Too Much Is Never Enough is classic florence. Pretty sure this is gonna be a fav for many. It's so damn beautiful,lush and grand.
Stand By Me instrumental at the beginning starts of ethereal and gradually builds during the track up to an intense finally. Take note Lana this is how you should cover a song. Its faithful but with a unique twist.
I Will Be is the standout track from the EP. The instrumental is so pretty and heavenly, She really stands out vocally  here too.
 
I'm pretty sure if you've missed the old FTM from Lungs and Ceremonials you're going to adore this EP.

Ok so here's how it went for me - I'm still shaken asf I have no idea what even happened and I think I caught a planet sized cold - I ran my literal ass off to the tube (I'm so fucking glad I haven't been slacking on cardio cause holy shit I probably outran Usain Bolt), went there and there was nobody in the area so I got scared, then I saw tons of people waiting including paps and basically after that I waited like 2h, I saw Stella Mac Cartney, a LOT of ULTRA HOT people, Lucky Blue Smith who is like, 3m tall?, Charli XCX who left like a thief, some other famous people I don't know the name of, and most importantly I fucking saw Lana, when she got out it was ABSOLUTE CHAOS, literal ultraviolence, I ALMOST didn't met her but an old lady w white hair grabbed the fuck out of me and slammed me on the barricade and Lana saw my sweater and did an adorable dork face for 0.3s and then took pics with me and I look gross but whatever I'm so motherfucking happy. Didn't got UV vinyl signed but to this point I don't even give a fuck I mean??????????????? Seriously this morning I almost didn't got out of bed because I was depressed out of my balls and tonight I got pics with her? This is the best year ever for me and I'm literally leaking gratitude. Also she looked taller than the other time and so beautiful and Johnny and Ben were here and I SWEAR TO GOD when they got into the car I was the one Johnny was waving at laughing, I think it's because of my sweater, and Lana was waving too so bye I'm going to die, still considering going to the Brits tomorrow but I'm emotionally drained and most probably sick I'm so fucking happy

All of her records have great lyrics, side by side with average lyrics, side by side with lyrics that make me go 'wtf?', but I don't care that much about lyrics if they're not that good - I take lyrics that move me as a bonus (and on Honeymoon I'd include the title track, TLY, Salvatore and TBD as among her best).
 
Musically, she's gotten better over time, although the high points on BTD are still the most exciting things that she's created for my personal tastes.
 
I don't care that much about music videos, but each 'era' has its own aesthetic, and it feels like it's only on this board that every latest thing gets trashed - in the broader world, people either hate her, or love whatever she does, or move on from her (here is the only place that people love her and hate everything she does at the same time).
 
I don't care about what she wears when she buys coffee, so maybe I'm missing out on a big element of her supposed 'decline', but overall, 2014-now have always been fascinating times for me to be a fan.

i think she's gotten better musically over time for me personally. i find her to be a far more interesting artist now then when she first came out, even though i loved her when she first came out too.
 
i just think people are expecting btd quality eras, and that was very much a one off thing for her, but fans cant let go and they get frustrated. its cute people care so much, but i've come to terms with just rolling with the punches when it comes to her nowdays, as long as the albums are great i'm happy............everything else is fun, but i can take it or leave it since it comes second to the music, and i still love the music.
 
chart and sales wise, she was always going to decline, she was always a niche artist who got a lucky break with btd and she was never going to be able to maintain that sort of success over and over. shes just not that type of artist and her music doesnt have that sort of pull.

Artistically, I don't think she's declining. She's exploring different sounds with each album, so it might be hard to take if you're super attached to a sound from one specific era of hers. You have BTD stans who keep waiting for her to return to that style of music, UV stans who wanted her to continue that way, meanwhile Lana just wants to make songs with whatever sound she finds interesting at the time.
 
There's no denying that budget-wise things aren't as great as they were in the BTD days when she was putting out masterpieces like the Ride video. But I think this is a result of a business situation rather than because Lana is starting to suck.

Freak, wherein we learn:
 
Interscope probably only budgeted for 2 videos, and the third is yet another personal vblog of LDR-style ambiguity that will never be broadcast outside of Youtube (because of obvious drug references). FJM probably participated as a friend, and it seems he is a little drug sympathetic too (or at least admits to dropping acid recreationally at Taylor Swift concerts).
 
As for LDR's relation to FJM in the video, there are lots of things uncertain for me. I don't know if she's real to FJM or whether FJM imagines her; it's interesting that he can only dance with her after he takes the acid (and it's interesting that only LDR can give him the acid, and she takes none?). If she is real, then one can speculate on whether she is trying to kill FJM (giving him acid in an initially high place--as with her left-hand tattoo, which gets airplay), or whether she is abstaining from the acid and other drugs (flash to koolaid dripping down her chin, and maybe it's just koolaid) in order to be a "designated" acid tour guide.
 
As for the beautiful dancing underwater girls, my only criticism here, is that, as perfect as Debussy's Clair de Lune is for background music, it's such an easy solution for background music, that I wouldn't have minded her trying to compose something herself for that (or maybe hiding another video within Freak, e.g., Life is Beautiful might have been an ironic twist). It would have made the video more personal and informative, imo. But I still like the Freak video as non-redundant with her other work (even given the visual overlap with MTWBT). Now I wonder if she'll ever release the video for Honeymoon she's mentioned.
 
Finally, I dislike the heaven interpretation for the "floating girls" segment, because people like Mark Dice have already condemned the Freak video on youtube, saying in effect it promotes satanism (aka suicide) and cultism as false paths to heaven. I do think people are "garden pathed" into thinking about Jonestown and Manson, but I don't see any strong suggestion on the part of either FJM or LDR about suicide, satanism, or cults being desireable. I haven't taken (or recommend) drugs, but I'm knowledgeable enough to understand people don't take drugs to go to heaven but to attempt heaven-like experiences on earth. So maybe the POV of the video is that, in this particular case, Father John Misty got lucky with respect to his trip and had a nice time, which is the most straightforward interpretation of the floating girls I can think of (and if you watch till the end, you see FJM get inserted into their slo-mo frolics).

i really love the line "talk til we both turn blue" cuz shes like saying, talk until we're tired/tired of talking and talk until we're both sad about it? its like literally the only time i like her saying blue on honeymoon


i am 200 percent happy we got this footage. i enjoyed it with freak. kinda made it a bit darker for me? like before i saw it as like come to cali and party with me but this video is like come die with me? probs my fav lana video. 

While I think working with different producers is a good thing, I feel exactly the opposite way about Rick Nowels' production of Lana tracks. It's only gotten better over time. He produced the cheesiest, sappiest tracks on BTD, but he produced the entirety of HM, which is her best major label album IMO. There's not a song on it I don't like (well, ok, I'm not crazy about her DLMBM cover). 

Has anyone counted the days between her past pronouncements of "soon" and the date she delivered? By Lana standards, I don't think it's been that long yet.
