How can some people have such little compassion for Lana's mental health. We have NO clue what she's doing right now, but we do know that, after having her message misunderstood and used against her to suggest she's racist, she posted a long video where she seemed to really be struggling, and a heartbreaking poem about identifying with Sylvia Plath. That alone makes me give her the benefit of the doubt and know that if she could do something she would, and for all we know she is. Do NOT say that she can handle the thousands of criticisms that she would receive if she posts. You're not her, you don't have a clue what she can or can not mentally handle right now.

I also hope that those of you spending an awful lot of time on Lana Boards talking about how shitty she is, are also using your voices to raise awareness elsewhere. I hope you're not just re-posting the same thing on Instagram, but also emailing people in power, making phone calls, donating if you can afford to, etc. I understand this is a very serious and devastating topic, but let's not forget that we're all human and we owe it to one another to try and understand where people are coming from.

She totally needs to post about it but she is afraid of the backlash, and I don't think it has to do with her career at all but about her mental health. I am aware thatvmental health isn't an excuse for not addressing a crucial situation like that but who knows what does she feels like. I just hope she will make a post with her honest opinion, and whatever happens, people who want her to be racist will consider her as racist either way but at least she would do the right thing.
Also I know it's not good to judge her mental health without knowing her personally but she seemed kinda unstable in her latest post.

Let's be honest, if she speaks about Floyd it'll be a double-edged sword.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

If I were her, I'd RT something on Twitter so I could raise awareness and that way I would be talking about it while not talking about it (so the focus wouldn't be on me but on the subject)

Just Lana unintentionally offending people, then getting offended that people got offended, then getting offended that that offended people even more.

Like, it's not easy to come to a conclusion when all some people want to see is Lana as a bitter racist and all Lana wants to see is people attacking her right to sing about her life. Neither is true.

i have conflicting feelings over this.

on one hand, nowadays it's almost like, if you write a tweet or make an insta story about it, you're good. as if that requires any sort of effort or means the celeb in question is actually spending time thinking - let alone acting - on the injustice they just briefly mentioned on social media beyond the time it took them to write or RT the post. i believe that it's virtue signalling more than anything else.

on the other hand, these people have huge platforms and the very least they can do is be clear about their stance, even if it's a surface level one. so i tend to think that yeah, even though social media posts are basically meaningless, saying nothing is the worst option.

re: lana, i'm not holding my breath. she's an out-of-touch rich white woman who just dated a cop & self-professedly still believes that there's such a thing as "good cops", so. if she doesn't say anything, i'll hold it against her especially after her tone-deaf comments, but if she does i'll honestly just shrug.

I agree with your sentiment my ONLY point is that nobody on this earth has ever or could ever speak about every tragic injustice they know about... there are a LOT. So “if you don’t speak about it youre siding with the abuser” can’t be our ethical maxim.

If she does end up posting anything on the matter it will come across as absolutely fake and damage control because that’s exactly what it would be. Y’all know damn well that even if the recent controversy hadn’t happened she wouldn’t have spoken out, just like she has never spoken out on behalf of the black community before.

And what would her tweeting about it change? It's the talk of the town already, everybody knows about it.
People who want her to tweet are so dumb. Because if she posts, that is the problem because you just know there will be some nitpick about what she says. And if she doesn't post then she is a bad person. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

As I just mentioned in a user's status, I think that regardless of what she does, people will still say something negative about her. If she does speak up, they'll attack her and probably call her a hypocrite. If she doesn't, they'll still say shit.
I think it's up to Lana to really dig deep and ask herself if she really cares enough about the lives of black people and speak up and bring awareness regardless of the criticism she'll be met with. Will she? Who knows. But I hope she does.

Definitely not worth watching. I really couldn't care less what melon has to say about this.

Whilst I think it was completely stupid and unnecessary to namedrop anyone in her letter to the "culture", I kinda wish that she had namedropped Lorde and Halsey instead. This would've turned into a completely different situation.

i think lana was originally questioning the radfem movement but failed to get that across. she really shouldn't have started her post with "question for the culture"

her name-dropping artists was SO unnecessary. there's no way she read through her letter before posting and went "yup, sounds good". i get her points, but it's like it's purposefully written to be misinterpreted.
