girl in country music, country roads, etc etc which sounds like a nightmare to me, personally But did she move permanently to Louisiana? It seems doubtful she would make so complete and drastic a move. My money is on her maintaining at least one Los Angeles home and moving between them.

As I see it, she'll probably take breaks from him, leaving him in Louisiana while she returns for periods of some duration to Los Angeles--she very likely has to return to LA for all sorts of things like fittings--I can't see every costume designer/maker flying to Louisiana to accommodate her or her expecting them to. And so see friends, to gain inspiration, be around more sophisticated people, and to get away from the more stultifying aspects of Louisiana, depending on where exactly they're living and the time of the year. There's a strange vibe in that part of the Deep South that has purely to do with nature--swamps full of high humidity, blazing heat, stagnant water, alligators, mosquitos, and Spanish moss are wonderful to visit and experience, but don't suit, I believe, the 'average person.' I think most people would find them oppressive to live in full-time. I grew up in Nashville and South Florida, and I couldn't wait to get away from the extreme humidity of the Miami warmer months, though the heat, in and of itself, I liked. 6 minutes ago, BethDufreneOnTheBayouByYou said: I don't think she lives in Louisiana full time but seems like she is spending tons of time there. Better Louisiana than Oklahoma.

I hope there's some Louisiana-inspired imagery and lyricism on TRPWS. It's such a Lana thing to do: going all the way from the glamour of LA, New York and Florida of her first records, and then more and more across America, the Midwest, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, and then the Deep South. Surely when she said "southern gothic" that is what she meant? Like one critic said, LDR does for Americana with music what Joan Didion did with her essays, and it's so true. And if you don't know who Joan Didion is, you should read her now. Start with On Self-Respect from the pages of Vogue.

I don't personally really like the orchestra style of Drew Erickson, I feel like his strings are too muted or lowkey (which is my only problem about songs like Ocean Blvd - even though I still love it). I need to have a dramatic orchestra, like film score-type strings. Dan Heath and Patrick Warren executed that perfectly. Heath's alternate versions of Young & Beautiful, West Coast and Ultraviolence demo/Melancholia are heavenly. Hear me out. I think the best example of what I want for TRPWS to be is "Where The Boys Are" - Connie Francis (Tradicional Pop) "End Of The World" - Skeeter Davis and "Lonesome Town" - Ricky Nelson (Both Country Pop), but still mixing the classic country sound, like "Harvest Moon" - Neil Young (Folk Rock, Country Rock) but also, just like she did with LFL (including trap/hip hop/rap) she could include soul/funk, other example is "Oh My Angel" - Bertha Tillman (Funk/Soul, Pop) Personally, I would say that Drew Erickson's production style would suit these styles of music much better... soul, country rock, country pop, etc. So I think this would be the perfect time for him. I love his work on IYLDWM and Buddy Rendezvous & watercolor eyes, he would be GREAT for some folk-ish album (hopefully trpws case) TRPWS: - Americana - Country Pop - Country Rock - Traditional Pop - Folk, Folk Rock - Funk/Soul - Jazz
