you do realize that he isn't the only one that mixes/masters songs or albums.....right?

A talented producer is supposed to produce honey and not vinegar for our ears . He may be a talented song - melody writer , but his mixing and mastering is just 🤮. And that’s ok . I’ve made peace with it since Lana made clear that she will work with him until the end of days .
 
And an unpopular opinion , I hated NFR when it came out and I couldn’t understand why people love it . Now after years I’m still trying to get into it but as soon as my ears hear the mixing mastering errors I get extremely annoyed . Yes the concept of this album is great , it could have been her best record if Jack could just help her with melodies and not actually mix / master the album .

I’m into it cause he won’t let her put any boring shit on the soundtrack, she’s gonna have to come with some hot music 

i stand with you  his production is very beige and bland with empty, soulless, sparse instrumentals. his work severely lacks flavor and boldness, it sounds muddy and muted. for example he takes a beautiful instrument like the guitar and somehow still creates an uninspiring sound with it. so boring

Guys idk what’s happening, but something really strange is going on. A couple hours ago I shared in here that I found an update about the car crash I was stuck behind on Saturday night/Sunday morning (in which I bonded with an Uber driver over the title track and the “don’t forget me” line) where it was reported the driver in the crash had died, and I just now found out that one of my friends from the Lana community that I’ve been in touch with for 5 years passed on Wednesday. The same day that the record was announced and the title track was released. That “don’t forget me” line is reeeeaaaalllllllyyyyy hitting me hard right now.
To make things even more unsettling, on Saturday evening before that whole Uber moment happened, I had went to the mall for some holiday shopping and spontaneously stopped into Build-a-Bear and made myself a little pink fox. I was pondering over a name for awhile, but the name Candi popped in my head and I instantly decided to settle on that especially since they had a little cute candy cane dress I could put her in. It made me think of my friend named Candy and figured I should check in with her since I think it’s always a sign that when you think of someone, you should let them know. Now I’ve just found out my sweet Candy had passed earlier that week. I felt the need to share this with you all especially now that I’ve felt the “don’t forget me” line from the title track now twice in the past like ~24 hours, and now I come into this thread to see you all talking about the word “candy”??? I feel like I’m sort of just word vomiting rn but this is all really unsettling and I’m struggling with how to feel. I feel like her spirit was already reminding me not to forget her before I even knew she was gone.
Rest in peace, Candy. It’s always hard to know we’ve lost someone from the fandom, especially someone who was as golden-hearted as she was. I wish she would’ve been around to hear the new album as I know she was looking forward to it. I at least hope she heard the title track before her passing. Another person I absolutely will never be forgetting x

I was hoping she would release a West Coast/Video Games/MAC level lead single this time. I do think some people would appreciate this song more if she hadn’t released COCC/BB last year because it really isn’t a bad song.

I completely understand that her albums are hers. But I love to get lost in her songs, when they mirror my own life in some way
not that it always should, which is totally normal and fine, and it’s bound to happen at some point, that I won’t always relate to the story of a song. 
if The Grants is very specific, I hope the production is grand and lush, so I can still love it even if I don’t relate to the lyrics, like Art Deco and Carmen in her first records. I’ve mentioned it before, but this is what was tricky about both BB and COCC: stripped down production songs that I don’t relate to ate very hard to love (the songs that are too oriented towards celebrity and motherhood, like Dance Til We Die or Sweet Carolina, are the ones I listen to the least)

all of her title tracks are amazing in different ways but it’s hard to top honeymoon for me. it may be one of the most ethereal songs ever made. it just takes me to a different world every time i listen to it
