Loona, stylized as LOOΠΔ, is an upcoming South Korean girl group. Starting in October 2016 Loona has debuted a new girl each month, and she would have a single, a music video, and a b-side usually featuring another girl. There are three sub units (mini groups) that every 3 or 4 girls are involved in. The sub units and solo singles were all to build up hype for the final debut of the full 12 member girl group, which finally debuted in August 2018. All of the girls/ subunits and all of their music videos are all connected so theories & conspiracies are very popular amongst their fans, there’s a whole concept of this mirror world or the “loonaverse” and many of the videos represent the girls somehow making their way into this other world joining the other girls. Different girls make small cameos in each solo video there’s a lot of easter eggs in the videos that connect them, this is why they have a growing fan base on social media because its exciting to come up with theories and follow the concept. Their latest music video for their lead single, Hi High, which is there official debut as a 12 member group, shows all of the girls from the sub unit coming together as a whole group.

  This is the 3rd and final subunit, YYXY (youth, youth by young) the concept of this group is all the girls that were kicked out of the garden of eden. Their sound is more in the style of Odd Eye Circle, all bops!   The group has finally debuted with an ep titled [++]. The EP features 5 high energy electro pop songs and an interlude that combines all of the interludes from the sub unit albums! You read my mind. I always wanted this and this the first time I heard BTD. imagine Lana taking back the flights of Beth that just wouldn't be real. Make her hear that  message and same for trip-hop, best genre musical.

It's definitely interesting hearing where she's coming from and the complex way she perceives things as an artist, especially during this current phase of not being able to reconcile with past criticism of her authenticity and bad experiences with journalists. It actually made a lot of sense when she said it didn't surprise her that critics loved NFR because there "wasn't anything not to like", which is kind of true. That tells me that she knew some of her earlier albums and the way she portrayed of herself would turn some people off as opposed to NFR which was a phenomenal but also very accessible version of Lana Del Rey. Maybe it bothers her that she can receive acclaim so easily by shying away from telling parts of her story that exist in more of a moral grey area like songs about an abusive relationship. I don't think she would have lashed out at Ann Powers (the only serious critic who had some genuine criticism of the album) or posted QFTC if she had come to some sort of resolution over that. I know a few people personally who have a hard time accepting success or approval once they get it because they still haven't reconciled with how isolated they felt before when they weren't being approved. Kind of a "you like me at my most palatable but can't handle the real me" mindset. It seems Lana is still searching for the balance in that.

It's sad that so many of you all would rather she shut up and regurgitate acceptable statements because god forbid she may say something ~controversial~ (real) and your friends will be mad at you for supporting her I'm actually here for anything different she has to say, but I suspect it's just going to be her complaining about not being universally acclaimed right away, which is much less interesting. She's super successful and finally got her acclaim with the last album so what is she so mad about? That was my main complaint with the "question for the culture" shit--bringing up ancient issues, for what??? Things have changed.

I’ve been digesting all the controversy surrounding Lana the last couple days. But I will say this. The one thing that shocked me the most with Lana ‘s arguments is that she implied that « inclusivity » is not an issue she needs to work on. That is a very tone deaf thing to say, especially in 2021 when conversations on racial equality are finally wide open on the table. I think that just tells us everything we need to know about her ignorance.
When it comes to her defending her upbringing, I don’t mind her defending a possibly difficult childhood. I mean I don’t know her personally so I can’t comment on that. But that’s beside the point and doesn’t cancel the comments she made on her Instagram. 
 Also I’ve noticed her « I have black friends » comment on Instagram has now been deleted. I wonder if she realised it was terribly worded out of her team did and asked her to remove it?
Luckily the album doesn’t come out till mid March so I’m just hoping she’ll learn during that time and come forward with a statement clarifying her intentions whilst also acknowledging she fucked up and was insensitive.

it honestly wasn't too bad and clarified some of her points... she's trying to make her intentions very clear, and i'd say that was a pretty (some issues but net effect was not bad) good and straightforward way (better than the BBC interview or any random offhand tweet) of expressing those intentions to a wider audience

lana i feel is like me ... i can tell she def has a ton of thoughts running around in her head and its difficult when you have a lot to say to make it come out as the right thing and not word vomit. so i understood that , especially since she wants to be conscious of the past (qtfc) and being truthful about what is wrong with america psychologically i guess.  so, yeah, if i was her i would be hellllla frustrated with "magazines" like the consequence of sound purposefully taking a few words out of a 40 minute interview for a clickbaity headline they know is capitalizing off of past controversy--yet thats how media is nowadays, journalistic integrity is sidelined on the pop culture stage because they want clicks first before honest reporting.
