Lust For Life - Pre-Release Thread

Recommended Posts

Hey girls! So since the preorder and two new tracks come out next week, do y'all think those two new tracks will leak anytime this week? Asking for a friend

I don't think they will tbh

Lana, why did it go from this

Lana+Del+Rey+2016+Pre+GRAMMY+Gala+Salute

to this??  :deadbanana:

Heck, she even dressed up more for Gaga's birthday party than to her own?  :rip:

Jokes aside, I know the first picture is from the Grammys and you're naturally more dressed up for the occasion... but... still.  :crai:

I feel like 13 Beaches is one of the HM outtakes...

Lana said that she wrote the song during the summer of 2016 about her experience visiting 13 different beaches in an attempt to escape paparazzi and read a book alone. Honeymoon was released in 2015 so it can't be a Honeymoon outtake.

On a complete random note, listening to Ultraviolence always reminds me that she might never top it. BUT my expectation for this album are high, ULTRA comparison high just from the descriptions of GBA and war(not wrt the whole thing) and summer bummer, it looks like it will vary in sound and give us something new which is something that we haven't really received since ultra. and yeah I know that HONEYMOON was amazing it its own way but the orchestral vibe and lack luster trap beats didnt really do it justice, and it reminded me of a watered down paradise/btd even with stand outs like HM, SAL, GKIT.

hoping for the best lana, I always do....

Why are y'all worried about getting Honeymoon 2.0? If it was the case, I'm down for it. Honeymoon is way better than LFL already. I know I haven't listened to the majority of the tracks from LFL yet, but Honeymoon is an iconic album :flutter:

I pretend I’m not hurt and go about the world like I’m having fun

What is all this HM-outtakes-2.0-shit-talk around here?

Lana said in the new french interview that two songs of Lust For Life were written in the final stages of Honeymoon (I guess LFL and BPBP since they were written a long time ago)

Lana is featured on Cosmopolitan's snapchat story under 'The Surprising Real Names Of Your Fave Celebs'

Get that promo, Lanz! Happy to see she is seen as a 'fave celeb' by the gp again, I guess LOVE (and LFL?) have really worked in changing her reputation!

Oh for crying out loud, some people are so dumb over here... She clearly says that she's always thinking about the next thing and therefore those two tracks she wrote during the final stages of Honeymoon were never intended to be on it but the next one a.k.a. Lust for Life. Jfc

Stop calling them Honeymoon outtakes pls

@@Stargirl  response # 31884

I have been saying this scenario for a long time now, that each chapter is a concept followed by the next and the next

from accepting the boredom of everyday life in NYC in BTD but longing for something (which basically started in her pre-Lana days especially seen in any and all versions of YAYO which keeps coming back through each chapter)

to the road trip of Paradise and the arrival in the land of Gods and Monsters

to the (the Hell) and reaching the top in California

to the realization that what was sought was won, but at what price, and that it is not all it was cracked up to be

to the battle for the "soul" and the ultimate double victory, with Elizabeth coming out on top, but not "with just a wave" banishing Lana forever

to the realization in the land of Trump that money and jewels and diamonds aren't the end all, but Love is, to the symbolic rebirth in Lust for Life and the striving to make

the world (and not oneself the focus)

others seem not to get "it" nor get the real meaning of Coachella and that masterpiece of a line about "maybe my contribution"... is John Lennonesque

much in the same way the Beatles went from "silly love songs" in 1963-4-5 to the immortals they became in the psycadelic protest era in their (now shorter than Lana's

and Lana has lasted longer than David Jones aka David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and longer than acoustic Dylan (Robert Zimmerman) and longer than the hit making Simon/Garfunkel all of which were quite short periods of

the difference between Lennon's Imagine & Strawberry Fields Forever & A day in the life and McCartney's Silly love songs in growth

(and John Lennon wrote Bowie's "Fame" (and who is closer to John than his and Yoko's only son Sean)

BUT major difference- it all is Lana, and all is a continuous story or series of books.  Without one, couldn't be the next one. It's still Ms. Grant (even if there was a period

where Ms. Grant might have almost gotten vanished)- one notes in all of the song writing, it is after all Ms. Grant's name on the credits, and her name the royalty for her songs comes into.

Coachella also is in one song, all the songs of Ms. Grant if one pictures a movie

and the film noir of the 40s going into the woman with no rights in the 50s (that some thing was a great time, but to 87% of today's demographics was actually a horrible time), to the benign pre-protest early 1960s to the protest psychedelic mid 60s-early 70s

it is like a flashback

Funny thing is- I do think Honeymoon (the album) was the one for the fans (the real fans)

and Lust for Life is for the fans to grasp the meaning of, and not "for the fans" in the sense that some here think

that is my opinion

(I really should post this on a stand alone separate thread in Lana thoughts, perhaps after Lust comes out, will do so)

(provided I can remember where this is on a thread with nearly 1600 pages and a ridiculous 31000 plus responses

Lana is our modern day Edith Piaf. Totally unique. a mixture of Brian WIlson Roy Orbison, Leonard Cohen, Gram Parsons, Elton & Bernie. Born to Die/Paradise is comparable to Elton's Captain Fantastic. All the records need to be listened whole. Waiting for a box set vinyl of all 400 songs not on any lp

I don't think it's outakes too,
She just made this song during Honeymoon wasn't over (like in mixing/mastering or smtg)

She says she don't stop making music.

And I think it's BPBP & Cherry, wasn't it a fact ?!
