  1. Receipts for her "also doing other performances as Lizzy Grant at the same time"? Because Ray/Rey spelling changes aside, everything I've seen indicates she changed her stage name to Lana Del Ray/Rey in the summer of 2009 and never looked back. (The one exception being the Loser's Lounge tribute to Karen Carpenter, but it kind of makes sense people would be credited for that show with their actual names.)
  2. something something #oldmanrant about in my day we had pogs something something #dirtyoldmanrant now I'm more into PAWGs
  3. It's like heaven taking the place of something evil
  4. Hey Rick, when will you top leaving the 2013 Nowels leaks exposed?
  5. None of these questions belong in this thread. From the OP: @, your question is probably more appropriate for the Help & Support section. For the rest of you, the Random Conversation Thread or elsewhere in the Conversation Area section is the appropriate place for you to get dragged.
  6. No. I think you have the wrong thread. Honestly it's shameful that this sentence doesn't stop after the first six words and that it wouldn't be true if it did. I mean, in a sense you can say Rick Nowels leaked them by leaving them in a public directory on his website. But on purpose? As probably the first person to notice they were there, I find that notion ridiculous.
  7. You've been repeatedly warned about "joking" that people should kill themselves. I told you if you continued to do it I would kill your account. I don't think that's something that should be joked about either. Goodbye.
  8. At least in terms of thinking about any kind of unified K theory about a potentially real person, I think most people (myself included) read "Blue Jeans" along with "For K" (in part because the "drive-by, Sunday night" line could fit with "he headed out on Sunday, said he'd come home on Monday, I stayed up waiting"). His crimes were committed on Monday, not Sunday, and do not sound like a drive-by situation. He was a wannabe rapper going by the name Rated R. I don't see where the name K comes from. And describing him as "sorta punk rock", in contrast to her who "grew up on hip-hop" doesn't fit. Then there's the larger timeline. His original trial began November 27, 2006 and he wasn't convicted until December 20, 2006. He was sentenced to death on January 30, 2007. There were subsequent appeals and resentencings. In contrast, the chronology in "For K" suggests his original sentence was 30 years, not the death penalty, and that he was retried and given the death penalty, and that the decision to retry was "last year" from the time of writing. According to the presumed source of Sirens, it was recorded in 2005 or 2006. Also, his death penalty verdict was eventually thrown out on account of being mentally handicapped. Doesn't fit the "For K" description of "a nice guy, really bright". And besides, I just have a hard time imagining Lana being romantically involved with someone mentally handicapped. As I've said before:
  9. I was gonna respond at length and specifically to a lot of the bad arguments and double standards in this thread, but then I remembered that Mehdi Hasan already covered most of these bases. And YouTube videos in a confrontational style seems to be this forum's speed anyway. (FWIW, I would quibble slightly with some points. Political motivations for terrorism are generally underappreciated and his emphasis on them is a necessary corrective, but I think he underplays religious motivation a tiny bit too much. But in any case, his larger point, his insistence that a double standard not be applied to Islam, still stands.) Also, amusingly, one of his opponents, Anne Marie Waters, who took offense at him suggesting her views would be welcome in UKIP or the BNP, did in fact join UKIP. A separate point I should note is this is an international forum. There are many members from a Muslim background, including among the mod staff. Please bear that in mind before making sweeping generalizations about Muslims or Islam.
  10. These were just a collection of songs ripped from different episodes of the Nefarious Bovine Radio podcast that played a bunch of her early material. The name "The Money Honey Sessions" was just a fanmade title given them by @@FROGGO. I believe we have all of them in better quality now. And I'm fairly certain they are all 2007 or earlier. It wasn't a whole album of Elvis covers. In her Taratata interview she said she was thinking of including a couple Elvis covers on BTD but hadn't gotten approval from Priscilla to do so. It's unclear whether she had already recorded them, or was waiting for approval she never got to do so. We also know she used to cover "Heartbreak Hotel" in her live shows, but no recordings have surfaced.

    Lana giving me that shout-out.
  12. Hope is not a strategy. You might try working with producers that don't have a bad track record with security.
  13. I know of a few, but color me extremely skeptical of the motivation for asking this.
  14. This. 100%. I'm just surprised she didn't make a music video for this where she gives a cop her Pepsi-Cola. I'm exaggerating, but if I were FJM I'd consider unfriending after hearing this. This sounds like something we'd take seriously. I'd be interested in seeing receipts for this. There's only one other mod besides me (and it wasn't me) that might possibly fit your description as being a straight male.

  16. Guys, we shouldn't make fun of @@Elle. Two wongs don't make a wight.
  17. I'm loving seeing this maturation. That's why I'm leaving you for the music, you for the music, it's true, it's true Hmmm, Mertens played bass in her band. And of course there's "Joshy & I": You play the bass... I'm both excited for some political awareness from her and worried it will completely miss the mark. That last sentence does not inspire confidence. Probably just her usual inarticulateness in interviews, but the way she worded it smacks of pandering to audience concerns, not genuinely feeling them. Also sounds downright Trumpian. Many people are saying... Cautiously optimistic though. This sounds more like it. Anticipating the title will be ironic/sarcastic or mournful.
  18. inb4 Lana's false claim to have been born in 1986 is used against her to question her eligibility
  19. Somewhere Calendargirl is shook.
  20. In the US, to have good health coverage, you basically have to be lucky enough, as I am, to have a good job where your employer pays-- and even then you have to pay part out of your paycheck-- or purchase insurance yourself. Obamacare was a woefully insufficient reform. And now Republicans are trying to undo even that. @ataraxia https://twitter.com/SenSanders/status/860299912214446082
