Sweethearts

This album isn’t even out yet but it’s too sad to listen to for me. Arcadia, text book, wildfire, and blue banisters are too hard to listen to now. I miss her.  I can’t imagine listening to this album when it comes out  and she’s “gone.” I don’t know how to deal with this. 10 years of releases and this one feels so different. It feels like the end of an era but idk why bc she’s still putting stuff out. Sorry I’m just projecting my sadness and anxiety about this. I’m really flustered.

I was just thinking… how shocking it will be to listen to this album now that she is “gone”?
 
Try to imagine it. 
October, 21.
 It’s night.
Lana is missing from socials and lacks any other form of communication. We haven’t heard from her in a while. And we don’t know anything about her. 
There was just another single - hopefully Thunder or BBS - between the day she said goodbye to socials and now. 
We are so close to midnight.
(Not) ready to fully experience 1 hour of 15 beautiful Lana’s songs. 

And then it comes. Midnight. Spotify/Apple Music libraries add Blue Banisters to their catalogues.
And you click play. 
The initial deaf sound of Text Book starts to roar in your ears.
And that’s it, the begging of the end. 

You are alone in your room, it’s cold, everyone else is sleeping, it’s windy and perhaps it will also start raining. But nonetheless there’s only you. And Lana’s voice all around you and in your heart. 
 
Okay.
I can’t guys.
There’s something incredible special about this release. I can feel it. Generally Lana’s release days (nights) are the happiest and intense moments of my life. But this one… wow. I really don’t know how to cope with it.

Idk why this has me so shaken up, way more than it should be, but it’s totally hindered my ability to focus on anything else at the moment including important work I should be doing lol. I think I’ve just received so much unsettling news this week that I don’t know to process unexpected news anymore  Although I’m admittedly very upset about this as I always love interacting with her through Instagram especially when she’d notice my lil comments or what not, her happiness and well-being will always come first, and she seems to be doing this in dedication to those two things. I have been very sporadic myself on Instagram for the past two years, and truthfully one of the only reasons I’d ever open the app lately is when I’d get a notification she posted! It’ll be weird and empty without her there but I do understand her decision, even if it’s sad news on my end. I just hope she returns one day if she ever feels up to it - I’ll miss her! x

I think she knows what she’s doing. Dropping off the socials will create even more interest and make her even more mysterious again. It’ll probably be better for her mental health, too. I just hope she doubles down on her art, and uses the time away to have even more wild life experiences that turn into material for future magnum opuses! We’re so spoiled, and we know she’s dedicated to her art, so it’s sad yet exciting, in the best possible way. As long as she’s okay. 
 
And we get our second album of the year in a month. Who cares about promotion. Let’s celebrate the music!

Does anyone else think the song Chemtrails is a top 5 in her discography? It’s so stunning.
 
Like even just the first 3 seconds of the song set such a warm and nostalgic tone. The song is a hug, a warm blanket.

The album seems to reflect her last 10 years on the industry. She put songs that are very important in her journey. Some of them are unleseads... but every unreleseads mean something and talks about a certain moment. she is not lazy. 

violets for roses is about a toxic relationship and heal... Also the heal theme is recurrent on the album. This album is big. alot of you gonna put this on the top of her discography

I like it in the sense that it starts the album with a "faster" pace (at least in the chorus/post) and then the songs get calmer and calmer until suddenly changing with the interlude.
Then I hope The Trio opens a new and more lively direction in the middle part of the album that peaks with Thunder and then decreases again with the last 5 tracks of the record. You know like a rollercoaster (or the Sierra Madre )

I actually think it's sort of funny how this whole thing played out because I organise my unreleased collection into multiple albums structured sonically, and on one of my unreleased albums I have a track run that goes Wild One, Nectar of the Gods, Cherry Blossom, Living Legend, Fine China. Imagine if this actually had ended up happening for Blue Banisters! My tracklist got pretty close though as Blue Banisters has a run of Nectar of the Gods, Living Legend, and Cherry Blossom, and I know at least Fine China was considered (don't remember about Wild One.) So, I predicted this pretty closely ages ago! Totally taking partial creds x

Gosh it sucks to come here and hear personal opinions about songs that haven't been released yet by people who claim to have heard them. We get it, you're better than us but good fucking lord

and I think it's interesting how the one song where we get insight into her relationship with her mother, Wildflower Wildfire, is in the same section of the record as Cherry Blossom, a very maternal and nurturing song, and Living Legend.This is going to be the deepest look into Lana as a person and what has made her the person she is today. 
 
You can't blacken the pages (her history) with Russian poetry and be happy....
