To be fair Halsey has always been criticized for her poor writing skills, but it’s more noticeable now because of the themes IMO. Badland’s “bad” lyricism went well with the immature/childish/tumblr tone of the album so it was less noticeable. Now she’s talking about being on her deathbed and it’s just harder to gloss over imo

I was very obviously referring to the criticism Lana received from her songwriting not giving my opinion on it. I don’t think Lasso would send a bad message the same way I don’t think UV sent a bad message

dont wanna sound harsh but i kind of understand what fantano and pitchfork meant when they said she has main character syndrome. the lyrics are genuinely awful and there's nothing artistic about them at all. i feel bad saying it cause i know she went through HELL and suffered a ton but the writing is terrible

Country music is not inherently racist, in fact the origins of country are to be found in black culture. And she just released a country song featuring a black artist. Of all people, Lana is the one who could pull off a good country album
