At least from what I understand, the song is about living despite mortality and giving in to love's devouring powers, if that makes any sense in a non-poetic way. The way I see it, "she" is rather longing for love, as in being in a relationship, instead of already receiving it. But I agree, this song is pretty cryptical. 
 
I believe her lyric clustering is relatively evident here. I don't mean to accuse her of throwing in a couple of pointless phrases that don't mean anything but sound nice, but it might be that way. She seems to be taking a little bit from here, a little bit from there, and mixes everything into one cluster of lyrics.

There are plenty of remixes more creative than this SS one. Sometimes it's amazing how a reinterpretation can add new layers of meaning. Remixers must choose which elements to put together and decide how they will juxtapose these elements. It's not a question of whether they are artists, but whether their creation speaks to anyone, on a case-by-case basis -- artist-by-artist, work-by-work -- just as with any other form.

Barrie in streetwear is surprisingly hot!

It sounds like a Taylor Swift song. Also her voice in there is so much like the sterotypical American voice, and the melody is ugh.
Prom song (gone wrong) kind of has the same "American cliché" feeling too but it actually grew on me and I love the fact that it's about her teacher and stuff, makes the song much better tbh.
It becomes sweet and kind of dark at the same time and I understand the fact that it sounds stereotypical because she probably was very young writing it. 
This is what makes us girls is cringeworthy, too ... The rythm is good though and it's very cinematic, she manages to transform usual lives (come on, teenagers do a lot that kind of thing it's not that uncommon ) into an almost epic story.

I was at her concert in Frankfurt (Germany), and she played that song. Her voice was like it was about to break. Listening to her singing that song was stunning. I felt kind of lost in another world while she was singing. There is something I can't describe which makes me literally going insane. It is a masterpiece, definitely. And sorry for misplacing this thread. 'Newbie' haha
