it really fits for me. if venice bitch is their psychedelic trip, doin time is their hollywood blockbuster (or, the music video). she's almost teasing west coast for us. it punts some energy back into it, signifying where they became legit, and it was great. a detail i love is how doin' time, in its original lyrics, puts lana singing in the position of the man, a theme that's been present since MAC. once again, she knew what she was doing.
 
as an album track, it feels no further a deviation than venice bitch being 9 minutes long, tnbar being a controversially-reworked legendary demo, or hope, a seemingly one-off bare ballad. i'm not struggling to appreciate every one of them (esp vb lmao but some ppl……)

good video or not, doin time doesn't rly belong on NFR. she still cute tho

The fact that it has the least amount of streams in that list is, frankly, embarrassing. Lyrically, it's one of the more complex and personal songs on this album, and the piano doesn't sound like a Fisher-Price keyboard. The same cannot be said for some of the other songs.

I mean Lana's voice is sweet and all...but those beats sound so cheap and 'empty' if that makes sense. Also those jingle bells really don't fit at all. It sounds so abrupt in such a soft song and takes the focus away from the vocals, then when they stop all of a sudden it just sounds so choppy.
