Damn this album is landing like a dud. There’s nothing exciting about the era. Release a video of the 7 you got or something, sis.
 
My guess is she wants to extend the era for the tour, but yawn…long rollouts are tiring these days, especially when you have nothing outstanding to keep the fans satisfied. 
 
I say this as someone who ordered all versions of this on vinyl and will buy that empty cd box lmao. The music could be chill but do something related to the album sis.

At this point, commercial success is out of the qn.
 
She killed it by not producing CDs/no instagram/and even the 100000 interviews and appearances she seems to be doing..no tea about the album.. just that HEHEHEHEH IT IS A GOLD ALBUM, MELODRAMA WAS PURPLE. THIS IS CALM. oK
 
Critical success maybe. Critics liked both the singles iirc.

How hard is it for Lorde to send her fans an email in a predictable cadence? pls I'm parched. All I can wish for at this point is a track-by-track commentary like it was for Melodrama.
That NYT article was interesting. Just some of my thoughts...
"Even now, with the obligations piling up ahead of “Solar Power,” Lorde scheduled a weeklong beach vacation with friends, and used a scheduled interview as an occasion to multitask, walking to buy a tote bag full of nice cheese for the trip." You can do that any time in the down years... Talking about fame, ha Chemtrails era I think it's interesting Lorde tamps down at people idolizing her. I don't think she enjoys the spotlight being a "cult leader" (see Solar Power MV vibes) brings but I feel like that's what her fanbase is and that's what makes her unique? Clearly there are things worth worshipping Lorde about--such as her gift to concisely speak to emotions/experiences and Solar Power so far feels less emotionally charged which makes me worried. Oh well.  

remember how everyone was talking about what a flop the new billie record was and then it came out and they were like "oh it's actually good"...
 
obviously idk how i'll feel about the album– i think SP is good (not great) but looooved stoned at the nail salon– but it seems at LEAST as likely as not that it won't be a "flop."

People are and will always be interested in her work because her art is poignant and reflects the zeitgeist. Although Im a convicted Melodrama hater, its sarcastic - in a good way - to me the fact that the album reflected perfectly the incoming dawn of 'party people' (no matter what people tell me, i feel like we will never party in the same 'carefree'  level after this pandemic) and now we got an introspective self daring project post-quarantine
 
You can laugh at me but I venture to say that, in a couple years, her cult status will be likened to Bon Iver, Radiohead and similars. Shes impacted the alternative music scene forever and no hit can force your career into that
