Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)

Β

It seems like a lot of people didn’t like it, but I really enjoyed it. It was fun and quirky, whileΒ neither a carbon copy of the first film, nor a totally divergent flop that many sequels end up being these days.
Β

Anyway, I thought it was a good mixture of fresh takes on the original BeetlejuiceΒ character/world, while still maintaining a lot of what made the first film fun:

Use of stop actionΒ

Quirky jokes and innuendo

Not overusing the mainΒ character

Spoiler

Β

I also thought that Jenna Ortega was fantastic. She brought a fresh, younger spin to the nearly 40-year-old story.Β
Β

It’s kind of crazy, but really awesome that Michael Keaton has so much energy at his age. He really upped the fun factor here.Β
Β

I can understand some of the film’s criticism though. The plot bounced around a LOT and there were several different story lines mixed in. I know the β€œsoul train” segment got a lot of flack as well for having racist undertones.Β
Β

People saying that Beetlejuice didn’t get enough screen timeΒ do not understand what was so great about the first film. They didn’t overuse the title character. That made his appearances more impactful. I think I remember reading that a sequel would not get made, UNLESS they promised to limit the amount of time on screen for Beetlejuice.Β
Β

I do wish that Delores (Beetlejuice’s ex) had gotten more screen time. I also junk that they spent too much time focusing on the Charles Deetz (originally portrayed by disgraced pedophile actor, Jeffrey Jones) character. They should have just killed him off and moved on. Even if we don’t see Jeffrey Jones acting, they used his picture and/or likeness too much.Β

Β

In summary, I think it was a fun film. Was it a cinematic masterpiece? No. Was it quirky, nostalgic and unique? Yes, yes, yes!

Whoever didn't like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has no taste. I saw it twice. It's an instant classic.

Β

I just saw The Substance. It's really good. It thought the finale would have been better off at a Jimmy Fallon Talk Shaw or Jimmy Kimmel (a mayor talk show anyway) as it would have gotten even more tense. The New Year's event was meh and didn't really get that creativeΒ like Late Night with the Devil's third act act did. But still great. 9/10.

The LighthouseΒ and it sucked ass

Dreadful, incomprehensible film. The Witch is his best one yet.Β

Β

All others went off the rails script wise.

Β

Fingers crossed for Nosferatu.Β

Catering ChristmasΒ

Β

literally one of my favourite Christmas movies now. It’s the shittest movie I’ve seen in my life but because it’s a Christmas movie it’s unmatched. I’ve never laughed at a movie or tv show but the way it’s so bad and it’s budget couldn’t have been more than a used 2008 Honda was perfect

Society of Snow

True story about the survivors of the Andean Plane Crash in the 70s. I had never heard much about the story, so this film was just.... I can't describe it. Im still constantly thinking about it and the other details I found out in interviews.
