The lyrics of HBTB are loose, surreal, and Lynchian? Also, we still know what a concept album is these days... (and BTD and Paradise ain't it)   Anyway, girl better have some variety in those choruses and bridges. Even in Honeymoon I found it less repetitive than almost anything on UV, almost as if she was trying.   Personally, I think it comes down to her not being a one take kind of artist. She writes a bunch, reworks a bunch, changes things up a bunch. Look at how many different versions of her unreleased (or released  ) tracks there are. She's a perfectionist and she needs that time. Which is partly why I think she abandoned UV so quick. It was personal, but it also wasn't up to her standard, critical acclaim or no.

I'm compulsively listening to it on a loop since it got leaked and I couldn't for the life of me pinpoint which other Lana song it reminded me and I realized to my stupor that it's actually Next To Me, which explain why both songs are amongst my ultimate fav Lana songs, the melody is kind of reminiscent in the verses, but like an acid-washed, high, much more softer and pastel version of Next To Me mixed with a happier, narcoswing version of Kill Kill
 
In less arrogant words I love this song to death, it slays me, it simply slays me
 
Also for some reasons it makes me think of Rob's Hawaiian shirts haha I wonder if he likes it, as it also reminds me of the tropical vibes of Florida Kilos and it's his fav

The cover art being colorful makes me feel like the era really might be trying to get closer to BTD. Honeymoon sounded more like UV material than BTD material, but maybe the rest of the album will be different.

And I'm not sure how I feel about the look. It's cute in some pictures, but tragic in others. I miss the days of Lana being a style icon with great hair.

Okay so let me tell you about this extremely vivid dream I had a few days ago. I wrote everything i remembered down when I woke up
 
the chorus of the single started with "don't act like i'm not crazy"
second verse had a line about "saving hits" and it sounded very mardi gras esque like fiesta-y
 
and the video was of a small round swimming pool in the middle of a park and lana was walking along the walls underwater in red heels
 
no news so I resorted to dreaming my own lmao

The more I listen to it, the more I think it would be greatly improved with a bassline.  (Though not in some techno/EDM way.)  The instrumental just feels incomplete, even if the strings are great.

What really sticks out to me is the strings. They have this kind of Lee Hazelwood vibe about them. The song is very simple, feathery and light. She sounds younger, too. At this point in her career, I don't expect anything new or experimental from her. She's in a very comfortable place. As much as I would love for her to take a risk with it, I know that the chances of it happening are slim. One thing I've always liked about her, especially her voice in this song, was how unintentional creepy she is. The video snippets reminded me of those homemade videos of women who go missing (also pretty interesting when you think about the Honeymoon theme) which kind of gives off the whole trouble in paradise kind of feel. My favorite moment in the song is when she croons out "cruise" and the background vocals come swooning in, and the whole "dreaming away your life" in the end.

'Muddy trap enegry' is probably one of those Lana descriptions that make no sense until you hear the music

This is going to sound horrible live. Imagine those annoying fans SHOUTING the lyrics to this sleepy, almost instrument-less song.

I haven't got the very slightest idea of what muddy trap energy is but I have a feeling that I'm SO, HERE, FOR THIS. Upbeat Lana is my fav Lana and I sense something kind of raw and powerful I'm so excited I'm a mess

Its really dreamy and beautiful, i like it, makes me feel like taking Xanax while in a wedding dress.

Well, idk. I think I need to listen to this in the context of the album. This sounds like some kind of soundtrack music than a casual new music from what we usually hear.

i like it better than WC's debut, but her lyrics are so repetitive. the lyrics are meh but the actual music, including the guitar and strings are just absoutely sublime. hopefully more songs like this, instrument and percussion wise would be heavenly. 
 
but seriously, the lyrics minus the bridge just seems like she picked words that rhymed. but definitely looking forward to this record more than I did UV, sounds so much more mature and serious and sexy tbh
 

I hope lana uses these type of squeaky violins throughout the album
