This is news to me that Downhill Lullaby has a new version. This makes me feel kind of annoyed, if anything, that the songs for Masochism are just in a never-ending cycle of being unfinished and changed, even after they get released. Also, what version of Guardian is the one we have so far?

I usually skip Video Games unless I'm doing an album-listen of BTD obviously it does deserve all the attention it's ever gotten, but I find nearly every other song on BTD more interesting. It just speaks volumes on how good the whole album is. And I can talk all I want about how UV and Honeymoon are my favourites, but I return to BTD whenever I want a reminder on how groundbreaking Lana's music was to me.

*sigh* this still isn't fixed and I believe there are two more technical issues now. I can't insert images to posts or mention people (it forever stays on the loading icon). But regular posting and status updates are working.

If I recall correctly, a thread was made once upon a time (2018?, 2019?) but it was deleted or closed because of awful things reposted on her tumblr blog that were brought to attention. Don't rlly want to say as I never saw proof anyway. P.s. I love her song Sour Switchblade a LOT but because of what I said above, I am genuinely not a comfortable "fan" of hers.

Thank you so much! yeah I think that makes sense that it's a newer mix but from the first version of the song. quoting Blackoutzone: "Back then the track was very bare, mostly carried by acoustic guitar loop and very subtle drum pattern." Which does sound like the released version, but I imagine with less of the backing strings, etc. Orr maybe not. It's just that the strings and other background sounds stand out to me a lot and I can't imagine them being in the earliest version and removed later for UV and Honeymoon versions.

So do I have this right (based on what Lanapedia says)? The released 2023 version is actually the original version produced by Rick in 2013 and has been untouched since 2013? All other unreleased versions we have heard were reworks after Rick's version. And even though Rick's version might have 90 mixes, they must all sound like the released version we have? Previously, I thought it was a later version of SYTH that was released. Like Lana kept wanting to perfect it over the years and finally got there more recently. But if the above is true, she eventually decided it was best as it originally was.

I love listening to this album in full, but also in order of how we heard things during the era, which was Honeymoon, High By The Beach, Terrence Loves You, MTWBT, then the rest of the album in order. The experience was so strange. I had no idea what to expect. This was when nothing in Lana's discography was "oh that sounds familiar" yet, and everything was shiny brand new.

I want to thank Jon Batiste for collaborating with Lana and not letting her be only backing vocals, but in fact making it almost her song. He is fantastic. I am loving their work together. Interesting as the last song on his album too.
