  1. The last time I was so invested in search & rescue efforts over days was for the Thailand cave rescue 5 years ago. Sad that this one didn't end well, but the thought of retrieving their bodies after oxygen ran out after who knows how long, was such a horrible thought. I hope they didn't feel or notice a thing.
  2. The teaser looks so good I could see Blue Velvet being in this, but tbh I hope they go with actual songs from the past. I want Priscilla's story told, so she should hand pick the songs (she did say she likes Lana tho )
  3. Lana seems to be making so many streaming records and personal track/album records over the last few months, especially since SYTH. It's like everyone is diving deep into her music again (and some maybe for the first time). This is right after an album release that is half slept on. She doesn't even need to keep us hooked on every song anymore. Also, I think she reaches further and wider than Beyonce. It's a different type of fan base with significantly different demographics (that's not to say they don't overlap at all), so a straight up comparison isn't saying what's really happening. But I still think this is an amazing achievement.

Takes me straight back to Danny Elfman as Jack in TNBC and the M*rilyn M*nson and Korn covers in Nightmare Revisited album.
  5. An acoustic version of Dealer where she still yells would be so good, followed by an acoustic Heart Shaped Box cover with those same vocals
  6. Thank you! I am always so consumed by the Ultraviolence timeline, I never have the time to look into my FAVOURITE album's creation. Honeymoon just seems too untouchable to me, but I will always want to know more.
  7. I scratch my answer. THIS is the best. Her breathing at the beginning is awakening!
  8. The beginning of HBTB is everything. When is she going to use distortion like that again Also: The ending of Brooklyn Baby: "ba duh ba ba ba dee dahh" The humming at the beginning of Ride, and at the end of The Good Life. The improvised ending of Summer Wine: "ba da ba ba ba doo" or whatever. Love that sooooo much.
  9. Same! I won't actually skip anything when I'm listening to a full record because I care a lot about an albums experience- no "on shuffle", no "skips". Even if I never choose to listen to several of her songs as a one-off or add them to any playlists, I need them as part of their albums!
  10. The album is so nice my new study music. Makes me want to go swimming and walking by the shore.
  11. Ranking AS the opening track choice, not my personal faves: 1. Born To Die 2. Cruel World = Honeymoon 4. Ride 5. Normal Fucking Rockwell 6. White Dress 7. The Grants 8. Text Book 9. Love But as my faves: Cruel World > Born To Die > Honeymoon > Ride > The Grants > Text Book > White Dress > NFR > Love
  12. Hoping for something big next year for the 10th anniversary! But yeah such a shame BTD-Paradise got nothing.
  13. That's exactly what I was thinking. It's almost a summary of what @kuntsugi said lol

    Grimes

I'm pleasantly surprised by Welcome To The Opera, and I love Anyma's other work that i listened to afterwards. All give the same futuristic outerspace technology feel. Yet at the same time I heavily agree with this? I like her new direction, and I think me in 2013 just discovering Grimes would also like it a lot, but it's definitely not the same and it does give "controlled AI following an algorithm for the rest of eternity". (Exactly what she's going for tbh). I think she suits it, but she's also nothing different or unique anymore.
  15. I have this tapestry from several years ago, but honestly dont think it was bought ethically. I think the artist was uncreditted :/
  16. This is so embarrassing for you
  17. I love the releases so far, especially Setting Sail on a Distant Horizon. Not only is this my favourite kind of study music, but they go alongside some of the Ocean Blvd tracks SO well (especially Fingertips, Paris Texas and Grandfather).

    Grimes

Exactly! She did acknowledge that she's heard it too much now but I hope she doesn't just scrap it. She's already done that with one album, I think in 2014.
  19. Oh wow, I am moving for that BANKS collab. TBH, the only work I know of hers is Turn Off The Light, but that is a brilliant album, such a vibe. I'm going to listen to more of her discography before this album.
  20. Discussion on the sound effects (different to song samples) in Lana's songs. Some of my favourites are: - the fireworks in National Anthem (it makes me feel so celebratory and i picture them every time) - what are the rickety noises in the first verse of FMWUTTT? I always imagine it as a train rolling over the train tracks. - the soft ticking throughout the chorus of Heroin (different to the gun cocking). It makes me feel like time is running out. - the train whirring past in the second verse of 13 Beaches -the bird noise throughout some BTD songs (and also Gods and Monsters). What instrument is that? It sounds kind of like a flute or pipe. -The glass smashing in TNBAR. In the demo, it is a beautiful and intense addition. But there are so many more. Would appreciate help reminding me of some
  21. I couldn't take this out of the spoiler in my earlier comment, but Madly and LMLYLAW demo are twins. One is like Barries side, one is Lana's side. Two of her best unreleased songs and I truly wish they got released, but at the same time they are SO personal to their relationship I think. Not only are they such an intense look into their relationship but into the whole 2013 era, pre-ultraviolence, and in the making of that album. It hurts my heart how special these two songs are.

    Melanie Martinez

She should push Evil as a single, or even Womb tbh. I'm tired of her overusing Void.
