Taylor Swift

i think it's good this album is not getting universal acclaim like midnights, although i love it i recognize it has many flaws and taylor always makes a better record when she is receives criticism (rep/lover not winning grammies > folklore/evermore, red not being cohesive > 1989)

I said a few weeks ago that we needed a break from Taylor because I feel like she is so all over the place that it gets overwhelming.... It's clearly not her fault

she and her team literally overexpose her in the media purposely how is it not her fault

I agree

You go into a grocery store, and they're playing Taylor. not one song, but a whole album. You stop at the bakery... Taylor themed cookies and cakes!

you go into a bookstore, they have a whole section of Taylor or Taylor-themed books. Same things at libraries

Coffee shops? Of course they have Taylor-themed drink menu!

You're in class/you're helping your child with homework.... the teacher worked Taylor into the exercises

you're scrolling your instagram... everything from your local park to laundry detergent makes Taylor-references

you're watching football... Taylor's there... they keep showing her over and over and over

Like.... it really is ridiculous. Imagine if you didn't like Taylor's music (which is fine) but you were constantly being bombarded with her like this. But the thing is, Taylor isn't the one doing any of this. it's her fans/businesses

I think people being tired of Taylor is definitely a part of it, but there are plenty of valid reasons to dislike the music as well. I do like a lot of the album but overall find it underwhelming. 6-7 is not unreasonable at all. 1/10 on the other hand is obviously silly.

sputnik i was ROOTING for you!!! 0.5/5 is BS, i'm sorry. i may be biased, but you can't listen to this album (or any album ever made) and give it a score like that. i'm gonna pretend the first review that was released is the real one, thank you very much :fabcat:

they give taylor and lana albums always the lowest scores

like 64 for folklore and 68 for nfr, despite they were among the best albums of 2020 and 2019

I don't get it either. The more and more I listen to it, the more I think it might become my favorite Taylor album(s)

Reading the bad reviews though, it seems like there's a very sudden and noticeable change in attitude among the public. It's like people just want to dislike it before even listening and they are subconsciously allowing their Taylor-fatigue to overrule their listening experience. A lot of the criticisms I've seen just sound so forced or trivial reasons.I have no idea. I think everyone is kinda tired of Taylor, culminating with the Grammys and Superbowl.

But what did Taylor expect after 1989TV. Maybe 1989 is cursed :lmao:

exactly. i think it doesnt help that she doesnt really act like a normal person. it’s not her fault, because she’s at a level of fame where it might be unsafe. but i think it’s hard for some people who lack empathy for her to see her come out friday night performing in a sparkling bodysuit in sold out stadiums in australia, fly to a red carpet in her private jet in california on saturday, and go to her boyfriend’s football game sunday. i think it’s extreme jealousy but also a “well she’s making money and she’s succesful so how is she complaining” kind of thing. i wish she would post on tumblr, insta, even tiktok the way she would post in 2013. something to help people connect the music to her as a person and make people realize that she is a human being.

also im sure half of these people who “hate” ttpd would have hated midnights if it was released in its place on friday, just because of their current feelings for her.

How is The Tortured Poets Department bad when 1989 TV is right there :bebe:

but fr, we need a producer for Reputation TV that isn’t Christopher Rowe and the reproduced version of New Romantics TV .

to be honest i know a lot of taylor stans irl and (while i personally liked ttpd a lot at first listen, even being canonically a taylor hater) they were all disappointed with this album...

i dont think this album sucks that much to be rated 6.0/6.6 but, at the same time, the bar is really high for her looking at her status and how's she's being portrayed as the "best pop star of all the time" right now

this and this whole overexposure, including agressive promo tactics, just asks for a disaster - which is, let's be real, not even close to a disaster, she's fine, she's just released a mediocre album, her numbers will still be huge for at least the next 5-10 years probably

My circle likes the album although they did expect a different sound. A lot of them were expecting something a bit sultrier, more pop based on the album cover I guess Dress vibes?

Nobody asked by here are some Taylor Swift hot takes regarding her music…

Hot Taylor Swift Music Takes

1. Girl At Home (Taylor's Version) is bad as it replaces the original version (you know what I mean). Now, if she released it as a remix tho it would slay… sorta.

2. While Self-Titled (Taylor's Version) will definitely improve vocally, I don’t see it improving production wise…

3. Reputation (Taylor's Version) won’t be as bad as 1989 (Taylor's Version).

4. The Tortured Poets Department > The Anthology
