Lana is all about contrasts, cycles and juxtapositions. COCC is of course very LDR but always developing!

Also, as someone whose entire family lives in country clubs, can't wait to visit them and listen to this by the pool

Aaaagh why are we discussing the title on page 409. Sundays really are boring

They’re braver than me! Pretty much all year-rond, flannel keeps warm and all but in the summer, I sweat like a pig in it.

I can’t believe she wears flannel in the middle of summer.

She's hot AF and I am still recovering from her latest selfies. And the kittens meowing in that video are sooo sweet lol.

Semi-unrelated note: what if she sells an LDR flannel as part of COCC merch a la the Taylor Swift cardigan

I really really like “Chemtrails Over the Country Club” as a title. It’s weird, mysterious, extravagant and yet incredibly captivating.
“White Hot Forever”, on the contrary, means everything and nothing at the same time: it’s dull, just like Amy Foster. Sue me.

    YES.

It’s definitely somewhat of a creepy title when you really think about it. Definitely ominous as the person above said. As if there’s something sinister coming from above for the careless people down below.

The very strong imagery the title alone projects is why I have high hopes for the visuals of surrounding this album. Lana has always been just as interesting to see as she has been to hear, so hopefully we get really freaky stuff to look at.

Chemtrails Over the Country Club is personally my favourite album title from her. It’s so Lynchian. And the juxtaposition of something luxurious like country clubs and something ominous like chemtrails kinda reminds me of how Lana described Ultraviolence as a title.

I am so happy that Lana didn't tease COCC music this time around. I love how she is going about this. NFR was legitimate torture hearing music basically a year before release. I actually hope it is a surprise release!!!

Imagine listening to new Lana music for the first time, without knowing what to expect AT ALL. amazing

You're right but I guess it's our internet age. It's Sunday morning, almost 11:00 and I'm wearing yesterdays shirt trying to muster the energy to take a shower. Yet I still believe I know what's best for Lana!

We all have our delusions I guess.

I think it's a shame that most of the reviews for this album will be reviewing that dreaded Instagram letter rather than the actual album. Same thing happened with violet.

I get what you mean, and honestly, as a listener, I don’t care at all about the album’s success when it comes to my enjoyment of it. Even the cover and photo shoots for magazine can be cute bonuses, but the promo visuals honestly don’t matter much for me (the interviews might be the best part if done correctly). But we can’t deny the fact that she is involved with the music industry, which has certain politics that can help understand some of the choices she « makes ». Not that we agree with them.
Bravo! This is very well put! And very interesting. I had never thought of it like that! Thanks!

i've seen people complain about the lack of snippets and spoilers in this era but personally i'm glad for it, they just water down the excitement and first-time listening experience (HIAB was the worst, i genuinely thought it was gonna be a 9 mins track considering how long the snippets were   )

the thing about surprise releases is that i feel it's less about, sayyyy, how much financial power an artist has or even how big their fanbase is - i think it has a lot more to do with how socially acceptable it is to like an artist and their ability to be trendy and talked about universally.

frank ocean, for example, dropped a surprise release and everyone talked about it and it worked bc he as an artist is well liked, considered "cool" and has that ~aloof~ vibe, his fanbase demographic is MASSIVE and diverse, and he's a fave on twitter and IG, even if his numbers don't match that of someone like Lana. if Megan thee Stallion, who is social media's current favourite girl (she's earned that dont get me wrong!) surprise dropped an album tonight, it would be ALLLL YOU SAW on twitter and IG bc she's a social media darling and to *not* listen to her or like her music is almost shocking in a way, so the majority of people would feel compelled to listen to her album even if they've never listened to her stuff before simply out of FOMO, a desire to join in w/ trends and an urge to see what all the fuss is about.

Beyonce is obviously a massive artist but again, the case is it's more shocking NOT to be a fan of her than to be a fan of her.

being a loud and proud Lana stan isn't hugely socially acceptable tbh - it's not considered weird, but it's not considered cool either. despite all her success, talent and critical acclaim, i'm not sure a surprise release would generate a big amount of buzz outside of her more intense fanbase really. i can see, like, a straight 25 year old dude from London checking out a surprise Meg album or Frank album or Beyonce album if he sees someone on his twitter timeline gushing over it - but i can't quite see that same dude checking out a surprise LDR album if he sees someone he follows gushing over it, and i find it even less likely he'd then go on to tweet about it himself and ask his group chat about it. you know what i mean? she's not universally loved online imo, especially not after Culture-Gate.

It doesn't feel real that we will have an entirely new album in a matter of weeks...

Lana is a top 15 female artist. It’s very good and all, but surprise releases that do incredibly well tend to be for top 5 artists. True, her fan base grows with each record and we do support her, but so many casual fans get confused with her projects (some thought Violet was the Chemtrails and that Tulsa Jesus Freak had leaked because they saw I Talk to Jesus on YouTube...). I don’t know, maybe she is popular enough to surprise drop something, but I’m not sure (she could test it by releasing a little EP between two projects and if it does well, then it would be a good strategy to pursue in the future).

Wondering if she’ll tease White Hot Forever this week and release both in two weeks?!?

Could be for both since BTD, Paradise, and LfL were shot on set of a music video!

Combined with the kitchen sultry on Facebook I'm very excited!!

Yesterday, Lana Del Rey was shooting something at the Eric Lloyd Wright House + Complex in Malibu, California.
On Thursday, Lana's hairstylist Sheridan Ward posted a throwback photo on Instagram captioned "Looking forward to seeing this lovely tomorrow" and also tagged Lana's makeup artist Pamela Cochrane in the post.
Yesterday, both Sheridan Ward and makeup artist Etienne Ortega, who has recently been doing Lana's makeup, posted photos & videos of the Eric Lloyd Wright House to their Instagram stories.
It is unknown whether the project is a photoshoot or video, or who was behind the camera. It is speculated to perhaps be Nicole Nodland due to her recent cryptic Instagram posts or one of the Grant siblings.
The location has been used for many celebrity projects, such as those including Kylie Jenner, G-Eazy, Rowan Blanchard, and Lara Worthington.

She was snippeting it up even when she knew she was delaying NFR, so I don't think that that means anything.

However, the fact that Ben posted it means more than her posting it. As @@GeminiLanaFan said, he only posts stuff if it's really coming soon.

It’s coming in September for sure - Lana seems to enjoy keeping things pretty lowkey time-wise this release cycle so I think the lack of activity right now will mean that closer to the album release we’ll get everything close together instead of the sporadic and spread out release cycle of NFR.

Delay or no, it seems VERY likely we will get it this year. The Spotify bio change, the little hints here and there, Ben literally saying new music is coming out soon, all these things point out to a release in the few months with Tulsa Jesus Freak coming very soon.

I agree. And Lana is an artist whose art transcends all the material in this world - I obviously love and am happy when she’s nominated for awards but for me (and likely for her) it’s just all about the music and the words and the art itself that really matters. Whether or not she wins a Grammy doesn’t change that!
