I get the feeling TRPWS is going to be in the same vein, honestly, and I'm okay with that (pls keep Tough AWAY). Honestly, I've been pretty shocked at how much dust Lana pays the Chemtrails album considering it seems to be the most fitting to where she is in her life currently (LMLYLAW, Wild at Heart, NAWWAL, etc). 

 

Long story short, I think Chemtrails was marred by the COVID era and the turbulence Lana was feeling in her life at the time. Question for the Culture and the vitriol she was met with couldn't actually be further from the sound and vibe of the album we received.

I'm glad someone considered this. Chemtrails is simple, short, but it works and is very round. I find it very interesting. It has this COVID-era seclusion feel, like if you were taking refuge on a ranch, you put it on at night and listen to it while you watch a fireplace crackle. Lana had been flirting with country for a while now, but she didn't feel ready to embrace the genre once and for all and sound like a caricature.

 

So, I like Chemtrails, because, even though it is predominantly folk, it has this nod to the country in a safe way, without forcing it to make Lana have an identity that is not hers. So I was excited about Lasso because it felt like an extension of Chemtrails. Now, I don't know what he's really going to be. I only know one thing: saying that it will be bad because it resembles Chemtrails is untrue.

Exactly! I loved how you put everything i think into words.

The hate train that lana was going through really contrasted with the peaceful songs on the album and i think that it’s kinda sad most of the fandom didn’t get the vibes from it

 

Personally I wouldn’t mind if TRPWS followed the same sound direction

The problem I have with both BB and COcC is that there are many, many songs I absolutely love… and others I don’t care that much about. And it has to do with the minimal production: on her earlier albums, of course there were songs I wasn’t connecting to lyrically, but the production and melodies made me love them. If you go acoustic guitar and piano ballads, if you don’t connect to the lyrics, well there’s nothing else to “fall back on” in a sense.

I love Chemtrails. It got me through some really tough shit. 

 

I remember living in a hotel at the time (had broken with my bf of 5 years), and the album dropped, and I was listening to it in bed and White Dress literally brought tears to my eyes. 

 

Is it her best album? No. Is it her shortest? Yet. Is it the most cohesive? Kinda!

 

This is a quiet record, but the production is on-point, and all the songs go well together thematically and sonically. Also, Chemtrails (the single) is one of her best this decade, and Wild at Heart is MEGA UNDERRATED. My only issue is that it feels incomplete (For Free and Breaking Up Slowly are clearly filler tracks, and the album needed a few more great songs).

i really really want more than 1 music video i’d love at least 3 and hoping for more but i want good quality budget videos maybe not all of them but at least 2

but gathering from what we’re assuming this album to be i doubt any songs would fit that

but then again cotcc is one of lanas best music videos and the song doesn't sound like it would get that treatment

so my fingers are crossed

this is my problem too i find chemtrails could of been so much more but so many tracks feel unfinished and just like NFR outtakes i definitely think if she leaned more into the tulsa sound it would of elevated the album more

100%, Lana was not very popular during that time with all the controversies she was getting herself in to.. but chemtrails is a beautifully executed record.. and it ranks so highly for me, but I prefer to listen to records front to back as opposed to having favourite tracks I pick out 

 

which is why my two favourite songs come from bb and lfl, but those records rank lower for me.. as there are some songs on those records which are indefinite skips.. (I’m talking to you VFR and LFL.. sorry)
