  1. tbd haters need to not. this is lana we're talking about. who cares about radio? she could have been serving us edgy catholic widow-chic in that video that would have been worth it alone. & to hear it live...would be a gift. yes. . .but half the fun of being a lana fan is that eventually everything leaks. js.
  2. thanks for starting a topic! i just got into the citrine EP and it is perfection. i have the biggest crush on hayley as well. has she said she was bi? all i've seen is her talk about liking girls...
  3. don't really know how you figure that. she worked with a producer she felt was safe, didn't promote, had no controversy unlike w/ultraviolence, etc... it's clear to me she has been playing it safe because she doesn't want negative attention. the reaction to her SNL performance will always haunt her and it's unfortunate.
  4. this idea that "mature" music has to be a slow-paced snoozefest is ridiculous. go listen to "from the choirgirl hotel" by tori amos who was 35 when it was released. it's a mature album but it's not boring and one-note. go figure! i would never expect lana to make music that i could shake my ass at in the club or even want that. but she's afraid to go outside of her comfort zone and we all know it. it would be nice for her to push some boundaries again or at least make an album that has some variety in it. she's capable of it.
  5. this thread hurts my soul but i nominate 24, Lucky Ones, and God Knows I Tried.
  6. i see it more like this: she's gone to the beach to make up her mind about leaving her relationship. the second half of the verse/the chorus is lana on the beach (i'm in love, lying in the sand), coming to terms with this decision. you're right in that she loves the beach/ocean--that is the spot she has chosen to go to when everything else is falling apart around her. i don't think it's a negative association with the ocean making her cry. the ocean evokes strong feelings from her because she has a connection with it. she's also emotional from having to end her relationship while knowing it's what she has to do. it's bittersweet. the theme reminds me of "pawn shop blues" where she is still in love with the guy but she knows it's in her best interests to leave him (in the name of higher consciousness/i let the best man i knew go). i truly don't understand the second verse's meaning, though.
  7. i would love something like this for her next album. i'm almost sad it isn't.
  8. ooh, i want to know more about what the interviewer was going to say about lana's music! i bet lana enjoys the weeknd's appreciation of her and vice versa. i happen to think they do sound exquisite together. shame this time it was only an interlude.
  9. i would enjoy hearing lana do a cover of virtually any song but i wish she wouldn't put them on her albums. i'd rather have one more original song than a cover. she should do them live or release them as a special thing, like "summer wine." that was a nice treat.
  10. damn, lana deserves better fans...if your enjoyment of her music is dependent on her weight then that's pathetic.
  11. i think so too. HOW DISAPPOINTING. give us LANA news
  12. who was paying for lana to record all of those demos? 5 points? Rob? there are so many and studio time isn't cheap.
  13. agreed. the background vocals for the last chorus are amazing. really shows what's special about her voice. for me, it would be perfect if it wasn't about an instant messenger that no one even uses anymore....
  14. i wrote this song off as trash when it leaked, but lately i can't seem to get it out of my head. i swear, every lana song ends up growing on me if i didn't already love it immediately.
  15. she's looking heavenly, lately. i feel like something is up her sleeve, but whoever knows with lana?
  16. i don't know how i feel seems like a promo single to me.
  17. any guesses on the 2nd single? i'm really addicted to "hard to forget ya" lately. (apparently, that is an unpopular opinion?? is no one else here for the early 00s pop feel? shame.) there could be so many good choices.
  18. i keep imagining these ridic videos for glory: --"coupure electrique" with britney as a ballerina. kinda like when she popped out of the music box for the dream within a dream tour, you know? but with an artsy, minimalist video done in pastels. --"man on the moon" done in a style reminiscent to "lucky," but with britney doing some OTT soap opera-style acting set in retro-futuristic sci-fi setting. --a sexy, choreography-driven video for "slumber party" filmed in a mansion, moving from room-to-room of a ~sensual~ shindig hahaha. anyway, i'm really, really enjoying the album. britney jean was such a letdown that i didn't expect anything this time around in order to not get my hopes up, but i am impressed. yeah, i am a britney fan to begin with, but there is major replay value here. it finally feels like an album britney wanted to make.
  19. i also vote for multiple themes to choose from that are QUALITY and well-cultivated, as well as a main theme that is updated on a semi-regular basis. an @@annedauphine theme would be perfect!!!!! has the mess with the user icons been solved yet? i'm still afraid to try to change mine since getting the one i have was a pain in the ass.
