I hope it comes back, I'm already missing the americans. I can still see old videos and all of my saved posts from the american creators, but it'll be really sad when the comments are super old and there are no new posts from them. I need my brainrot lol

i understand a lot of them though because tiktok for larger creators is also a job, and it's just been abruptly taken away from them. small businesses are in the same boat, because i feel like the past few years small businesses in general have gained so much popularity and appreciation for their work via tiktok. those two type of creators are probably the ones this ban is affecting the most. i can't say i feel as bad for the simple influencers because the job was always temporary anyways, but im just imagining all the small businesses thatll have to stop work entirely, which for a lot of them is their passion and art, too.

 

tiktok has definitely been more impactful than people give it credit for. past all the brainrot, it's given so many different people platforms to speak or to earn money from as a job. and this ban also affects everyone in every country too, especially since america's one of the countries with the most users worldwide. business is gonna be a lot slower for small businesses outside of the US now. everyone's gonna struggle

I don’t like TikTok with a passion and how it’s been “contaminating” every social media platform because they wanted to emulate it in some way. But is banning that platform going to change anything? Social media needs to be better regulated when it comes to the data sharing / amassing and how addictive they can become. But I see this ban as the hydra from the Greek mythology: cut one head and three will grow back. There’ll surely be a new platform that will land this week and that’ll take its place in the next month or one already existing who’ll become number 1 by doing something similar.

The problem isn’t even TikTok, it’s all these politicians who have used the app for 3+ years to campaign, now claiming it’s a security risk. If it was the security risk they were claiming none of the politicians would have been on it constantly posting. The problem is that this is all for show so Trump can come in and “”” save “””” it.

the thing is, the audience on tik tok will migrate someplace else and still support the creators. i don’t think it’s necessary for people to scream and cry and shit their pants about tik tok getting banned when they can literally just go to another social media app and make the same content. also i’m sure there will be another tik tok soon enough, most people have already gone to rednote, the chinese version of tik tok. people will be fine rlly, there’s no need for this kind of uproar

Yep!! Which is even more obvious after the Biden administration publicly said that they weren’t going to come after TikTok and they could stay running until the transition of power. 
 

i think the implications of every single social media app being ran by pro Trump CEO’s hasn’t fully sank in yet. It’s about to get extremely hard to find an unbiased news source

Trump’s been given the easiest layup of all time to garner goodwill with the youth and the millions of TikTok users. No one will even remember (or give a shit) that he’s the one who signed the executive order to ban TikTok a few years ago. I don’t see him passing up this opportunity for himself.

Zuckerberg got what he wanted. He lobbied to get rid of Tiktok so I'm not using IG or FB or anything until it's back. Meta sells our data and when we aren't using their platforms, they have less data to sell. So... delete their apps too. If Tiktok is gone and it's so bad, so is Meta, Google, and every other corpo that takes our data and sells it for dirt cheap. Honestly my data isn't even that interesting, idk why it's such a big deal or a security risk. The American companies that sell our data are just as big a security risk but congress doesn't wanna talk about that because they hold stock in Amazon and Meta and any others. 

 

Trump's promising he'd do a 90 day extension and that's cute and all, but it won't give him any points for me to like him. He's still a rapist, fraudster, liar, etc.
