lanathelazygal liked a post in a topic by dollyhaze in So I've written a fanfic
I've seen some lyrics from Lana and decided to write a fanfic. It took me 4 years, so I've changed a few things and decided to print it (single version, because I don't want to publish it, even though you don't know that is about Lana if you are not a fan) and that came out as a nice 400 pages book.
To finish this book, was the most smart thing I've done during quarantine. I just wanted to share it because I feel so proud of myself. Proud of my boredom. Have anyone ever done the same thing?

Teachers usually make horrible parents because they have to deal with kids bs all day and they develop this stance of "the teacher is right, the child is wrong" and then they preserve this attitude even in their home life when their own child needs their support. But they don't give that, instead when there is a school-related conflict they take the school's side and don't stand up for their kid and often even blame them, saying for sure the teacher is right and the child is wrong. This is a breeding ground for negative emotional wounds that then fester and have long-term effects. I am not surprised at all and Patty deserves to be dragged for her psycho behavior.

@@letsescapelizzy okay... I have a friend that was sexually abused as 12 year old. the monster that did this to her was someone she knew ( a close family friend), all her family knew and her mother was the only one that secretly blamed her for it ... now she's 17 and what can I say she's been through a lot, she's suicidal and bulimic and got pregnant twice , she's attracted to the wrong dudes and so on.. and she reminds me of Lana in some weird way that I cannot pin point lol. So of course I can't prove anything because OBVIOUSLY I don't know her , BUT she did say that most of her songs are autobioographical excetera ... but that's not enough right? because lyrics arent reliable and on some extent I have to agree with you, so you ask me where did I get this Idea from? Well first of all I found extremely sad and unusual for a 14 yo to be an alcoholic, I mean.. Apparently she comes from a wealthy and respectable family right? So what on earth made her drink daily and why she was sent to a boarding school? what she was trying to escape from? so I began to think the causes of so much upheaval .. She has a wonderful relationship with her dad so he has nothing to do with her problems, she's really close to her brother and sister so they too have nothing to do with anything traumatic.. but then I noticed that she never mentions her mother, so something must be off. My personal theory is that something profoundly disturbing happened to her ( it could be sexual abuse or not) and she was left with long lasting scars, she began to act erratically and her mother decided to send her somewhere else instead of dealing with her, and from that point the hostility began... I mean really guys? we all argue with our parents, and we all have problems but would that transform us in alcolholics? AT FOURTEEN FUCKING YEARS OLD?? that's not ordinary ... and apart from that all her life is shady and purposefully concealed... her university years are foggy and there are rumors of her being in Alabama after graduating high school.... and we all know she comes from a family with cash, so why did she lived in a trailer park for 18 months????? So that's what produced this thread...

Lana was out and about in West Hollywood earlier today with her sister Chuck. She was rocking a flannel over her usual blue jeans/white shirt/shades of cool combo.

okay to swing this all back to NFR -
i, for one, am a huge fan of Tomboy Lana. clock my profile pic. i am a huge fan of her saying "i'm your man" in MAC and using the lesbian pronouns in Doin' Time. i like that she's changing her look. that's her prerogative.
HOWEVER - i am NOT a fan of this dumb bitch going to Hillsong, the Brunei owned hotels, or hanging with these basic af matcha saddies.
it's like. on the one hand she's getting more queer, with various aspects of NFR songs. on the other, shes a homophobic asshole.

I'm a grad student who has been a Lana fan ever since late 2011-early 2012 (I don't remember the exact date but it was BEFORE the January 2012 SNL thing everyone had a popcorn party with, so I am pretty sure I was a Lana fan since I saw her "unreleased" music on YouTube in 2011) ...my unpopular opinion is that a lot of it is a myth or construct grounded in her personal experience. I've read articles or theses of other people who graduated with a Master's in Lana Del Rey (actually Women's Studies, or Sociology or something) and I agreed with what they were saying, though I am actually focused in environmental science and anthropology.
1) Lana is embodying different feminine characters, or different manifestations of Goddess, so it's not always necessarily "her."
2) Lana's running commentary on America, men, hetero-normativity, and pop culture is an inner conflict (part of the "war in" her "mind") I am a firm believer some of her songs are ironic or outsider perspectives on American ideals or heteronormative ideals. An example of this is that the NFR cover is ridiculous. The man in it is objectified as a person staring off in the distance, as she vaguely holds his waist, but reaches for you.
3) I have never believed that she is actually straight. I think this is fool's errand. She's not lesbian, but she's something like bisexual or pansexual, evidenced by videos like Summertime Sadness, photos of her kissing women, and a kind of sharp irony towards heteronormativity that makes LGBTQ fans quite comfortable, including numerous young gay men who came out with Lana's "support" through her music. Because she is also queer in some way. Duh.
4) I'm pretty sure I have more to say about this (I could write my own dissertation) but I want to impress you with how SMART she is...some of the references she makes are to classic literature or philosophy, and her openness, that exciting lack of boundaries she has, that authenticity, is countered by an intellectualism where she's not just putting on a show for you, but she's telling you stories about the culture you live in or grew up in, and she's doing it in a detached way that has little to do with her personal life.
