Tbh we’re getting a kinda accurate representation of what it sounds like irl with Lorys singing hahaha. Couldnt hear Lana over the screaming in Dublin for some songs

Not only do the ocean Blvd songs sound the best and showcase her voice, the audience is not shrieking along at the top of their lungs so you can actually hear them!

Couldn’t believe that she cut Venice Bitch, I was in denial hahaha. In general the setlist is so odd and I don’t get why she doesn’t do an encore.

Ok maybe controversial but I’ve seen people commenting on videos like “wow the crowd was amazing” etc and I have thoughts. We literally couldn't hear her sing at all on a few of the songs because of the screaming. Like ofc sing along, I did for everything too but theres singing then theres screaming at the top of your lungs for every song. And I totally get people getting hyped and screaming the end part of A&W and like the end of Ride, stuff like that but it was endless even during like Bartender
There was a girl a row behind us who literally sounded like she was being murdered the way she was screaming, for the entire set. It was genuinely like Mia Goth in Pearl vibes. It was so bizarre that you just had to laugh.

Idk it didn't ruin the night or anything but it was overwhelmingly loud and we were near the back so dunno what it was like up the front.

I just think including bartender so early in the set list is absolutely insane it's so jarringly sparse it's like slamming on the breaks right after you speed up to 100

I do think DMD could go, purely cos you don’t hear her vocals.. so many better songs she could put in its place

i love that she incorporates her old lizzy videos into her shows…sometimes it felt like she didn’t acknowledge/was embarrassed of her some of her older shit so seeing her put it on the big screen is cute

Samee about 2013 Dublin show. I was only 15 and didn’t go cause it was over 18’s but then a user on here (who was 14) said they went on their own and they weren't checking ID’s  It wouldn't be so bad if it didn’t end up being an iconic show with the Video Games crying moment

Completely agree with it being an accessibility thing rather than disliking it. I love the album but don't listen to it as as much as the other albums because I have to look a little harder to find it. I think the majority of fans would like it if they listened to it

That's so weird to me considering she was very vocal about being unhappy all through BTD, UV and Honeymoon and only started talking about being in a better place emotionally around LFL. So are they not going to listen to anything pre LFL

I mean the fact that rerecorded Yayo fit perfectly onto Paradise shows that AKA wasn't that different to her style lyrically/thematically during the BTD era at all.

Side note does anyone else remember when she used to constantly say the words "Sonically, thematically" in interviews in like 2012 and it became a running joke

Hi everyone I haven't been on this site for about 8 years but hello just dropping in.

Alright so ten years ago, post BTD and I guess also post UV, AKA was held in very high esteem by fans and a lot of people seemed to prefer it to BTD. It was always included as an option when ranking her albums or best lead track/closer stuff like that. Whereas now I'm seeing a lot of fans, especially on Tiktok, just not counting it as an album or saying that they hate it/only listened to it once.

I have theories on why the tide has turned against it. 10 years ago streaming services were only still gaining popularity and we were either buying albums on iTunes or downloading them illegally (more likely lol) and therefore people were a lot more likely to download AKA and put it on our music apps on our phones back then. Newer fans seem to go to Youtube for Lanas unreleased material now because of this switch to streaming. That brings up two issues for AKA.. People are less likely to listen to an album at all if its only on YT as its inconvenient and secondly the quality of the uploads of the album on Youtube are pretty bad. Most of them have a pitched up version of Gramma which sounds awful and they have the demo version of For K Part 2. There's also parts of the outros clipped off so the songs end abruptly and don't flow well into one another as intended ( Its meant to be a gapless album as some songs are meant to have slight overlaps like For K Part 2 into Jump, Put Me In A Movie into Smarty) So I can understand someone listening to the versions on YT and thinking that its a badly produced messy album.
I guess some of it is just to do with the fact that she has so many albums now and this is one of her oldest and least talked about albums. I can also confess to probably only having listened to Lust for Life a handful of times because its not really my vibe but I don't talk shit about it either or pretend its not an album she released.

I hope she eventually rereleases the album in good quality without re-recording it, and gapless too please. (Side note I used to have a gapless version of AKA but Apple Music has a bug that adds gaps into gapless albums  ) Even if she just does it quietly without any physical releases, even though they would be nice. I think there would be a big shift in peoples opinion of the album if she did rerelease it

Anyway, I'm interested to hear if others have noticed this and if you have other thoughts on why this shift has happened.

Apologies if this has been brought up before, like I said haven't been on here in years.

If you like artists diverse and eclectic and with interesting evolution, AKA fits right in as a masterpiece. That is, if you like unpredictable artists, it seems a shame AKA, May Jailer, and more of her unreleased are not proper parts of her catalog. I have to conclude that tiktok people (or newer fans) just aren't as much interested in diversity and/or have narrow taste in music. I don't know what tiktok people actually find popular, as I avoid the venue, but if they like LDR that's fine, though I can't imagine they like her too broadly (e.g., as many stans for summertime sadness as heroin on tiktok?).

AKA is a no-brainer for re-release, and there could easily be a bonus disc of unreleased material that has a vibe consistent with it, although that isn't a requirement for making re-release attractive (for me). However, in a re-release, I'd still quote the original title, as the album title (as I'm anal about history being accurate), and then identify the artist as Lana Del Rey. There's also something very "next level" about an artist's debut album having an album title referencing the fact that the artist just changed names! It's like she's footstamping the idea her thoughts are so fleet, you won't keep up with her; disco-ball mind, indeed!
