    the thing she said in the les inrocks interview is whats getting me going about LDRX like we might as well get our next classic from her

    like i think Ocean Blvd ends the narratives and topics explored on Chemtrails and Blue Banisters and does it so beautifully especially with "Grandfather..."

    i could talk about how genius Ocean Blvd is for hours even when she claims she was putting it together based on vibes

    but her saying she wants to take more risks is so exciting especially her using A&W as an example... i hope she takes her time i wanna miss her for once lol

    the production on UV to this DAY clears the rest of her discography effortlessly. She would be rolling in money if she made another album w instrumentation like that

    This song is quintessential UV. It embodies everything this album IS. The rock reference, the lyrics, the production, her vocals after the second verse, the title... I honestly want nothing else than this song to leak in HQ. This could possibly become one of my fav song she ever made

    Releasing Say Yes To Heaven is just proof that if Lana wanted, she could easily be a commercial success, imagine if she dropped an unreleased album with just like 12 songs, she would probably get like a 40 million stream debut

    Hi everyone, If you guys ever have an idea, I might need some help in my thesis, I'll take everything (lyrics, life moments, interview moments, visuals, honestly anything you can think of) !!!

    In my thesis, "Commentary on fame: Poetics and politics of womanhood through Lana Del Rey's life and art," I aim to explore the complex relationship between fame, gender, and artistic expression by analyzing the music and public persona of Lana del Rey. To do so, I will draw on theoretical frameworks from feminist theory, cultural studies, and musicology.

    One of the key concepts in my analysis is power, and I will draw on feminist theories of power to explore the ways in which female artists like Lana del Rey navigate the politics of representation and the construction of celebrity identities. Specifically, I will use Michel Foucault's notion of power as productive and diffuse to argue that power operates not only through top-down coercion, but also through the production of subjectivities and identities through discourse. I will also draw on the concept of intersectionality, developed by Kimberlé Crenshaw, to argue that gender intersects with other aspects of identity, such as race and class, to shape the experiences and opportunities of female artists in the music industry.

    To support my analysis, I will use specific examples from Lana del Rey's music and public persona. For instance, I will analyze the themes of femininity, sexuality, and power in her music, drawing on specific songs like "Did You Know That There's A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd" and "Born to Die." I will also examine her controversial statements about feminism and her relationship with the media, drawing on interviews and media coverage from specific dates and sources.

    Furthermore, I will use concepts from cultural studies to explore the cultural and historical context of celebrity culture. Specifically, I will use Stuart Hall's concept of encoding/decoding to analyze how the media frames and represents female artists like Lana del Rey, and how audiences decode and interpret these representations. I will also draw on Richard Dyer's theory of the star system to analyze the ways in which celebrity culture constructs and commodifies celebrity identities.

    Overall, my thesis seeks to offer a critical analysis of the complex and often fraught world of celebrity culture, and its intersections with gender and artistic expression. By drawing on specific examples from Lana del Rey's life and art, I hope to provide a nuanced and insightful perspective on the intricate interplay between fame, gender, and artistic expression.

    I have a few lol:
    - my rosary necklace that I bought a few years ago after being scammed so many times trying to buy it
    - the LFL black zip up jacket with the embroidery (probably still my favorite piece of Lana merch)
    - the LFL white top with the rose embroidery on the sleeves (the very first piece of Lana merch I ever bought!)

    I love so many pieces from the Violet merch too, so many high quality and unique pieces from that drop

    If you're in the UK, you can check Careers at UMG regularly they have lots of Job openings, even without a diploma in a specific field. Then, as Lana said, fuck your way up to the top, worked for me  (I do not work at UMG js)

    Hi guys, so I was on TikTok and found a video of a Taylor Swift fan coming up with a ranking system to know which album you love the most and it's actually very impressive.
    SO I guess I'll share it here.

    The idea is, for each album you need to put the songs in 3 categories : skips, favorites, neutrals.

    For example :

    Born To Die (Paradise Edition) has 24 songs.

    For me, I have 5 skips so (5/24), 15 favorites (15/24) and 4 neutrals (4/24).

    You divide your number of skips by the total number of songs which equals, for me, to 20% skips
    You divide your number of favorites by the total number of songs which equals, for me, to 62% favorites

    You add the 2 numbers : 20 + 62 = 82.
    You subtract from 100 : 100 - 82 = 18
    so, 18% neutrals

    Now each pourcentage of favorites equals 1 point (so 62 for me) and each neutrals equals 0,5 points (so 9 points) =  62 + 9 = 71 points !

    Do this for each album and rank according to the number of points.

    This is my final points according to this system :

    UV = 85,5 points
    NFR = 75 points
    BTD Paradise edition = 71 points
    Honeymoon = 60,5 points
    DYKTTATUOB = 59 points
    LFL = 53 points
    BB = 43,5 points
    COTCC = 19 points

    In order to not rank twice the same song I only ranked BTD Paradise edition.

    Tell me what you think, can't wait to see yours if you do it !

    I think it does, especially that in the MV she's shown wearing pearls and diamonds necklaces, that she refers as "candy', diamonds and pearl represent the money, fame and stardom in particular during Monroe era. She doesn't care about that fame anymore it's futile to her, she's oppressed by it (White noise coming out of my brain) Just like in 13 beaches she personifies fame as a lover (Sittin' on the sofa, feelin' super suicidal Hate to say the word, but, baby, hand on the Bible I do Feel like it's you, the one who's bringing me down Thought that we were cool and we were kickin' it like Tribe Called Quest You the best, but, baby, you've been bringing me down I can see it now ) What she was once obsessed with (BTD era, hence the hairstyle reference) is now something killing her.

    Yes, it's not the only reference but a main inspiration I think, throughout the album, it's a retrospective on her carrer, this tunnel under ocean blvd. All the tracks discuss this internal dialogue. She's questioning what's important to her, should she continue down that road (fame and stardom) ? What's her legacy ? Does she need to concentrate on more important things ? (family, god)... Referencing old Hollywood stardom is not new to her but this time she's putting it into perspective (hence showing the BTS), it's not that glamorous to her anymore (that's why I'm not surprised by the MV as it pretty much reflects perfectly the themes she put out on the record.)

    A big idea around BD is that she was never left to rest in peace, because her death was extremely present in the media, making her the sad legend she is today. She was tortured and never left alone by the press which is obviously one of - if not the biggest - theme Lana explored on the record.

    So it's obvious to me, considering the context in which this video was made, the lyrics and themes of OB, that she's telling this story in particular and not any other 40s star. As I said earlier, I really love the vid, it's beautiful but (to me) expected, listening to the record, I expected Lana to approach visuals this way, the BD reference is logical (to me).

    In my soul's temperament, a rare jewel glows,
    Like the first ray of sunshine after winter's snows,
    Spinning in a world of ancient beauty and grace,
    I seek hope, like a bird searching for its place.

    My gander takes me on a journey through time,
    Like a comet soaring through a cosmic rhyme,
    And in my jalopy, I see my past's reflection,
    Like a book of memories in constant recollection.

    Nostalgia is a painting of yesterday's hues,
    A tapestry of moments woven by life's muse,
    And love is a butterfly with wings so bright,
    Fluttering to the rhythm of life's endless flight.

    So I keep spinning like a top on a string,
    A melody of emotions that only I can sing,
    For in this world of complex mysteries and lore,
    Beauty lies waiting, like a rare flower in a moor.
