Umm, Lust For Life (song) is actually really good and doesn't deserve the hate it gets.

The Shangri-Las influences on the production is truly amazing and works well with Lana's voice and overall sonic aesthetic. Lana always dances on the periphery of pop and alternative with her songs and this song does a great job at conveying that. The combination of The Shangri-Las-inspired verses/bridge with the pop-like prechorus and chorus is iconic and really conveys here vision for who she is as an artist. Lust For Life (song) is the perfect synecdoche for Lana's work as a whole. Yeah, The Weeknd kind of ruins it but I still really appreciate the song and it has good replay value in my opinion! I just despise all of the hate it gets.

    Imma dumass.

I'm starting to watch this, and I'm thinking to myself "how can this stoopid ho be sittin' there reading a magazine backstage, while Lana's performing like 20 feet away?"

Then I realized it was one of the dancing girls, and part of the choreograph.  Duh.

I'm gonna stop everyone right there and just ask that you acknowledge Lana's slayage.

She just outsold two big-name male artists and got her second #1 while one of her opponents literally tried cheating his way to the top. How's that for shattering this increasingly male-dominated music chart scene so far this year? Lana not once mentioned wanting to go #1, fuck she didn't even tweet a link for the album download until almost a week after release, she did no promo whatsoever (per usual), had no radio support whatsoever (once again, per usual), she made no TV or radio appearances and she STILL got that #1!

The fact that Lana is selling as much in her first week as massive, mainstream, radio-supported artists like Lorde and Katy are is truly something to praise. There is obviously something special about Lana and her music. I can't name any other artist who could get away with doing the bare minimum promotion-wise and still go #1. But it's because she puts in the time in the studio and she works so hard to make music that is so signature to her. She's so consistent in sound, aesthetic, and 2-year releases. I love Lana so much and I just wish her fans and the general public would acknowledge just how well she's doing for such a low-key artist. That's how powerful her music is.

I think Elizabeth Grant is an artist, and "Lana Del Rey" is her masterpiece that actually came to life.

She made her life into a work of art.

One of her best interviews. So genuine. I like that while we're learning information about the new record, the interviewer also dips into past records. It's interesting hearing about Black Beauty and how that song can still be relevant to her current life. I also liked how they talked about the missing lyric in Ultraviolence. I had actually noticed that last year while she was doing her little festival tour, and made a post about it wondering what that was all about. It's interesting to hear now.
    (@ 1:00 & 2:10)

Also, one of my undying questions has finally been answered.. I finally know what songs Lana sang at Kimye's wedding.
& I truly hope Lana is doing alright. Her emotions were so raw in this interview. Sending her all my love and positive energy, as always. x
