Lol @ bartender hate. A career highlight highkey. It’s so damn good. You can hardly even bitch about the production there it’s the only track (other than Hope) that’s JUST piano and her voice. It’s so wonderful. Bar-t-t-tender is amazing and so is the damn HA HA HA.

in this article they put roachella at the top of the list and the blackest day at the bottom, so if you also don't have taste don't feel bad apparently its rampant

The kind of things I adore reading. Such a constructive criticism. And I feel like you're one of the few people who have gotten the deepest meaning of this record. I love the fact that you scratched the surface of the songs to understand the heart of each one.

California is the best song on the album.

Also, is anyone else just kind of unimpressed with Lana's newer, lazier, breathier vocal style? I just want to scream cord closure at her. I can constantly hear air leaking out and it sounds so grating sometimes.

I really don't understand how people dislike Hope. It's so suffocatingly emotional. Such a perfectly raw blend of nihilism and optimism and a perfect picture of what living with depression for years feels like. Just a piano, a woman, and her pain. Perfection

I have to say, all of the snippets and leaks and songs Lana put out kind of put a damper on the album for me. I don't think I got to really experience even one song as an entirely new listen. Anyways, the album is gorgeous, but UV > HM > AKA > NFR = BTD/Paradise >>>>>>>> LFL and that's just the truth!!

I was reading Slim Arons and I got to thinking that I thought
Maybe I’d get less stressed if I was tested less like all of these debutantes
Smiling for miles in pink dresses and high heels on white yachts, but I’m not
    Baby, I’m not
    No, I'm not
    That, I'm not

I’ve been tearing around in my fucking nightgown
    24/7 Sylvia Plath
Writing in blood on my walls
‘Cause the ink in my pen don't work in my notepad
    Don't ask if I'm happy
    You know that I'm not
But at best I can say I'm not sad
‘Cause hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have
Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have

I had fifteen-year dances, church basement romances, yeah, I've got
Spilling my guts with the Bowery Bums is the only love i've ever known
Except for the stage which I also call home when I'm not
Servin' up god in a burnt coffee pot for the triad
Hello, it's the most famous woman you know on the iPad
Calling from beyond the grave I just wanna say, "Hi, Dad"

I've been tearing up town in my fucking white gown
    Like a goddamn near sociopath
Shaking my ass is the only thing that's got this black narcissist off my back
She couldn't care less, and I never cared more, so there's no more to say about that
Except hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have
Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman with my past

There's a new revolution, a loud evolution, that I saw
Born of confusion and quiet collusion of which mostly I've known
A modern day woman with a weak constitution cause I've got
Monsters still under my bed that I could never fight off
A gatekeeper carelessly dropping the keys on my nights off

I've been tearing around in my fucking nightgown
    24/7 Sylvia Plath
Writing in blood on your walls cause the ink my pen don't look good in my pad
    They write that I'm happy
    They know that I'm not
But at best you can see I'm not sad
But hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have
Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have

Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have
    But I have it
    Yeah, I have it
    Yeah, I have it
    I have

Since my original post got "drowned" in yesterday's Kanye craze – these are my impressions after the first listen:

So I heard the record couple of times.

California is one of her best songs ever. It's really mature and follows some kind of logic in her evolution as an artist.

"How to disappear" sounds terrible to my ears. Is that supposed to be a Christmas song?
"Love Song" starts great and then sounds like a freestyle session in the studio. WTF?
"The Next Best American Record" is probably the worst song in the record.
"Cinnamon" is good, but it sounds like the track that should have been between "Cherry" and "White Mustang" on LFL. I don't see it in NFR. :/

    About the rest:
Venice Bitch, California, Bartender, NFR, Happiness is a butterfly, MAC, The Greatest - I wouldn't mind if the album was just those 7. It still would have been her best record ever.

Overall - NFR sounds like LFL - I mean both records sound like the work of an artist looking for a new direction. Let's hope that her next album will be entirely in the lanes of this new direction.

And where are the RHCP vibes anyway?
